Coldplay to headline All Points West festival

Good afternoon. It's been announced today that Coldplay will close this year's All Points West festival, which takes place at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, USA. The band will headline the final night, Sunday 2nd August. Tickets go on sale from Ticketmaster at 12noon EST on Friday (3rd April).

Coldplay, Tool and the Beastie Boys will headline the second annual All Points West Music & Arts Festival, to be held July 31- Aug. 2 at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan.

 

Other bands and musicians confirmed for the multi-stage festival include Echo & The Bunnymen, My Bloody Valentine, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, MSTRKRFT, Gogol Bordello, The Black Keys, Fleet Foxes, Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Arctic Monkeys. The full lineup was first revealed on local music blog Brooklyn Vegan.

 

Tickets go on sale April 3. Single day tickets are $89, while three-day passes start at $199. Organizers are offering several lay-away options as well. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Friends of Liberty State Park, which is working to make environmentally friendly improvements to the venue.

 

All Points West is produced by Goldenvoice, producers of California's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, in tandem with AEG Live. The producers have promised to improve the festival layout and transportation options from the first year, including adding additional ferry service at a reduced price from Manhattan, free rides on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail trains for festival ticket holders, and larger concession areas with shorts lines at the concert. I am going for this show i saw it.:)I am cancelling my Pittsburgh date for this.

FINALLY!!!!!! This is better than last year's lineup(only Radiohead was a must see last year). I still only would want to see 2 of the 3 days. And I happened to be on Governor's Island and overheard the music on one of the days. Hopefully it'll be better organized in terms of transportation this year, not enough ferries last year.

Anyone with me on this being a pretty weak lineup? I'm going all days for sure, but for me at least, it's really only to see them, arctic monkeys, and MGMT; the others are just for fun.

so the time for the concert is 7-11 pm? it's not an all day thing?

edit just went to website - they said it opens at 12 and will have lineup posted a few days ahead of time. this location and date on calendar is making me wonder if they will do jones beach

I think I'm going to volunteer with Oxfam for this concert. I'm too short to see anything anyways. I want to see Vampire Weekend on Friday but that's the only other band I really want to see. They also got a lot of the side characters from Flight of the Conchords on the comedy stages.

Been there but for the Hicksville train. The driving would cost as much as taking the train, subway, and ferry there with the tolls. You need to buy a parking pass in advance from ticketmaster too. I'm planning on taking public transportation there unless people here are going to carpool.

 

The ferry is just going to be a long wait if they don't plan enough boats. It's at the same pier as the Ikea Brooklyn ferry, down the street from the South Street Seaport.
