I thought this was resolved, wtf?!?!?????

He had a concert in downtown Detroit last year, I was seriously considering going to it just to shout "eff you". :|

me too!

hes coming to a theater near me soon or has or...something.

I wish I had a job working there so I could pull a Joan Jett and pee on his fucking guitar.

you should take the :jonny: 'Jonny's my guitar hero' :jonny: banner!
you should take the :jonny: 'Jonny's my guitar hero' :jonny: banner!

I should XD

Satriani = :lol:

His guitar work is impressive but that's all it is. He can't write a tune to save himself though so that's why he went bankrupt and wanted some money so he went after the world's biggest selling band's biggest selling single even though if it was to be plagiarised it was done so unintentionally from a Cat Stevens song. And besides this Coldplay are far too advanced and sensible to listen to non sensicle guitar playing by some rent boy!

In an exclusive interview with Musicradar.com, Satriani recounted the moment he heard Coldplay’s performance.

“I felt like a dagger went right through my heart. It hurt so much … I spent so long writing the song, thinking about it, loving it, nursing it … and then somebody comes along and plays the exact same song and calls it their own,” Satriani said.

:cry::bigcry::bigcry::whatever::whatever::whatever: Waaa waaa waaa:dozey:

Haha if that's how he felt I wonder how los enanitos verdes felt when that guy claimed to be the original writer of that song. He was the one that copied but maybe he didn't think los enanitos verdes were that popular and he could get away with it. Los enanitos verdes are :cool:

Most of the posters in this thread are complete and utter morons. First off, why would you want Coldplay to have taken this to court? There's a reason settling is the better option, you are an idiot if you want this dragged out in a court case that will just end up making all sides look bad.

Second, stop saying retarded things about Satch. He's not using money to buy drugs, and contrary to popular belief, he didn't just think up this law suit to be a big meanie-head to Coldplay. He truly believed he had a case, and he's entitled to that. Anyone who lowers themselves to personal insults is worse than he is.

And for all you idiots who assume he has no fans, no career, and no musical talent, I severely pity you.

Glad to see this post. Even if it took me several months to find this thread and read it. I do not think CP stole from Satriani, but I also grew up admiring Satch and his insane talent. Tired of reading how he's the most awful drug abusing pathetic musician. The guy is a phenom. I highly doubt the suit affected the CP fanbase. The CP "hatrers" were there long before and will still remain.

I don't think that coldplay take anything from him. I'm pretty sure of this.

And i think that Satriani is an amazing guitar player. Incredibly talented.

this a million times over.

Q&A: Joe Satriani Can't Talk About His Case Against Coldplay. But He'll Glady Talk Being Left Off Rolling Stone's List of Top 100 Guitarists...[/size][/b]

Can you imagine what his reaction would be if the name Jonny Buckland had showed up on that list? He would have gone apeshit and a half.

No offence to the Satch but if 'If I Could Fly' is a love letter to his wife then their sex life must be as vibrant and creative as an evening watching paint dry followed by watching the grass grow.

Ugh, the fanboyism/fangirlism in this thread disappoints me. Now personally I don't believe that Coldplay stole the VLV from Satriani, but is it really necessary to go throwing out insults and making blind assumptions about him? That's just childish and sets a pretty bad example for Coldplay fans.

setting an example? -__-

sure the insults arent neccisary, but theyre fun.

and what does it matter? nothing comes of it does it?

This is old news. But here's my two cents:

If satriani had any integrity as an artist, he wouldn't have settled out of court, he'd follow through with the lawsuit, finally proving what we all had suspected: he's a jealous money sucking vampire.

Wait dont insult him like that yo, you're setting a bad example for all the other coldplay fans who follow the examples of strangers over the internet on a bands fan forum

OH NOES.

No offence to the Satch but if 'If I Could Fly' is a love letter to his wife then their sex life must be as vibrant and creative as an evening watching paint dry followed by watching the grass grow.

Because that's really not offensive.

So, if I understand well, Coldplay maybe have been inspired by Satriani, who maybe stole a melody from Los Enanitos Verdes, who maybe were inspired by Cat Stevens.

We can't know who stole/were inspired by who exactly. But that's not the point. The point is that reuse of melodies can make really great songs. That should be allowed, as you're allowed to use physics formulas discovered by other scientists to make science progress.

About Coldplay, if they were really inspired by Satriani, Los Enanitos Verdes or even Cat Stevens, then that's a great reuse : the melody is used in a completely different way, and is arranged to fit in the song. Coldplay obviously worked on it, more than if you compare Los Enanitos and Satriani.

(Btw, sorry if I made mistakes, English is not my mother tongue.)
