June 13, 200818 yr You guys need to get a grip. The majority of people that don't like Coldplay have similar reasons as this guy does for not liking them. It just so happens that this guy gets paid to give his opinion to the masses. Get over it. If you like Coldplay, then like them, just because this guys doesn't, why should you care? Its his (and many other peoples) opinion. Pick a band you don't like that is commercially successful, lets say Oasis. For everyone of you that thinks Oasis are tired old Beatles rip-off arseholes, there is someone that thinks just the opposite. And when someone writes a scathing Oasis slag off, you read it and think "Yes, thats spot on..." while someone else cries out foul. Well there are just as many people reading this about Coldplay that think its spot on too. Why do you think every person on the planet has to love this band? Why you all need to whine and cry everytime someone slaggs off your mostest favorite band, Ill never understand, it smacks of insecurity and immaturity, and goes a long way to solidify the perception that you are just a bunch of nonobjective "fans" that refuse to see reality..its an OPINION...just like your opinion is that they are the best! You can plug your ears and scream as much as you like, but there are going to be a lot of people that dont like Coldplay, no matter how much YOu love them...get over it. I completely agree. It's a total waste of energy.
June 13, 200818 yr dcbc, the reason we don't like this is because it's the SAME tripe we've been reading in the majority of reviews ever written about Coldplay (positive or negative). It's like the reviewers have a single checklist they're working from: you've got to mention Chris is a millionaire, that he's married to Gwyneth Paltrow, that they sound like Radiohead, that it's music for unsophisticated bedwetters. It gets old after a while, because they don't actually criticize the songs themselves. That's the art, and it's what counts. I don't care that there are people who dislike Coldplay. What bothers me is they all seem to have jobs writing music reviews for major publications and periodicals. It's proof there should be more diversity in this field. That's like sending a bunch of men to review the latest Sex and the City movie or a bunch of women to go review a Bond flick.

It would just be nice to see a critic of Coldplay actually slag them off for pertinent reasons, not just because of who Chris is married to. Or how much you think they're like Radiohead. June 13, 200818 yr i just think its due to the fact that its good reading....people will read something bad oversomething good....if they did a good artical...would this many people read it...maybe not be'cos we end up hearing the same thing...but when something bad is writen then people r gonna read... an example of this is that chris does some much for charitys like oxfam, yet you never see in the news that he's doing all of this, but yet when it comes to him beating up the pap its all over the news...they just go for the bad things bcos it sells (IMO) thats why i dont bother reading newspapers...they dont know what they're talking about

I would also suggest that there are many on this board that would read those Oasis reviews, and agree with them, while there were Oasis fans that would whine and cry that they were WRONG!! waaa! I have objectively decided that the guy is a useless journalist jumping on a bandwagon rather than talking about things that matter. I would say the same if he wrote an article rechurning the reasons why the Iraq war is bad. He is being paid to write the exact same as 1000 others. That is what people are generally annoyed about. If people don't like Coldplay, fair enough, but when they say it as if people who do are brainwashed idiots, I will take exception, thankyou ever so much. Music taste is individual, I couldn't give a flying toss if that man doesn't want to listen to Coldplay's music, to suggest that they steal from other musicians and do it badly is what bothers me, because it implies we are all completely hypnotised morons. We're not. Are we? I get what you're saying here but I get the feeling you're just disagreeing with the concensus in order to draw attention, and that's going to cause more antagonisation than this article is at the moment...

Maybe - but I still think it's far better to discuss why you like one track, album, or band member better than another rather than wasting time picking the bones out of an extremely poorly-written, negative article which appears to have been concocted for the sole purpose of annoying Coldplay fans. In other words, I'm sure this is the kind of reaction he was seeking when he set to work on it. There will always be blinkered people who will detest the band regardless of their achievements, and I for one don't care as long as these goons stay away from this board and spout off somewhere else.;) However, if you really want to spend precious time ranting away at this moron of a guy, then so be it. It's your choice.;)
