X & Y Coldplay or Viva La Vida Coldplay?

it's cool how they are really sticking to that "home made feel" they have been talking so much about... ie. Violet Hill video, the viva la vida music videos, their clothes, hand painted instruments, even their concerts seem more homey and less wrought with spectacle... truth be told though i miss some aspects of the grandeur that was the X&Y Coldplay... the Speed of Sound and Fix You music videos had such a galactic scale it was very dazzling but at the same time well balanced with their "down to earth" personalities... and their concerts are certainly more intimate this tour but the set-list of songs seem, at least to me, to be too epic to be played with that intimate mindset... (except Lovers in Japan, that part of the concert is perfectly sublime)

i love the clothes the instruments and the sound of the new album... but honestly i'd like to see a video from them that looks like it cost more than $200

Overall I'm not a huge fan of the costumes, but I like their new videos. They show a side of the band thats a bit more organic, and the "cover video" is just brilliant. Where I do miss some of the grandeur is their live shows, the lighting and atmosphere and whatnot were just a little more special last time around, so I guess you could say I'm on the fence about it, I like aspects of the change and dislike others. I'd like to see them strike a nice balance in the future.

How on earth does the official VLV video look home-made?

it's all shot in close-ups against a green screen with just a bunch of after effects added to it.... they probably did it in the Bakery considering they built a green screen room in there

It's not really home-made though!

I'd imagine the technology they used to make it alone cost billions of dollars. Or something.

In any case, I like the new image, don't miss the grandeur at all. This is the first tour I've seen where it looks as though they're a real ARENA BAND but still have that CONNECTION. I think the image helps in that.

I'm still waiting for a story video though :(

I'll take parachutes clothes, together will a VLV tour setlist performed AROBTTH tour style at X&Y/twisted logic tour concerts :P.

I couldn't agree more and more parachute songs on VLV setlist and\or warning sign!!!!!!!!!!!! -Wait there's a green screen room in the bakery ?!! jeez besides concerts they really never have to leave that place !

I think a balance between granduer and personal connection would be the ideal thing, but like they've said, they're still figuring stuff out on tour and i think that extends to the videos. im not a fan of the videos much either, but i think the hype one had some good transitions from time to time.

but if my guesses are correct, one of the videos we get will be be a story. i dont see them not doing one like that this time. i mean they didnt really do one like that with x & y so we're due.

i like the new material a lot more though, but im not sure that really relates to what you're asking here.

Viva la Vida style all the way.The videos are great both VLV and Violet Hill.Love the costumes cause they're (more) colorful....which is not difficult since they were in black for x & y.I adore the epic sound of it all.I'm a history student so I'm all into the epic stuff,Romans, missionaries, kings and castles,witches,cavalries...etc.The tour is also fantastic and I had the best time at the concert. It's both grandiose and intimate. They managed to mix both in a nice way.Great art as well: album cover, instruments, etc....

Chris martin and all of Coldplay have stated that VLVODAAHF is the best thing they have ever done as a band, and who am I to disagree? I love everything about VLV. They gave their band a "theme" that we can all stand behind. the viva theme. The website is revamped and it makes me feel more connected to them. Im always goin on it looking for new updates. The artwork, the clothes, the concerts, everything ties in with each other and I feel like I've grown closer to the band from this album.

I'be never been to a Coldplay concert (yet), but I would say rather connection than 'big-arena-playing-like', where you feel you've got a shitty seat/standing.

I like the drama they've added with the new album in contrast to X&Y, which to me could get a little boring in the tune (it's the album I've listened the least to) and with the all dark clothes. But I really liked the "Fix You" and the "Speed of Sound" videos.:)

If I were to pick one it would be X&Y easily. It has far more 'sing along, sing out loud' songs, it rocks a bit harder and has some great slow downs. I do appreciate and am not disappointed with VLV, but x&y has inched its way to the top of my Coldplay chart just ahead of Rush of Blood....

VLV has to much instrumental, and it seems like they mixed down the vocals over a good part of it......
