RunForTheHills
Now I know what they mean when they were talking about a glitchy beat, although the beat from "15 Step" is more of what I would describe as glitchy. But intriguing all the same!

alyssa
Jesus Christ--it's not in 4/4 time. I'm FUCKING STUNNED. :laugh3: Coldplay's pretty popular, and I swear it's so hard to find a popular song that's not 3/4 or 4/4, haha.
mountainloafers
how'd this get out... is it gonna leak or what Id say YES! A leak is on the horizon for sure... You know on listening to this and what everyone is thinking is Yes on the Amazon snippet, I am beggining to think that they sound eerily similar... What do you guys think? Is what we think is Yes really 42?
Hotplay007
http://home.q4music.com/cgi-bin/q50/track.pl?id=620 it's only 30 seconds, but it sounds BRILLIANT!!! yup, just heard it on that last post. Sounds.. strange. like I'm walking through an ally way with brick buildings on both sides painted red playing some sort of game. heh i'm weird. thanks for the link though. - Gabriel
Jesus Christ--it's not in 4/4 time. I'm FUCKING STUNNED. :laugh3:IT'S NOT?! Now I'm excited. I love weird time signatures. Which Coldplay doesn't ever use. (Almost) Until now? By the way, if it's instrumental, how do we know for sure that it's Coldplay? (I'm resisting the urge to listen, so my would-be analysis will not factor into this) EDIT: Nevermind; clip in What Matters review removes doubt. RunForTheHills
^I think its 4/4, try tapping your foot too it, its hard but thats what I get. It sure is a huge change in direction for Will though.

lostsides
Someone help me figure out what time signature this is? Is it 4/4? It sure doesn't sound like it. God, I'm a drummer and I can't figure this out! Most of it is in 4/4. The first bar might be in 7/4?
alyssa
I know 4/4 fits, kinda, but it sounds like a different time sig would fit better... I keep getting 6 notes then a triplet when I try to count it out, haha.

- Gabriel
sounds like kashmir by zepellin Maybe it's polyrhythm. I know that the time signatures that confuse me the most are simple ones where two instruments are each in a different time signature. For example... "Kashmir". (Drums 4/4, orchestra 3/4) Other examples: "Fitted Shirt" by Spoon (Guitar 3/4, drums in verses 4/4) "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" by The Beatles (During the "When I hold you in my arms" section, drums in 4/4, everything else in 3/4) "Does It Really Happen?" by Yes (During chorus, drums in 4/4, vocals 11/4 [3/4-3/4-5/8-5/8])
bleed0range
I gave in... I listened. And it just drips of amazliciousness.
TraceOddity
It took a minute to find the groove, but it's a straight 4/4...just kind of synchopated, that's all. And I see why people are thinking Kashmir. The 'string' sound is similar though not identical. Sounds promising, and it's only one of three parts!! Thx for posting.:D
