mtrainum
Whats your absolute favorite Coldplay song and why? Is it the lyrics, music, a memory it brings back, or a special time that happened to you while that particular song was playing? I have to say hands down for me its "Everythings not Lost" , first heard in an irish bar in Boston while on a business trip when Parachutes first came out. Crazy time in my life and that song hit me at the right moment. Anyone else?

PolarMonkey
Fix You great song...love the lyrics & the flow of the music, esp. when it gets to Jonny's guitar solo which switches the mood & builds up towards (imo) the uplifting end bit of the song. can't remember when i actually really 1st heard the song, but i recently "re-discovered" the song last year on YouTube cos of a rather well done Doctor Who fanvid. & i guess it was timing too cos i was going thru a difficult time & the song as a whole just kinda clicked with me. Caroline
The Scientist... I have no idea why, but from the moment I heard it, it just sucked me in. The piano is just beautiful on it and I love the line "Questions of science, science and progress do not speak as loud as my heart." I can only describe it as being beautifully sad song. JackD391
The Scientist. Quite possibly the greatest lyrics i've ever heard or any song. First time i heard it was when coldplay did an mtv commercial before the VMAs and it was amazing. Since then i've been sucked in.
Violet
I really and truly believe that "Swallowed in the Sea" is my favorite Coldplay song ever. I mean, it's been my clear favorite from "X & Y," but after giving it a lot of thought, it really just speaks to me in a way no other song of theirs can. I don't know why. bellynelly
speed of sound It was probably the first song I actually thought I really wanted to hear more of the band, I heard it on a radio when I was on holiday in Scotland, it was playing when I was traveling down the east coast and the scenery was gorgeous, it takes me right back there. I didn't know they were the same band who were famous for Trouble and In my place, songs that I liked, but had no interest in who sang them! Corkus
There's a lot of songs that hold sentimental value to me - Speed of Sound, The Scientist, Politik, etc. But none quite match how much I adore Clocks. Say what you want about how accessible it is to the mainstream; there's no denying Clocks' sheer beauty and majesty. The lyrics are totally open-ended, but it's more about the dominating piano as the lyrics take a backseat for the latter half of the song. When I see Coldplay in 30 years, I'll be glad to know they'll still be playing Clocks. :);)

iduran20
Viva La Vida, since the first time I heard it I just knew I had to look up the band behind it. I loved it so much. The Scientist probably comes in second, like many have mentioned before, it's so beautiful!
Escapist99
Speed of Sound was really the first Coldplay song I really got into...I was always a fan but I never looked much into them. Then Viva La Vida came out, and this band took me over, I havent stopped listening to them. As for my favorite song, probably Shiver, God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, Politik or High Speed
Isab3lla
I've already written about this in several threads but anyway, Speed of Sound for me! I heard it on a "best of 2005" cd that I got when it was christmas. I was like "Who are they and I want to hear more". I kind of knew who Chris were since he's married to Gwyneth, one of my favourite actresses. Then I saw the video of Talk and so it continued. So that's why it's so special for me. Love every second of that song.
