I'm also slowly working my way through Toby Young's How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. I haven't seen the film but have reserved it on DVD, well Simon Pegg's in it isn't he and as you know he's a friend of the band.

I finished that a few weeks ago. Really good.

  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. Hey there Oracle! I've heard a live Coldplay song that starts "Honey, its been a long time coming, and I can't stop now..."? Can you please tell me what this track is and where can I find it? It sounds beautiful! Thanks!

The Oracle replies:

This is Gravity, which was first played live during the Rush of Blood tour. It was officially released by Embrace as a single in 2004. Coldplay later recorded it in 2005 and it appeared on the Talk single and that's where you can find it.

Q. Hi, Oracle

I can't get what does happen at this time? Are you sure that you are playing in Japan from Feb 11 to Feb 15?

How are you gonna held between a charity concert and

the concerts in Japan?

The Oracle replies:

Yes we're sure and then heading for London to play the Charity show on the 18th February.

Q. Hey Oracle! I know you don't answer questions on weekends but do the questions that are sent in on weekends get read or put aside? I realised recently that I've probably sent in several questions on our Monday while it's still been Sunday in the UK.

PS Kudos to Chris for sewing the Pakistani flag onto his Viva jacket, I noticed it watching the XFM set.

The Oracle replies:

There's huge vault of questions now, some waiting to be read, some waiting to be answered and to tell you the honest truth.. some waiting to be deleted!

I look at them all regardless -they're not dated anyway - so just 'cause I don't answer at weekends doesn't mean I expect you guys to not ask at the weekends.

Q. Hi Oracle,

I've been looking everywhere, and I couldn't find anything about it... Where could I find Chris Martin rings? Those that seem red/blue/green/yellow plaster...

I really would like to get them, and I've been investigating and I found out that they are from Oxfam Fair Traid campaign, but I don't know where could I buy them.

Thanks, Álvaro

The Oracle replies:

Well he doesn't wear them anymore; that was on the Twisted Logic tour around the X&Y campaign. They weren't rings; you're nearer with thinking they look like plasters. It was simply coloured electrical tape. You can buy them online or in many shops that sell such things.

Q. G'day Oracle,

This may sound strange but bear with me...could you please give me a list of bands that have supported Coldplay because I'd love to have a listen!

thanks from Aussie!

The Oracle replies:

Of course there are copious amounts of bands that have taken to the stage before Coldplay, possibly too many for me to name right here, right now but I shall take a deep breath and list as many as immediately pop into my mind! Okay in no particular order here we go...

Mercedes, Lowgold, Grandaddy, Betchadupa, Ron Sexsmith, Rilo Kiley, Fiona Apple, Youth Group, Doves, Elbow, Interpol, One Giant Leap (remember that?), The Music, Ash, Eisley, Feeder, Albert Hammond Jr, Goldfrapp, Ian McCulloch, Morning Runner, Supergrass, Richard Ashcroft, The High Wire, Jon Hopkins, Eugene Francis, The Domino State, Santogold, Duffy, Shearwater, Sleepercar, Decoder Ring and this year we have Girls Aloud and Jay Z confirmed. Phew my head hurts and I know I haven't listed them all, but that's plenty to be getting on with yes?

Oooh she posted those late :D I checked before and there was nothing.

Working late???

Preparing something special, maybe??? :D

Q. All knowing Oracle who is Phil Harvey and Roadie #42 im kinda new to the site but absolutely love Coldplay and congrats to them for winning 3 Grammys.

The Oracle replies:

Phil Harvey is the "5th member" of the band and is their closest confidante. He was their manager in their early days and steered their career during the first 2 albums. Roadie #42 is crew member extraordinaire who not only writes blogs for our delectation but does a host of other jobs too.

Q. hey! i bought a concert ticket 2 months ago for Coldplay's wembley'stadium show in september, and i didn't recieve my tickets yet...is it normal? or is there a problem? do i have to contact someone? thanx for your answer.

The Oracle replies:

I admire your eagerness but you're way too early; don't worry. The tickets could show up two weeks before the show, as is standard policy.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I feel that we require a new name for the song 'Lost!' which became 'Lost?' (acoustically) and then 'Lost+' and 'Lost@' (with Jay-Z and Live).

Now we have a live acoustic version with Jay-Z and no idea what to refer to it as.

Perhaps I could suggest:

Lost^ (as there must be a use for them putting that symbol on computers)

or

Lost£ (as a symbol of British dominance at America's most importance music awards)

Either would clear up the confusion.

Dave

The Oracle replies:

Ah good point Dave. I like your suggestions but as you say, this is just Lost? with Jay Z adding his rap from Lost+. I guess we could refer to the rendition performed at the 51st Grammy Awards as Lost?+.

N.B: The full stops are placed grammatically, they're not different versions of Lost!

:laugh3::laugh3:

What could "Lost?+." be?

The dot could be the rhythmic sound of drool dripping to the floor because of us watching Chris during the performance!!!

Q. I was watching the Grammys and I noticed how Chris added some lyrics to "Viva La Vida". I liked the extra lyrics he added. Is there any chance the band might re-release the song with the added lyrics?

The Oracle replies:

No, because that song has been released and there'll be no re-release with alternative lyrics or otherwise. They're not actually new lyrics that he's singing, if you see the question answered immediately before this one, you will find the answer. Chris does this a lot, he adds lyrics from either his favourite song at the moment or someone he wants to pay homage to, so it's not unusual at all.

Q. I noticed that during the performance of Viva La Vida during the Grammy's Chris sang a little ditty from Bruce Springsteen's "Working on a Dream", and I was just wondering what the band thought of the Boss's new album (and what do they think about "Girl's in their Summer Clothes" beating out "Violet Hill" for Best Rock Song).

The Oracle replies:

I promise you Chris wouldn't have added those lyrics if he didn't the song. They're fans of Bruce and you have to remember 3 Grammy awards out of 7 is amazing and the band are more than happy with that! They won't see it as losing out to Bruce.

Q. Hi Oracle! I am deeply confused about something and hope you can bring clarity to my puzzled mind!!

WHO is Robert Plant, and WHY is he worthy of record of the year AND album of the year??? I have never heard of him!!

Congrats to Coldplay on three grammys though:)

Thanks wise one!

The Oracle replies:

Some might say Robert Plant was in the best band EVER. He's a vocal rock legend for sure and I highly recommend you check his legacy out. Start with Led Zeppelin that help shape music for every generation that follows. Or you could check his solo stuff, or as you mention above, his Grammy award winning collaboration with Alison Krauss.

Q. Hi Oracle, one question for you.

I have my exams coming up, and they fall around the concert date which Chris & co. are coming. So which do I go to? The concert? Or study for my exams?

The Oracle replies:

Personally it depends on how ready you feel you are for your exam. I went to see U2 the morning before a German Aural examination and it was a long round trip. To quote Chris, I was scared, I was scared, tired and under prepared. I did get a grade B but to be honest, it was a risk. I think there's room for both but you need to work hard and look upon the concert as a treat for your efforts.

Q. Dear Mr.Oracle,

whats the best way to get really good seats at a Coldplay concert?

a) calling on the phone, the moment they go on sale

b) online with fast internet

c) camping outside the box office to be first in line.

d) divide into teams so we can do all of the above

please answer me! i need these tix!

The Oracle replies:

You know I always forget about the box office option. I use online but like to know where the seats are and that can take time. You could be throwing the seats back into the pot to try for better ones and find it sold out in the meantime!

I once had seats for a band right at the back bought online. I called the agent up and started to book two more. She quoted me same price for similar area and I asked "don't you have anything nearer the front?"

It turns out that yes she did, 4th row in fact and they were cheaper! Best seats seem to refer to having the best overall view of the show but as we fans know, we want to be in close proximity to the stage!

I therefore reckon that D is probably the best way to get good seats. Failing that A followed by C and the most popular B would be my last favourite - even though yes, I've admitted to using it the most.

And here's one from someone who clearly got out of the wrong side of the bed today...

Q. Dear Oracle,

Can you start answering interesting questions and not just ones that can be easily answered via google, or youtube...

The Oracle replies:

Why didn't you start by asking one then? Only joking. You can't dictate who would rather use a search engine or me. That said it is sometimes rather perplexing...

I asked about 10 questions today , Maybe i will finally get answered!

I just sent this question

Hi oracle!

My question is about the tour, but don't worry... it's not "when will coldplay come to my country?", I know that Mr. Anchorman is the one who posts about those things :P ... well I want to know how do they decide which countries/cities they will visit, do they have any influence in that or it's about the contracts and the tour manager decides? do the guys say for example "we would like to go to south africa" and then they just set up a date there?.

have a nice day dear Oracle!

ps: a latin american tour would be awesome, I bet the oracle would love this part of the world! :)

it's just that I'm sooo desesperate about a tourdate here :P

A lovely, respectful question - I'm sure it will get answered!

I love it Lore!!!!!!! :D

Hopefully she'll pick it up.... and if she doesn't i'll post it in my sig so she'll see it when she posts here

That's a great question, Lore! :)

hahaha I hope she'll reply it :bomb:
