Live Nation hint at "different" Coldplay tour

Featured Replies

This is taken from an article about Madonna's current world tour:

Arthur Fogel, a one-time Torontonian now based in L.A. as Live Nation's CEO of global touring and chairman of global music, says this year's Madge tour will do extremely well, what with no other major tours in the works from such acts as U2 and the Rolling Stones, although he points out the Coldplay tour "will be huge in a different way."

A simple statement that Coldplay and Madonna's live shows are different, as most live shows are? Or a hint that Coldplay's tour is going to be a significant shift from normality in some way or another........

Maybe they'll march to the White House or make it a play with actors or something. Or maybe all their concerts will be free... I hope not. I don't want the riff raff interfering with my enjoyment of quality music. Tickets should cost at least as much as a Bentley.

I was thinking just that lols. If its free randoms will just apply for tickets because they can. Unless they have a way of sorting out the true fans from the not, presenting a Coldplay tattoo on entrance maybe? :\

Anyways looking forward to what the news will be...

I'm guessing that Coldplay have talent and can actually sing and play where as Madonna has to have dancers and bells and whistles to distract from her talentlessness.

if it's that, i'm in!!!! :laugh4:

I expect something different in this tour. Guy said they were trying to do everything different from what they used to do, so I think we'll have more surprises in the live performances :D

I def choose the second option. They're so into this big change of music that the second one seems to fit more...And that's very exciting, great changes even on tour! :nice:

OK, here's my story... I work at Disney hotel and a couple weeks back I met a gentleman from London who just won an award in LA for his short film and was staying at Disney with his family before going back to London. I told him I had been to London 5 times and loved it... and of course I told him about being Coldplay and Radiohead fan. He told me his name, Mark(well, I could have got that anyway from computer) and he works actually for BBC tv as carpenter building sets and he and friend who is graphic artist just finished working on Coldplay stage set. He said that is funny that you mentioned Coldplay, cause I have worked on their staging you know.....You know the hair on my arms stood up as he said that. I asked him what it would be like but you know he would not say... darn it! But he did say that it would be very different than the last tour. ..it's going to be brilliant! That's all I got out of him. Then he headed to his room. That was like instead of "6 degrees of separation," more like "2 degrees of separation."

Woah that's great information. I wonder what the stage is going to be like?!

What if, and stay with me here. It is more like the Arcade Fire with their full orchestra and what not? That would be different for them, and makes a little bit of sense.

I think coldplays tour will be amazing either way, I wonder what "Different" meens. Possibly more concentration on the technical aspect of the show? A team of dancers (god i hope not). What ever the new changes are they will probly be great, Chris, Jonny, Guy & Will all know what there doing. :) Im sure they'll give us something well talk about for years! :)

Boston MA.

I can't wait to see their stage and light setup. Its going to be awesome to see how they are going to build on an already amazing concert setup... right now that means more to me than getting another single! Its my opinion though

I've had a feeling the 'tour' will be of a very different format this time, since everything they've done is so unusual compared to their usual marketing. I'm VERY curious!!

LOL Holy shit, I just got a tatoo "For You I Bleed Myself Dry" on my lower back. my first. wait till hubby sees it:laugh3:

Maybe i am getting ahead of myself, but who will open up for Coldplay? Love Richard Ashcroft to tears, but if this is to be an entireley different tour..............

this may be the reach the world thing?

possibly a holographic tour like serj tankian suggested?

maybe a stadium tour? have we had one of those?

They dont need anymore money and going to do as many gigs as free as possible

If they're going big on the staging, it might very well be necessary for the tour to be in stadiums. I saw Coldplay at Alpine Valley a few years ago, which is a pretty big venue (holds 40,000). I prefer smaller, more intimate venues but I'll never get to see themm in that kind of environment ever again.

"COLDPLAY 3D" maybe?

That would be awesome. But I'd rather see them live, I think.

Wasn't there an artical a while back on Coldplay possibly doing it? I think that would be awesome, but no way does it replace an actual tour. I saw the U2 one and thought I was the best 15 bucks Ive spent at a movie to date

Hey I went to that Alpine show. Big for an amphitheater.
