squareonefivesix
yeah, "bit flat" - great little snippet of studio talk, makes me think of Mal Evans counting the beatles in on Sgt Pepper
blackchickintheback
Sounded like "a bit fucked" to me too. I thought it was Guy. But I guess it's "bit flat" Wonder what they were talking about....

ApproximatelyInfinite
i initially thought it was "fucked," but i'm pretty sure it's "flat." and i'm sticking with saying it's chris rather than guy...that's more chris-sounding to me.
gabby.
Well, if you think about it, to americans it sounds like 'fucked' since we dont have an accent. But if you listen to when British talk, it sounds like flat. So we'll have to wait and see.

Bonus_mosher
IT'S CHRISSSSSS!!!! I JUST listened to it about 50 times. if you listen REALLY close, you can tell it's chris. Guy says SOMETHING in the background that throws you off enough to think it's him, but it's actually chris saying "It's a bit flat"
Bonus_mosher
No, wait.... it's guy!!! no wait... it's chris.... GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm in argument with myself!
TraceOddity
I figured it was a mistake they just kept for humour value. Lots of musicians do that on their recordings. Pretty cool.

zodiac192
Wow-- really old thread, but I just thought i'd enlighten. In an interview, Chris said that it was Brian Eno complaining on the tempo: "It's a bit fast". Those are also brian's handclaps at the beginning. mhs10er
In my mind, I've always thought that it would be Christ counting, Guy saying "its a bit flat" (because "flat" sounds very Scottish to me, but I'm an American so what do I know) and Eno clapping since everyone elses hands were busy...... And I know that they rocorded in different places, so I've always imagined this one being recorded in a chruch because of the natural echo and reverb throughout the song.
