🌙 COLDPLAY ANNOUNCE MOON MUSIC OUT OCTOBER 4TH 🎵

BEWARE OF STUBHUB

I am a HUGE Coldplay fan, as I know many of you are. I have seen the X&Y show 4 times, once at the Garden, once in Raleigh Durham, and twice at Nassau Coliseum. I am so excited to see the Viva La Vida tour in DC this weekend. But I had an awful STUBHUB experience that I would like to share with all serious ticket buyers for Coldplay. I bought two high priced tickets ($1900) for 4th row center back in March on STUBHUB. The tickets were confirmed by STUBHUB in March, reconfirmed last week and then cancelled yesterday. Either the tickets were sold to a higher bidder or the seller was not legitimate. The company does not own any comparable tickets at this late date to replace them with so I am out of 2 great seats to the show. This was a graduation present for my daughter and her friends (who also LOVE Coldplay). We are flying down, have a hotel, and a rental car. I have managed to find 2 not so great seats, but am really disapointed that after so much planning, the experience is ruined. BEWARE OF STUBHUB!! They cannot guarantee comparable seats!!!

in one of the blog entries on coldplay.com, they mention how the first five rows are not up for sale. the band keeps them and on the night of the show, distribute them in the nosebleed sections. So, yeah i think your instinct is right-the seller wasn't legitimate.

Are you saying it's now always worth buying a "nosebleed" ticket as you might be rewarded with a front-row ticket? Are they doing that everywhere, including London?

And how do they select the lucky people??

I think Miller (aka Roadie #42) basically went into the nosebleed seats, looking for some of the biggest fans, and just essentially started handing out front row tickets. As said already, he tells the story in one of the blogs at coldplay.com...#14, actually. http://coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=79&page=0

I think a fairer way to do it would be to list all the numbers of the relevant seats, then draw out the lucky ones and go find the occupants. You shouldn't hand them out based on how people look or what they're wearing, as that doesn't mean a thing.;)

^i think it's worth it only if you know what Coldplay's crew members looked like...maybe can even put a name to a face. One of them just randomly goes up to a particular nosebleed section and ask people if they will like better seats. I think they are doing this for all dates...i know for U.S, it's definite.

When i was at the forum in L.A. there were a bunch of girls shrieking with excitement because they were escorted to actual front row seats and i thought, 'what's wrong with these girls? didn't they already know that they were sitting front row? i thought they were really pathetic and should maybe go out more, if this excites them that much...haha. but since reading that blog entry, it all makes sense.

I think they do it during the show... which means if you're standing up and dancing and singing and otherwise just really into it they would see you and pick you to go down to the better seats.

And mqrun45, that really sucks. I know how awful I would feel if that happened to me. I hope you get another chance to see them with such great seats if they come back around on this tour!

Or what would be even more fair is to distribute these exclusive tickets to coldplaying members!

Well, maybe if people are going nuts for the warm up acts because all those seats are absolutely filled by the time Coldplay takes the stage;)

I'm not sure about that b/c oxfam members get their seats from these re located ppl.

It sure feels good to vent. As of right now, I haven't gotten refunded, but they did say they would. I know getting the money back sounds like all should be OK, but I am stuck flying 5 kids down to a concert with no guarantee yet of 2 more seats. It just seems like if this was a phony seller, STUBHUB should have figured this out 3 months ago when I bought the tickets. $1900 is a lot of money!!! I bought them when we thought the show was in July and we were in the city anyway looking at colleges. When it was rescheduled, I told STUBHUB I would stand by the tickets for the new date even though we had no reason to be in DC anymore (but seeing Coldplay is a good one). Now I am committed with airfare and 4 other tickets!!! And if I knew a month ago, I could have had more choices with seat selection. Now, everything is sold out. Well, what a great website, and what great fans who listened to me all day. I know I will get down there and it will all be OK. And when the band starts to play...i'll forget how many rows closer I should have been. I can't wait to hear "lost" live...

They do it before the show... mostly during the opener. I was in row 6 and all five rows in front of me were filled atleast half an hour or so before Coldplay took the stage. (This included a giant who was brought down from the nose bleeds and placed directly in front of me. It was awesome, lol)
