At least either Man Utd or Chelsea won't be there (hopefully both), and hopefully Barnsley will beat Man City. I'm dreaming of one of the finalists getting the europa league spot so 6th place disappears.

February 22, 201313 yr Been a good night for Liverpool even though we got knocked out. Spent the whole night with some friends at the pub and the atmosphere in there and at the ground was brilliant. Every fan gave it their all at Anfield tonight but we fell just short. It's the sort of fight and passion we have to show more instead of laying down the guns usually seen after going a goal down throughout the last few seasons. You can't buy that magnificent support which is a relief because it's a long time since Anfield was that good.

February 22, 201313 yr I was half watching the game but yes, Liverpool scored the 3rd and for some odd reason, took the foot off the pedal. Really bizarre, you kinda wonder what the manager has to go through to motivate, when in a situation like that the players start going flat. I really expected Liverpool to get the 4th, but for whatever reason they pussyfooted about.

They were slightly bizarre changes particularly removing Joe Allen and introducing Jonjo Shelvey who's had something of a nightmare for Liverpool since Christmas. That said the substitutions didn't lose the tie, the damage was ultimately done in the first leg. Also the team had spent 70 minutes pretty much attacking for most of the game and it was clear they had tired out, especially given the fact that they had played 4 games in 10 days, flying in and out of St Petersburg right in the middle of it. Understandably then it's good news that the squad now have 9 days off.
February 23, 201313 yr Just focus your attention on the league now, an extra place will earn you about the same as you got from your European travels. Man City have the advantage tomorrow, having had the entire week to rest compared to a Chelsea team whom played Thursday night, so Mancini was right, getting knocked out with 3 points might have been good for the long-run
