Ban the (total head-covering) burkha??

Featured Replies

Let's show Muslim girls a good time. Take them out on the town, for one night. Bar hopping, house dancing, parkour, sex parties, lines of coke... you know, the works. Then we'll see if they like that burka or not!

But don't let their daddies know, or they'll behead us.

That's what's so amusing!!

My dad was actually asked to take a photo like that outside the Houses of Parliament.

He was speechless!!:P

I'm glad you agree. Should we create a poll??:P

Let a Muslim speak! :smug:

I live in an Islamic country, I haven't seen any woman here wearing burkhas for ages! Yeah, there are some, but they're the extremists. Yes, Islam asked you to cover certain parts of your body, but that doesn't mean you have to cover your entire face.

In my opinion, the girls don't need to wear the burkhas while the government doesn't need to ban it. :D

Well spoken Rudy !

Last question : Do you agree with the "Burqa" principle ?

Last question : Do you agree with the "Burqa" principle ?

:smug:

What principle? :P

Hum.. well...

Do you think that women should wear Burqas because of the muslims religious principles ?

I don't mean they shouldn't...

But, it's the year of 2009, and wearing burqas will only bring out people's curiosities to them! Especially when you're living in a non-Islamic country!

It's like... you're wearing a bright red outfit while 10 000 people around you, wear white. :D

I think, Just wear a hijab (or scarf :D), it's gonna be okay.

"Face-covering Islamic clothing has become a controversial political issue in Western Europe, and some intellectuals and political groups advocate prohibition, for various reasons.

Islamic dress that covers the face of women has caused controversy in the United Kingdom (see main article at United Kingdom debate over veils). A senior member of the government, Jack Straw, asked Muslim women from his constituency to remove any veils covering their faces during face-to-face meetings with him. He explained to the media that this was a request, not a demand, and that he made sure that a woman staffer remained in the room during the meeting. A media furore followed. Some Muslim groups said that they understood his concerns, but others rejected them as prejudicial.[2]

In France wearing the burqua has been banned in public schools since 2004, as the result of a law that prohibits students to wear any clearly visible religious symbols.

On 22 June 2009, the president of France, Nicholas Sarkozy said that burqas are "not welcome" in France, commenting that "In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity,"[3]. The French National Assembly has appointed 32 lawmakers from right and left-wing parties on a six-month fact-finding mission to look at ways of restricting its use[4]. "

Yes - that's the sensible view.;)

So you have the right to tell people how to dress? What gives you that right. Should I have the right mark to say you can only wear hot pink? Its easy to be that way when you're trying to control someone else BUT if it was an issue important to you and someone wanted to force you against your will, I'm sure you'd cry fowl and be a hypocrite.

People who ask to ban things are hypocrites because if someone tried to ban something they loved they'd throw a fit.

People who want to control others lives are pathetic excuses for humans. By doing so you assume you're above them and have some authority to control their lives based upon your point of view.

Nope. You're completely missing the point. Burkhas are socially unacceptable in the western world, they serve no practical purpose whatsoever and they can be used to hide people's identities.

Therefore they should be banned, and if you read the reports on the first page, you'll see the vast majority of moderate Muslims support the idea too.

:smug:

And if you truly believe people should have total freedom to wear what they want, then it's clear you would also have no objection to people walking around in Nazi uniforms, and Ku Klux Klan hoods, or even completely naked.........................

"They were traditionally the garments of desert tribesmen to protect themselves against sandstorms but there is no practical reason for anyone to wear one in England.”

How are they socially unacceptable? Does it affect you in any way if someone chooses to wear a burkha?

You criticise the fact that the law in some Islamic countries forces people to dress in a certain way yet you suggest that Western countries should do the same.

Many people find it shocking and threatening.

There are many reasons for banning it, which are all explained in the articles.

I find this statement more shocking than the burkhas. :P

How could you say it is threatening? It's just an outfit, tell me how it can threaten you.
