Featured Replies

Big ask but could someone tell me the equipment Coldplay use in their Viva La Vida Tour?

Greatly appreciated for anyone who helps me. :)

um, keyboards, drums, pianos, guitars, basses, electric stuff, guitar fx, a bell, people on and behind the stage, microphones, head-/in-ear-phones, giant speaker and pa systems...

haha, you see, please specify your wish ;)

don't forget the guitar picks....the drumsticks...the video ball thingamajigs...the sound mixers/audio consoles...

actually, i'm kinda curious as to what guitar picks & in-ear monitors they use.......weird as it is. :p

Guitar picks :idea2:

Chris and Jonny use Jim Dunlop .60mm nylon picks :P

^^ yeah i have 2 of those guitar picks, a Coldplay roadie gave them to me and a setlist last june

wow you're lucky.... or smart :wink3:

What I know for sure:

- Yamaha GT20 Piano(Chris)

- A few Fender Telecaster Thinlines(Jonny)

- Drumset+percussion(Will)

- 2 Fender Precision basses(Guy)

- Martin guitars(Chris)

- 1 Fender Jaguar bass(Olympic White)(Guy)

- 3 midi-sampler keyboards(the blue ones, one is in original color)(All)

And ofcourse their In-ears, backtrack sampler and effect pedals.

I know more, but not on this late moment of the day..

Here's what I know:

Chris:

4 Gibson Custom Shop Blues King Reissue acoustics

3 Reissue Fender Telecaster Deluxes

Jonny:

4 Vintage fender Telecaster Thinlines

Vintage Fender Jazzmaster-Sunburst

Fender Jazzmaster-Pink

Vintage Gibson Les Paul Deluxe-CherryBurst

2 Gibson J-200 Acoustics

Guy:

2 Fender P-Bass

*note while he has used the jag bass to play in the studio, he does not use it live.

Gibson Mandolin (probably a F series from the look of it)

Will:

Yamaha Drum Kit

Gibson J-200 Acoustic

Dobro Resonator Guitar

Chris and Jonny are still bothe using Fender Hotrod Deville 2x12 combos. Guy is still using his same HiWatt Rig from the Twisted Logic Era

Jonny has added a lot of rack units to his system. The main addition the pedal he uses on Lovers and LiT ii. As well as some new distortion that has replaced his old ProCo.

I imagine for the board they use high end compressors, EQ.

Jon and Chris both have a MIDI Sampler keyboard.Same Yamaha Model I believe search this sub forum for the model number. Im not 100% sure the MIDI unit they use for it. It is a rack unit though, there is no way they would use computers.

I also believe Will may have a hidden MPC somewhere on stage.

Im not sure the mics they use.

are you sure about the jazzmaster? personally, i couldn't tell whether (how the hell do i spell that?!) it is a jazzmaster or jaguar...

no? when they're on B_Stage (is that b?) playing GPASUYF/Talk, he got the jazzmaster.... i guess he just needs the Tremolo (yeeees, which is actually a vibrato, we know)

it has to be a jazzmaster or jaguar... the others don't have trems....

"Does he still use it for GPASUYF/Talk? I honestly dont know."

Yes. However the guitar he's using now may be a Jazzmaster copy as opposed to an official Fender made Jazzmaster. There are reports the guitar was built by Hugh Manson (who builds guitars for Matt Bellamy, among others.), But I've never read that in an "official" source, so who knows...:\

I know for sure that Will uses Pro-Mark Millennium II American Hickory 5B Drumsticks! (w/ white stick wrap)

(Thanks to a sweet roadie who gave them to me) :D

:drummer:

  • 2 weeks later...

So I was right infront of Jonny last night, I counted 7 Telecasters, and he does a lot of the tuning himself. A roadie handed him a guitar and he went right to tuning it up which I found weird. None the less 7.

has everybody forgotten about the lovers in japan butterflies!!??!!

^veryy important piece of equipment^

haha :)

Pictures!! We need pictures! Of all the guitars and the different paintjobs etc for all of them. Then, when we think we have it all, we'll just edit the first post with everything labelled and happy!

Is Chris' piano on the B-stage the same as the one on the A-stage? Do they move it?

No, i think the A Stage is the Digital Yamaha? for it to turn organ for fix you etc..

and the B-Stage is I assume is his old propper piano for the best sound

they both are acoustic i guess. however, the b-stage piano is painted (dots, as on jonny's les paul and the ave with the dove as on chris' guitar(on of them), the errm... keys(? i'm not english speaking actully, haha^^) , however, the colors are inverted)

I did not get pictures. He had 3 '72 Thinline Viva, Tele Delux, Viva(paint Job) Violet hill Style. Plain maple '72 Thinline

Jonny has added a lot of rack units to his system. The main addition the pedal he uses on Lovers and LiT ii. As well as some new distortion that has replaced his old ProCo.

And what pedal would that be?
