Reilly
Blackpool away when you're a big name. Ain't much tougher tests in the Premier League is there. Tottenham will be very disappointed though. Exactly, Charlie Adam is such an inspiration to that team and when they get it right, they don't let their opponents play. Arsenal weren't that convincing tonight, can anyone name a team that is? Even United aren't having a great season but they somehow manage to pull in the points, that league is getting more and more tight and competitive, like most European leagues- it's just weird because we're not used to it. There used to be some type of pecking order, the strugglers, the consistent mid-table teams (Newcastle, Spurs, Villa) the UEFA cup teams and the top 4, and results could actually be predicted back then. I'm not a betting man but if I was, I'd have lost a lot of money this season.

I think he has done a fair job so far, with a few upsets, Juve and Udinese being the main ones, I think he has made Inter stronger in attack but the defence is weaker, were nearly always conceeding!, noticablly more than under Jose, I think he's a definate improvement on Rafa and for the moment I'm happy with him. I'm not holding much hope of getting much further in the Champions League this year my main hope is that he can win us Serie A again which is do able in my opinion. mc_squared
Ashley Cole accidentally shoots student after 'larking about' with air rifle at Chelsea's training ground By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 1:46 AM on 27th February 2011 Comments (3) Add to My Stories Accident: Ashley Cole, seen here in Chelsea's FA Cup game against Everton last Saturday, reportedly shot an intern with an air rifle at the club's training ground last Sunday Ashley Cole has been rapped by his bosses at Chelsea Football Club after he shot a work placement student with an air rifle, it emerged today. According to reports, the footballer accidentally shot 21-year-old Tom Cowan from just 5ft away as he 'larked about' with a high-powered .22 rifle at the club's training ground. The News of the World said he wounded the intern who was given medical treatment on the spot, but two days later the wound was still weeping and had to be treated again. A source told the paper: 'It's truly inconceivable that a Premier League footballer could bring a gun to the training ground. 'But Ashley pulled the rifle from a box and started larking about with it in the changing room. 'Cole didn't know the gun was loaded but it's a disgrace. His behaviour beggars belief.' The incident is believed to have happened last Sunday morning when £110,00-a-week Cole, 30, arrived for training at the Chelsea's Cobham training ground in Surrey holding the weapon, complete with a muzzle and nightscope. The .22 air rifle is the most powerful gun that can be owned in the UK without a licence and if misused, it can kill. Tom is a Loughborough sports student on a year's internship with the west London club. Sources at Chelsea said: 'Tom screamed as this lead pellet hit him in the side. He was bleeding profusely. 'He was in agony and seemed to go into shock as he steadied himself and sat down on one of the benches.' Tom was given two days off to recover and on Wednesday, was reportedly asked to attend a meeting with Chelsea bosses, who are believed to have gone into 'lockdown' over the incident and are 'deeply worried'. The source added: ' A professional footballer bringing a gun to training is not just overstepping the mark, it's taking a running leap over it.' It is understood that Cole has been reprimanded by his bosses at Chelsea and had also apologised to Tom. But Tom's father Ronald, is said to be furious and is demanding to know what action will be taken against the England player. The source said: 'He needs to know that Cole realises the consequences of his actions.' The weapon: A .22 air rifle gun like the one Cole is believed to have shot Tom with Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1361033/Ashley-Cole-accidentally-shoots-student-larking-air-rifle-Chelseas-training-ground.html#ixzz1F9I89f12

mc_squared
Wigan 0 Manchester United 4: So how DID Wayne Rooney get away with that? By Joe Bernstein Last updated at 2:18 AM on 27th February 2011 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Wayne Rooney was at the centre of an elbowing storm as Manchester United went four points clear at the top of the league. Rooney went unpunished after catching Wigan’s James McCarthy on the side of the head early on in the game with the score goalless. An ear bashing: James McCarthy walks away in pain but Rooney's actions go unpunished by referee Clattenburg The England striker went on to play a major part in United’s first three goals to leave defeated manager Roberto Martinez hinting that referee Mark Clattenburg might not have dealt with one of his lesser-known Wigan players so leniently. The ninth-minute incident occurred off the ball when Rooney tried to run past McCarthy on the edge of the United area. As the youngster seemed to cut off Rooney’s space, the striker responded with what TV replays suggested was a forearm smash that left the Wigan player furiously rubbing his left ear in pain. Martinez came to the edge of his technical area to protest but Clattenburg decided a stiff word with Rooney rather than a card would suffice. His decision to award Wigan a free-kick indicated he had seen the incident, ruling out further FA punishment towards Rooney. Martinez, whose relegation-threatened side had the better of United until Javier Hernandez’s 17th-minute opener, tossed aside his normal diplomacy when questioned. MARTINEZ: That was a clear red card for an elbow. He's very lucky FERGUSON: It was nothing. But you lot will want him electrocuted ‘Rooney got away with it — he was very fortunate,’ said the Spaniard. ‘If you see a replay of the incident, his elbow catches my player in the face. It was clearly a red card. ‘If it was a Wigan player, he would have been very lucky to still be on the pitch. It was a key moment in the game. If they had gone down to 10 men, it would have been a different proposition.’ Martinez went to see Clattenburg at the interval to get an explanation but the referee told him he did not think it was a red-card offence. ‘The disappointing thing is that the referee has seen it and just gave a free-kick,’ added Martinez. Rooney will have to wait to see if the FA charge him for violent conduct but Clattenburg’s decision to award a free-kick is likely to work in the United player’s favour. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed: ‘It was next to nothing but there will be pressure put on the FA to do something, as there always is regarding Rooney. There is nothing in it. The Press will raise a campaign to get him hung by Tuesday or electrocuted or something like that. It is unbelievable. Watch the Press. It will be interesting to see it.’ With Rooney still on the pitch, United survived an awkward start to maintain their perfect record against Wigan, although the final scoreline was flattering. For the first 45 minutes, 40-year-old goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was their best player, making wonderful saves at point-blank range to keep out Victor Moses and McCarthy, and later a flying leap to deny Maynor Figueroa. Take that: Rooney appears to elbow McCarthy off the ball in the ninth minute of the Premier League clash Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1361014/Wigan-0-Manchester-United-4-So-DID-Wayne-Rooney-away-that.html#ixzz1F9J0ql3E

Guest howyousawtheworld
Well done to the Mingers for winning this: Mickey Mouse cup should be scrapped. Admittedly it is. Pointless Pointless comp. But I guess it makes small teams feel big. No wonder Birmingham and Tottenham always want to win it because in reality it's the only trophy those teams can win. :)
Reilly
Makes you wonder why Liverpool don't want to win it then- or maybe they do, how can we possibly know with their performances. Total shocker of a goal, I'm glad Birmingham won it, that Arsenal team had no respect for the competition (Which is understandable but Birmingham however do respect it) and just wanted a piece of silver, in reality the fans would know this doesn't count as a real success.
