Satriani is such a clown, only stupid!!!!!

I HATE HIM SO MUCH:veryangry2:

Hmm...

Clowns = (Evil + Unfunny)

Satriani = [stupid + (Greedy x Bastard)]

Multiply the two, and then by association, Joe Satriani is one evil, unfunny, stupid, greedy bastard.

Agreed!

How is it 'heavily' contested. no one even knew about any of this until his stupid ass said something the day after. He really does need to keep his mouth shut, I didn't really understand a single word of what he said.

I went to his official site just for shits and giggles. And I honestly didn't know it was an official site. It looked like something a 5th grader put together. It even lists his OWN official site under the 'fan sites' heading. It really does look horrible

Ha! Funny. Whats the point of even having a 'offical site' he has no fans. :D

Eh, he's got a couple on there. There's maybe a handful of people that will post something (usually an article they found about that Chickenshit band he's in) about once a month.

:o really? lol. He better not win the law suit. I'll have to kill him.

It was weird seeing most of them talking about Coldplay. It was like being on the other side of enemy lines in Nazi Germany!

LOL. I don't think I can read any of their comments I might the computer. :lol:

None of them are really that imaginative. just like "coldplay sucks" "coldplay music is shit" and that's about it.

The Grammy for Song of the Year is awarded for the actual lyrics of a certain record.

Record of the Year would actually be awarding the production values (melody) as well as the mixing, vocals, and other things.

So ummm, yeah they weren't celebrating "your" melody, it was the actual lyrics that Coldplay themselves wrote.

Wow, then he really is a moron :veryangry:

I just went and listened to Satriani's song. Hardly similar at all. How convenient that the songwriters who copied him happen to be the biggest band in the world? What a douche. There's only so many note combination possibilities in the world as it is.

I don't remember hearing ONE single little tiny thing ANYTIME after Viva La Vida came out. If his email got flooded with people telling him they "ripped him off" and it was a "dagger through his heart" then why would he sit on it for 5 or 6 months, until the SECOND they were nominated for it?!

HAVE YOU ALL REALISED THIS HAVENT YOU?

Can someone tell me where all this material was posted before?

And why could "joe" not copy cat stevens song :confused:

Joe just kid himself. He could be proud that his melody sounds like VLV but he never wrote a song called Viva la Vida. He bored me:\

As most people do, i hate that bastard too.just can't help myself saying that.he is already famous, and wanted to call attention to his song.

I'm a big Coldplay fan. But I have to be honest here, I think they may have unintentionally ripped this off. It's one thing to copy a chord progression, which isn't a big deal. It's quite another to copy a melody. The vocal melody of VLV follows Satriani's chorus melody pretty much identically, the same duration and shared rhythmic sense and the same notes at the beginning of the melody. I think they also both end on F at the end of the melody.

Not to mention the chord progression is pretty much the same thing as well as the tempo. I think, of course, VLV is a much better song... but that doesn't mean it hasn't been ripped off. I think a lot of CP fans on here are being condescending towards Satriani because he "isn't as good" as Coldplay. I saw someone mocking his website's design. Just because Coldplay are more successful does not exonerate them from something like this. Especially if a Grammy is involved.

Think about if you were Satriani and you wrote those chords and that melody and a few years later some other band does almost the same thing you invented yourself and get a Grammy for it. I don't blame him.

If CP did come up with their idea on their own as well as Satriani it's one crazy coincidence. But I honestly think they may have accidentally copied something they heard somewhere or another at one time. His track came out first by a few years so it's obvious he didn't do the opposite.

... ah well.

Crazy coincidences happen all the time.

Crazy coincidences happen all the time.

So does copying someone else's melody you heard somewhere once long ago and didn't realize you were doing it.

I didn't do that myself with a melody, but I realized one day a song I was writing was the same chords as a song by Rush at a similar tempo. And I probably hadn't heard that song in years. I subconsciously probably did it because I wanted to write a song that sounded like it was from the 80s. But tons of songs use similar or the same chord progressions, it's the melody that sets them apart. And the beginning of Satriani's melody is the same exact thing as CP.

On the topic of similar sounding songs, does anyone think the bass in Yes sounds like Beetlebum by Blur?

Nothing o nCP as yet...but I'm sure the pathetic 'woe is me' tweets are to come.
