no on the setlist she has taken there was written the title "farewell to new york" not "fairytales of new york"...so the first is a verse of "body of an american", the second is another the pogues's song right? but she filmed all so we are lucky! tomorrow i'll write to denise for more infos :) good night everyone

edit: my message is old now eheh

Thats class! I'm thinking about bringing my mp3 player with me tomorrow to record the gig (I know it probably wouldn't be good quality) but would there be any kind of hassle with security or security checks to get this inside? or would they think nothing of an mp3 player?

Hello. First time posteer, long time reader.

Just back from the O2 and what a fantastic show! Never considered myself a huge Coldplay fan. Always thought (and still do) that their best album will be their greatest hits but found myself loving VLV so got a ticket when they went on sale.

So glad I did now. Fairytale went down like a house on fire being Dublin.

they came on at 21:15 and finished around 10:50 I think?? ...... and they didn't discard jingle bells..... and they sang Fairytale of new york instead of DWNC ;)

No issues with security.... they are mainly checking womens bags - thats about all. Fantastic venue! So much better than the old point theatre!

Photos: Coldplay, The O2, Dublin

With just a couple of days to Christmas, Coldplay became one of the first bands to play Dublin’s newly revamped Point Depot. The venue’s rechristening under the corporate banner of the O2 should have been a sign that Coldplay too, are now a huge corporate entity. Having easily sold out two nights in the O2 and with a huge outdoor summer show coming to the capital in 2009, tickets are being touted outside for well over €100 as fans made the long walk down the quays in the drizzling December rain.

We had wanted to bring you a review of the bands performance, lots of audience feedback on the gig and the new venue but sadly, corporate PR companies got in the way. Coldplay are at a stage where they are worth so much money that they have people who enforce rules on the way the media can report their shows. The photographers were ushered into an area, no more than 10 foot by three foot, about 100 metres from the centre of the stage. We could photograph songs 2, 3 and 4 only. Coldplay’s PR company made us sign contracts to hand over all copyright of the pictures to them to exploit as they wish. Not really the sign of a band who are looking for attention at a time when most bands need as much press coverage as possible to survive in a troubled financial time.

After the three songs we were escorted out of the venue and as for what the remainder of the show was like you’ll need to do the review for us in the comments below as we weren’t allowed back in to see for ourselves.

Enjoy the few pictures that we have for you and let us know what you thought of the shows on Sunday & Monday.

Just a short post as we're here searching for them around Dublin..let's say we discovered where they're staying :D

Yesterday was absolutely amazing, the irish crowd is great and everything went smooth, they tried to make us sit but it was impossible and everyone stood up the entire time and danced on the floor.

Will singing Fairytale of New York was a real surprise and it was even greater listening to all the crowd singing with him (apart from us since we didn't know the words)...and I got it on video with Jingle Bells as well.

Setlist was the same as London except for the abovementioned cover of The Pogues, Chris sang also Back for Good at the end of The Scientist.

I was front row close to the B-stage but my camera sucks so my pics won't be all that great.

Roll on this evening...we're going to stalk them in a short time at the venue :wacky:

Just about that slightly bitter State review, there were press photographers at the side of the left hand catwalk from just before the show started and for the first 3 or 4 songs.

Obviously State offended someone in Coldplay's PR department.
