Ban the (total head-covering) burkha??

Featured Replies

The deal is that it isn't culturally acceptable for women to walk around "western" streets like that, just as it apparently isn't culturally acceptable for people to walk around the streets of Islamic countries bearing flesh of any kind.;)

Otherwise I reckon if people should be able to wear whatever they want, they should be allowed to walk around completely naked too.:smug:

Most people don't care what other people are wearing if it's not inappropriate, unless they happen to be intolerant assholes.

He's already banned, which is the most valid point of all.;)

Stop thinking that you're always right, Mark.

THIS.

Yeah. God loves me so He sent him to help me proving my points against you in this unnecessary thread.

This thread is not about Nathan. He tried to take part in the discussion and there was absolutely no need to bring up the whole banning issue.

Don't you realise that it isn't possible to discuss with people if you constantly ignore their points?

Btw Rudy, I didn't mean you.

It's a genuine news story and is therefore not unnecessary at all. Whether you agree with it or not is a different matter entirely.

;)

I nominate Mark to be the Burka ban enforcer. Nick and I will film it.

No, it isn't. It's a very biased one. The one about Britain isn't even 'news'.

He shouldn't even be here for obvious reasons, so he's completely irrelevant.

There's nothing more to discuss. People can decide for themselves and vote. Nobody's going to change their views on the subject.

You could say that about anything.;)

No, I couldn't. Not if it's a story about an ACTUAL event.

Well, I live in a foreign country too. And I haven't seen a Turkish woman who wears that thing. And as far as I know Turkey is a Muslim country.

Mark's got a point there.

Mark's got a point there.

What point?

Well, I live in a foreign country too. And I haven't seen a Turkish woman who wears that thing. And as far as I know Turkey is a Muslim country.

I've told you in MY earlier posts. I am a Muslim and I live in a Muslim country. And I too haven't seen any Muslim woman wears that thing this few years. Even women in a Muslim country don't wear it, do you think there are millions of Muslims women in an European country wear that thing?

Just ignore this post if you don't get what I mean. :)

Time will tell who wins and loses. And if the burkha is banned it'll be time to break out the champagne.:D

Mark's got a point there.

Exactly. It's very easy to discredit any story or debate just because you don't agree with it.;)

The fact is, it's out there.;)

Are you in Turkey? If so, how come?

Anyway, as far as I've heard, Turkey is a very moderate country, so I'm not surprised at all.;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I imagine there are different ways of interpreting the Koran. Tradition might be an important factor too which would explain why very few Turkish women wear a burkha. Either way, it doesn't explain why it should be banned.
