Superstition.

Do you have any? which one?

you have a reason for it or you can't explain it yourself?

what's the most common one in your country?

I don't have the usual superstitions, just those two:

*I dislike any number that is multiple of number 3 (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18...).

I can't explain it myself why, i've never heard that anybody have the same.

and to me any date that is like that:

5/5/5 or 24/2/2004 is a day to be cautelous, as i find it have some kind of "magic" in it, both good or bad.

about the first one:

I talked about it to my dad today...

i told him my reason would be cause:

666 is meant to be the number of the beast, and i kinda don't like it, so as is number 6 (multiple of 3) is repeated 3 times, so i ended disliking it.

my dad said something about kabala and number meanings... he says he thinks:

number 3: represents perfection, and family.

number 6: primary humanity

number 9: humanity evolved.

but i don't have the most common superstitions in my country which are:

*fear to wear anything yellow

*don't walk near a stair

*don't walk if there's a black cat near

*you'll be in disgrace for 7 years if you broke a mirror.

Only Superstition is indeed vary good.

I don't beleive in any sort of belief in the supernatural or anything, but I do have this weird mild OCD where I compulisvely straighten things so they're parallel to each other and stuff. But that's not a superstition. Like, at all.

i agree with you nick.

anyways can you both tell me about the most common superstitions in your countries?

some superstitions vary from country to country, as for instance the fear to number 13.

here is asociated to be a bad day if is tuesday 13th, where in english culture is a bad sign if is friday 13th.

i'm curious about those variations. :)

uh double post when quoting 13, surely is a devilish number

anyways why do you say is a devilish number?

UH OH :stunned:

Idk, I just felt like making fun of religion. I really donno if it's devililsh or not. I don't really think it is.

The number of the beast was s'posed to be 668 or something anyway; it was just a clerical error, somebody miscopied it.

Hey, I made a pun by accident! Cuz, like, it was a clerical error.... made by clerics. Get it?

what clerical error are you refering to/talking about?

Originally the year the world was supposed to end was 668 or something, but the monk the person was dictating this to wrote down the wrong number and wrote 666 instead; or so the story goes. :nice:

edit: Ah wait, no, it was originally 616, I believe; my bad.

It's Friday 13th here too. Also we have those about the black cat and the mirror, and other ones that I can't remember right now. But I don't believe in any.

curious that about 13th.

general question:

so even if you don't believe in the standard superstitions, do you have any superstition yourself, as do an exam with some colour in particular or some brand? or wear some clothes before a job interview as thinking it will give you luck?.

*fear to wear anything yellow

i wear a lot of yellow :P

i hate unpair numbers...

the yellow thing really is for Molière, i could understand it to be a thing that actors or artists do, but generally anybody? is a bit weird imo.

interesting another one that dislike some numbers, any reason for that? :)
