A live album sounds great, but recordings of the show you've just been too doesnt sound too flash. Another "live 2003" CD, entitled "Live 2009" or "Viva 2009" should be recorded and produced and disctributed/sold at live events for like $1. That sounds like a more feasible idea, and it could be a much greater quality too. Otherwise we are going to end up with a crapload of bootlegs on the internet that nobody is going to be able to keep up with.

That's kind of what I was thinking - if it's given out during summer, then it might be Europe/US only.

The Bafta Film awards has about 20 - 25 catergories and only 2 are exclusively British. The Brits used to be exclusively for British acts but over the years they've added more and more international catergories, but the two don't go head-to-head.

So no repeat of a Sydney live cd. Mixing it up, I guess

I think July and part of June are considered summer months too, happily :)

and I was hoping for a live stadium show dvd at the end of the year...

I've never been big on Live DVDs, but hey, if it's a free giveaway, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Granted, Chris said he would LIKE to do it. Nothing is anywhere close to set in stone, so don't get overly excited just yet.

but honestly I agree with this. like at the Grammy's we didn't have "Best American Single"

Everyone was just included in one category.. but in Britain.. they have "Best British Single"

They celebrate themselves a lot. :\

Which is the major problem of the Brit Awards, as all but 4 award areas are for British acts only. Although at least there is only a small number of awards not the hundreds the Grammies hand out :P

I actually like the Brits the way they are. If every award was open to anyone, a lot of smaller acts/artists would never get a look in. Beth Rowley wouldn't have got a nom tonight if she'd had to compete against the likes of Beyonce as well as Duffy & Adele. For young up-and-coming acts, it's really great to get that kind of attention

 

But I agree it's good that there's only a few awards
