He's not the best.

Actually, the more I think about it, Will is a pretty damn good drummer given the fact he just kind of picked them up and never really intended on becoming a drummer (:guitarist:) That in itself is pretty darn cool :smash:

 

Plus, like I said before, I like his quote (now I 'officially' found it!):

"I think I’m the best non-playing drummer in the world. No one not-plays like me." :laugh3:

the sheer supremecy of his skills on VLVODAAHF's was second to none.

While I hate Blink-182, it comes to my mind in an instant that Travis Barker completely destroys Will on drums. Sorry, but it's that simple.

Got Mark on twitter, they're rehearsing every single day from 5am.

Barker completely owns Will at drums not only because his parts are much harder and much faster, but also because of what he contributes to the band. Remember, Blink is a 3-man band whereas Coldplay has 4 people, so Barker's parts have to be that much better to make up for a lack of a fourth instrument.

 

Also, look at it this way: If Barker ever left Blink, they'd be finished. His drum parts define their music. Ignoring personality and focusing strictly on the drum parts, if Will left Coldplay he could be replaced in an instant. Any decent drummer who could gel with the band and understand their style could easily fill in. His drum parts are not innovative, and certainly not what defines the band.

Maby he isn´t the best Drummer, but he´s the cutest and sweetest and sexiest and........:heart::heart:

Will is great (I'm always amazed by his energy on stage) but as to be the best drummer...Come on Roger Taylor wins hands down!!

I don't think it's categorically right though. I mean, If will left the band, then they wouldn't continue without him, I think what nick meant was 'there are plenty of drummers who COULD fill his shoes if needed'.

Exactly. I also said "strictly drumming, ignoring personality". There's no doubt in my mind that if Will left the band they would not go on since he has such a big part of the music as one of the four members. But almost any other drummer could step in and play and write the same or better drum parts.
