Agreed, really don't like to see another Williams-Williams match

Well I wouldn't, because I'd find something else to do instead!!:smug:

Venus is 3 sets up at the moment

Three sets??:stunned:

I need sleep.

I meant 3 games.

But now she's serving for the match, not looking good for Safina.

Talk about getting ripped apart what a complete whitewash of Safina.

Yawn... looks like i'll be giving the women's final a miss yet again.

Over in 51 minutes.

Gotta find something to do on Saturday now.

Talk about getting ripped apart what a complete whitewash of Safina.

Me too. Watching paint dry now seems a far better option........................ :dozey:

I wonder if you did an analysis of the hormones present in the Williams sisters, would you find they had a similar balance as what male tennis players have?

Maybe now that science has progressed, it's time to separate players based upon hormonal differences rather than sex.

That's a bit harsh.

he Queen could watch Andy Murray's Wimbledon showdown... as tickets for men's final sell for £20,000 EACH

Tennis star Andy Murray could find himself playing in front of the Queen if he reaches the Wimbledon final.

Speculation is growing that the Queen will be invited to the Championship to watch the 22-year-old Scot compete for the men's title if he wins his semi-final match.

The last time she was at the Championship was in 1977 to present Virginia Wade with the women's title trophy - the Venus Rosewater Dish.

His achievements on the tennis court have been acknowledged by the Queen, who sent him a letter wishing him well at Wimbledon.

She also congratulated Murray on winning the Aegon Championships at Queen's just before the tournament began.

The tennis star goes through his paces as the mercury hits 32C this afternoon

Before watching Wade's victory in 1977, the Queen had attended Wimbledon on two other occasions, 1962 and 1957.

But tennis fans hopeful of seeing the monarch in SW19 could be disappointed because, even at the height of Tim Henman's attempts to win Wimbledon, the Queen did not take a seat in the royal box.

News of the potential Royal visit comes as it emerged that tickets to the men's semi-final are selling for as much as £20,000 on the black market.

Fans began snapping up tickets for the men’s final even before the British number one has won tomorrow’s semi-final with American Andy Roddick.

Online ticket retailer Viagogo was offering pairs of debenture tickets for the men's final for £10,878.

A statement on the website says anyone who purchases tickets on the site will receive a 100 per cent refund if Murray wins the title.

Viagogo chief executive Eric Baker said: 'Before Murray's game yesterday tickets for the semi-finals were trading for an average of £1,500.

'In the few hours after he won, the price rocketed by 180 per cent. If he wins his semi-final, tickets for the final are sure be well in excess of £10,000 and may even be closer to £20,000.

'We have never seen anything like this and we could be set for a UK record for the most expensive tickets ever bought.'

And if Murray makes it to Sunday’s final, touts are expected to make it one of the most expensive seats in British sport ever.

One seller has already offered four Centre Court men’s final tickets online for £20,000 each.

Most tickets resold on the web are allowed by the All England Club as they are debenture-holders’ seats.

These tickets are sold in batches each five years with permission to be sold on.

But touts are also illegally selling seats for the finals at vastly inflated prices with many seats being sold on eBay which break the All England Club’s re-sale rules.

On eBay a pair of £100 tickets for the men’s final sold last night for £2,050. Another seller offers two debenture tickets for the final for £6,950.

There were also non-debenture tickets, with one pair offered for £2,500 and another for £1,000.

The All England Club said it would monitor any sale that broke its rules and would try to prevent the purchaser from entering.

One official said: 'There are tennis fans who will be prepared to pay a small fortune to see the final and fork out their hard-earned cash even before Andy has got there, but we advise against it.

'Every ticket is identifiable and we are on the look out for those which have been re-sold and which are not debenture seats.

'Every effort will be made to stop people from making it through the gates and we will trace the re-seller and take legal action'

A site being looked at is onlinewimbledontickets.com, set up to look like the official Wimbledon site. It apparently takes money but fails to deliver the tickets. Its phone lines were dead today.

Despite playing in 105f (40c) heat, Murray showed masterful form yesterday to dispatch Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero - a former world number one - in just one hour 41 minutes.

His quick-fire win was in contrast to his gruelling five-set, three hours 58 minute match against Stan Wawrinka on Monday night under the Centre Court roof.

By the end of that gladiatorial battle, Murray looked wiped out, sweating and gulping for air.

Mrs Murray compared watching that experience as a cross between 'sea-sickness and a heart attack'.

Two Miss Scotlands, Neive Jennings (left) and Katharine Brown (right), cannot contain their glee as they watch Andy on his way to victory yesterday

But yesterday Murray looked supremely comfortable.

During the game he hit his fastest serve of the tournament so far - 132mph.

His appearance in tomorrow's semi-final is the best performance by a Briton since Tim Henman reached the last four in 2002.

Should he go on to win Sunday's final he will be the first Briton to lift the men's trophy since Fred Perry in 1936.

Among the fans supporting him yesterday were a small army of girls nicknamed 'Murray's Maids'.

They had queued for two days to watch their hero play and they were certainly going to make the most of it.

With their faces painted blue and white and waving mini St Andrew's flags, they roared and cheered as the 22-year-old Scot demolished his opponent.

Wrapped in a Scotland flag, Rebekah Caldwell, 21, from Kilmarnock, said: 'He's got a good head on his shoulders and he's got what it takes to win, plus he's Scottish, so that helps.'

Murray also had more female support in the shape of two Miss Scotlands.

The current title-holder, Katharine Brown, and Nieve Jennings, Miss Scotland 2007, were in the audience to keep the flag flying for their compatriot.

Tennis coach and model Miss Brown went to school with Murray in Dunblane.

Murray told reporters later: 'I went to school with her, my mum used to coach her and my brother used to be best friends with her brother.

'Regardless of whether it's a Miss Scotland, which I know is the angle you'll be going for, I'm happy that one of my school friends came to watch.'

He added: 'She was quite annoying to sit next to at school.'

Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears and actress Kate Winslet celebrate his win

During the 2006 World Cup Murray famously dropped a clanger by joking that he would support 'any team but England'.

Yesterday, in a sign of his growing maturity in handling the media, he playfully refused to answer a question about who he would support in the Ashes next week. He buried his head in his hands and simply said: 'Next question.'

There was disappointment for Laura Robson when she crashed out of the girls' singles in the third round yesterday after injuring her back.

Britain's 15-year-old defending champion took Quirine Lemoine, of the Netherlands, to three sets but was clearly hampered by pain.

Well so are the Williams brothers.

Why all the hate for the Williams sisters?

Why all the hate for the Williams sisters?

That is clearly a rhetotical question!!

£20,000 :stunned:

If he wins his semi today, that will rise to £100,000.

Roger's in the finals, 7-6 (6-3), 7-5, 6-3

Awaiting Andy - Andy now.

GO MURRAY!

Roddick won the first set! but andy is up a break in the 2nd.

I don't know what the fuck is up with ESPN, but while this is going on, they're showing reruns of last years nadal final...

1-1

:edit:

Okay, apparently NBC is showing the start of the match now. Since I rather watch it then follow the score live online, I think I 'll switch off the computer so I don't spoil anything. see y'all tonight.

C'mon Roddick! :D

What the fuck? I know you aren't like obliged to support Murray, but why not?

Well done A. Rod, he stepped up his game and outplayed Murray

Federer is gunna outclass him though, I feel.

LET'S GO, ANDY! GIVE IT TO 'EM. F*CK.
