Coldplay: "Next album will be inspired by the Middle East"

Featured Replies

are you calling george harrison music "not so smart"?

experimentation could be awesome, it'd be boring to see them making the same music in 10 years...

Middle East? Deserts? Joshua Tree?

Sounds very interesting!

Lets all sit back and let the boys rub the lamp and ride the magic carpet into a whole new direction, again....

I look forward to it.:)

Ooooh oh! I wonder what the cover art will look like. Think they'll use an Arabic style for that, too? :D

edit: This stuff can be really beautiful:

(I have no idea what it says...)

Lol I sort of thought of Joshua Tree too when I read this (Although it was more the imagery than the music, since Joshua Tree was musically much more country/americana)...And it will be their 5th album. As far off stylistically coldplay are from where U2 were at this time in their careers, VLV/Prospekt's March was much more experimental and abstract than X&Y. So if they intend to furfill "the prophesy", this next album will be groundbreakingly magnificent!

eh, don't get your hopes up. Viva La Vida was supposed to sound like it was from Latin America, and look what we got...

anyway that entire region's music is AMAZINGLY COOL. I really love Indian music especially. Still, I'm not really sure a band like Coldplay could seriously pull off sounding really Middle Eastern. They're Coldplay, for God's sake .

Still, surprises are always nice. :nice:

Coldplay’s last album was inspired by the sights and sounds of South America,...

*cough* yeah sure inspired by South America, but not a Latin American tour right?:inquisitive: *cough*

anyway.... nice article thanks! :)

they suck

VLV was the first upcoming album I really REALLY anticipated, and I learned a lot from that experience. While we all have our likes and dislikes about it, I'm perfectly content and satisfied with the way the last album turned out.

And to think this is the same album that caused me loads of frustration when we debated over what I felt was the first f*cking album title they could've thought up!!! I now know not to be dismayed or worried about ridiculous stuff like that. As stupid as they may seem at the time, Coldplay didn't and won't dissapoint.

'Yes' is one of my favorites off of VLV so I would be happy if their next album had more songs like it :)

Whatever it turns out to be though, can't wait boys!! :D

i'm so excited maybe this means they'll start touring the middle east!

my miracle!! they're not coming to chicago this year, but maybe they'll come to palestine & i'll see them there! that would be freakin awesome!!

I'm excited for this album. Yeah, it'll be different, but I'm pretty confident that it'll be somewhere along the lines of good-different. :cheesy:

OH DAMn! Im Hyped:smug: Middle East? Wow....im excited! Look how VLV turned up to be ....A Masterpiece!

This is exciting. I am studying Middle Eastern music at the moment and I really like it, it will be interesting to see what the guys do with it in the next album and how it will influence things. =)

middle east influences?! :cheesy:

the thought is making me drool :wideeyed:. however, i think they mean "middle eastern" in the sense that VLVOD was "latin." i can't imagine them pulling off much more middle eastern flavor in a song than they did with "yes," but i think this could be EPIC if it holds true by the time they get more serious about LP5.

however, i did have a laugh for a minute imagining the new LP5-era costumes being desert robes and sandals :P

rly?

Ditto. Parachutes and AROBTTH I could see being similar but X&Y has a way different sound.

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

And wind machines to entertain front row??
