Yup. That just about covers it.;)

I gave up reading around the first paragraph. anyone that pussy-whipped doesn't deserve to be a journalist. He blatantly admits that he liked the album until his wife looked at him. Stand up for youself, man!! You're allowed your own music tastes.

so I submitted I slightly politer version to the Mail

" 'Well, I'm sorry, but as a rock critic I'm paid to have an open mind and, actually, I think the title track's quite catchy,' I said.

It was then, glancing briefly across, that I caught the dawning horror in her eyes. The horror of a woman finally realising that her husband has lost the last vestiges of his sanity. "

So you openly admit that you quite liked the album until your wife told you otherwise? Well, how sad, that you need your wife to validate your likes & dislikes for you. Seeing as though you're paid to review albums, I'd have thought you'd be able to make your own mind up without her influence.

Yes - what a wimp!!:P

This was what I was going for but much less "OMG you complete CLOWN".

Don't know if this was someone here or just a general fan, but I agree with this comment completely:

"You know, if there is one thing I can't stand, it's someone bashing other people's pleasures. I would never tell someone that their choice in music is wrong, because every one is different, and everyone likes different things. Isn't music supposed to be a form of entertainment? Since when is it expected that music make a profound, life-altering statement? Since when is it such a horrible thing to just enjoy listening to music without having to "get something" from it? I happen to really enjoy listening to Coldplay. That doesn't mean I think EVERYONE should. One of my favourite things about their music is that you CAN take it everywhere- home, work, driving, parties. Why does the writer imply that this is a bad thing? Also, I feel that Coldplay is a unique band - there are many contemporaries they are compared with that I don't prefer to listen to- James Blunt and Radiohead included. If you don't like Coldplay, fine. But it's offensive to imply that their millions of fans are sheep."

How on earth could Coldplay ever be compared to James Blunt?? Now that is a joke!!:stunned:

I saw this comment on the site as well, and completely agree with it! It's very well thought out! Also, it's funny that this 'journalist' is implying that all Coldplay fans are 'sheep when he is actually the only one demonstrating any of the traits of a sheep. He changes his opinion at the drop of a hat when his wife gives him a dirty look? He publishes a Coldplay-bashing article along the lines of pretty much all of his 'respected' peers (please note the quotes ;) )....this writer is demonstrating the characteristics of 'sheep' more than any Coldplay fan ever has or will. At least we can comfortably enjoy what we like without being pushed around by other people.

All I will say is this: If you genuinely like coldplay, then there is no need to worry about what other people think. for example, people call me gay at school because I listen to them. But you know what, I don't care what they think. I like listening to them, being that they are my favorite band. however, if you want something to blame for their not straight reputation, then blame the 40-year-old virgin movie. They have that joke in there: "You know how I know youre gay? because you listen to coldplay!" what nonsensical rubbish!!!

The film? Most definitely!!

Very nicely put Jenjie :D

ty :) but I don't think the Daily Mail agrees with you. They haven't added it on yet and its been nearly 2 hours :(

They moderate their comments, go figure :dozey:

Grr I hate it so much, the whole paper is a disgusting, sexist rag

I quite like the daily mail, I prefer it to a newspaper
- reader on the daily mail

Few facts about the daily mail....

- They supported Nazi Germany, they even wrote Hitler a letter after Munich hoping he would become as liked in Britain as William the Conqueror.

- They think all food additives are bad, this was their headline story when all the other papers had the abduction of a girl (that had shocked the nation) as thier headline.

- They hate video games, take the view they are murder simulators

- They validate their comments due to the ammount of hatred they've conjured up that people send in.

- They refer to traffic cops as the 'traffic taliban' just policemen trying to do their jobs...

- Their reader base believes Abu Hansa (a hook handed terrorist) is a bigger threat to the british way of life to the Archbiship of Cantabury...

TWATS, basically.

It's funny here in America, somepeople have never heard of Radiohead. But the opposite with CP. but shame at the article

Stephen G:

R.E.M

Muse

The Last Shadow Puppets

U2

Oasis

Coldplay

Travis

Arctic Monkeys

The Verve

Franz Ferdinand

It will be a great year for music

AMEN brother...

I didn't hear of radiohead until I heard yellow by coldplay

after i searched a bit, alot of radiohead songs came up

it was great :D

I discovered them both at the same time :o

coldplay lyrics have moved me almost to tears in some cases..

this guy takes isolated examples and then decides that all the lyrics are crap..

I'm not taking his opinion seriously as he clearly has not listened to any other albums, nor has he any understanding of their music and what effect it has on millions of people like us.

haha can you be anymore pathetic?

Are you referring to yourself??

Oh my goodness. That article is quite possibly the worst thing I have ever read. Even from a non-Coldplay fan perspective you could tell that this guy doesn't know the first thing about music.

What is this?
