Man, it's bizarre how much we (sort-of) have in common...

Both lefties!

I'm from the South yet my parents are Geordies - you live in Sunderland!!

When I was at school, our German exchange went to ... Aachen!!!

I lived in Dortmund for my year abroad which is just up the road from ... Koln !!!! (I had some great nights out there!)

That's also interesting, as I live about an hour's drive from Dortmund and also lived in the Cologne area for about three years.

I'm abidextrous. It's kind of annoying

I assumed you lived in England because of the flag under your status. Wow, this is like Six degrees of separation or something...

Yup. Cologne's now about an hour's drive away too. I'm closer to Dusseldorf.

Cologne is the best city for concerts. I'm seeing Coldplay and Marillion there in the next few months.;)

i've only had one teacher who didn't allowed to be called by her first name and that's it!

I call all the others with their first name. Well actually i never remember my teachers first names so i just have to go "heey you over there! I need some help!"

Uh-oh!

Well here's some less-than-pleasing news from the BBC's website:

Scientists have discovered the first gene which appears to increase the odds of being left-handed.

The Oxford University-led team believe carrying the gene may also slightly raise the risk of developing psychotic mental illness such as schizophrenia.

The gene, LRRTM1, appears to play a key role in controlling which parts of the brain take control of specific functions, such as speech and emotion.

The study appears in the journal Molecular Psychiatry.

The brain is set up in an asymmetrical way.

In right-handed people the left side of the brain usually controls speech and language, and the right side controls emotions.

However, in left-handed people the opposite is often true, and the researchers believe the LRRTM1 gene is responsible for this flip.

They also believe people with the LRRTM1 gene may have a raised risk of schizophrenia, a condition often linked to unusual balances of brain function.

:shocked2:

Statistically 87% of the population is - yet only 59% of Coldplayers are

Are fans of Coldplay more likely to suffer from mental illness??? Kind of calls Chris Martin's idea of us all being intelligent, good-looking, wonderful people in to question!

Then again, he is a left-hander himself...

Thought I'd bump this old poll to see if there's anyone new who hasn't voted...

i think we already had a thread like that ...

to write i am right handed although everybody expected me to be left handed... and for other things i am left handed at times... (comb hair for instance).

that can be considered to be ambidiextrous? :inquisitive:

'cause honestly i dunno what to answer on the poll...

btw my grandpa was ambidiextrous.
