I spent my childhood being mocked by other kids... now I'm a teacher and it's the kids in my class that mock me :laugh3:

Ironically, when I was a kid, I was really in to A-ha... and it turns out Coldplay were too! So I guess I was always going to love them.

It's funny how worked up people get about Coldplay. People who hate them, really hate them

Ooooh you teach high school or primary? :D or neither

Yeah i've had all coldplay related conversatiosn with haters  them saying "coldplay are shit!" and me saying "well millions of people who buy their albums disagree" and then them going "so!? theyr'e still shit" proving absolutely nothing! and then they mention a band i've never heard of saying theyr'e amazing...just stupid conversations

I teach High School. My Tutor Group are Year 9, so they've always got plenty to say for themselves. One boy in particular really tickles me when he does his "Coldplay are crap" routine. He gets this really cross look on his face

I'd admire his passion... if it wasn't for the fact that the band he always throws back at me as a beacon of musical genius is Slipknot!!!

I can't stand slipknot or any heavy metal for that fact

The heaviest i can go is Muse

My mate went to a slipknot concert recently and were like

"Yay! we're breaking ribs tomorrow!" and i was like "what!? you're actually getting excited about getting hurt!?"

Crazzzzy!

I know. This boy comes from a very nice, middle class family and his parents have very high expectations for him. I think Slipknot is his way of rebelling. Bless!

They do seem like really nice guys when i've saw them in interviews :D

I'm still unhappy about razorlights place in this list

Gotta get out of TV

Just pick a point and go

The ticker-tape tangles my feet

As I search for a face that I know

Respect :)

there are some bands i didn't listened yet.. :embarassed: will give them a listen soon.

i like the top 5. :D

Really satisfied with the final list. :wink2:

Hey, great list. 3/5 of my votes were in the top ten so I'm pleased with that

Thanks Space Cadet for all your hard work - you are a gem :)

Sorry, to be ignorant but if Viva was the winner why was it not #1..? Was it disqualified from the actual list for being sooo damn good :)

Yay! Powers back on (for now) If I suddenly disappear again for a long stretch of time, it's because of the storm. Anyway,

Short anwer? Yes.

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that it would win on this board, and there was talk of making it ineligible to begin with. Besides, the point of the list is really to illuminate other music and the runners up deserved the glory. On the other hand, many people wouldn't make a list that didn't have VLV on it- they would feel like they were lying.

So it was agreed that if VLV won, it would get it's own special category to leave room in the top 5 for other deserving albums.

Very cool! :D, I'm sorry that some of my videos didn't work....
Thank-you again for that. No problem about the not working ones, if one was blocked they all were from that artist- it's the labels that do it, and just having the video picked out made a big difference for finding one that did work.

(how the hell did the kooks beat razorlight!?)

Anyway well done space cadet! what's your name by the way? it's surely not space cadet that's a silly name! (If it is actually space cadet i apologise for the words i've just typed...It's cool!...like a cadet of space and that. )

My name is Mo (although some people around here still remember me as Erin... long story) I like Space Cadet though- it has a great double meaning for me in that I both have a very short attention span and love scifi. :nice:

Konk is an incredibly boring album...

I know, but words like dull and bland just don't seem strong enough. As for The Kooks, I think it's the guys voice that really annoys me.

:laugh3: I love how everyone's tastes can be so different. I quite like the Kooks, but I can't stand Razorlight for reasons I have yet to figure out. And the main reason I like the Kooks is because of his voice, it's so unique and interesting- it's what kept me listening to them even though I didn't 'get' them at first like everyone else did.

I'll agree though, Konk was an ok album with just a few great songs on it. It's not one I'd listen to all the way through very often if I owned it. But "Sway" is such an amazing song- one of my favorites of the year. It kills me every time I hear it. :dead:

 Shocking! you hate my favourite band

Cool i'll just call you space cadet then  :D

has this album thing been done ever year then? since im new (well..this year) i have no idea.

^I've tried, dude. They trigger my ADD switch or something because I can't sit still through a whole song. Sorry. *shrugs*

You can call me Mo if you want, it's a lot shorter to type. ;)

Yes, Nik (Ondes Martenot) started the album countdown for 2006 and established the point system I use, then after he disappeared I took over last year. If you go to the voting thread you'll see links to all of the threads from past years. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49796

I haven't even listened to half the albums at the top of the list haha.

Yeah, Sway is a great song so is See The Sun, Always Where I Need To Be and shine on isn't bad, all the other songs on the album are boring/average

Great list! Thanks so much Mo, bring on 2009!

Though I gotta say there were heaps of surprises on there, not sure I agree on all of it but that's democracy for you.

Haha sounds fair enough to me - gotta give the others a chance :)

Elbow at number 1 of the best album of the year which isn't viva la vida chart is a shocker?

Why is that, it's a brilliant album which narrowly missed out on my top spot based on artwork :P

^ Figured you would like how high Elbow was. What was your top album again?:
