I hope this means new Phoenix album. If they tour aus for a 3rd time with Wolfgang it would be rather sad.

Just thought I would give you guys a heads up and say that the new frequency poster magazine is out. Some full size posters of Muse, Birds of Tokyo, Florence and the Machine and Vampire Weekend + smaller ones of: basement birds, Midnight juggernauts, foals, tegan and sarah, art vs science, mia, Sia, lisa mitchell, the jezabels, ratatat, grizzly bear, crystal castles, little red, pendulum, washington, silversun pickups, goldfrapp, tame impala, the drums, klaxons, band of horses, laura marling, arcade fire, cut copy and children collide so there is something in there for everyone i would hope.

A question however for anyone who got the last issue: If you got the temper trap/the killers poster are you using and if not, could someone posibbly send it to me? See, I tried to get mine laminated but they stuffed it up and now the whole poster is wrecked and the older magazine isnt on sale anymore and i tried to backorder it online but it doesnt seem to be anywhere so if anyone could possibly do that, it would be incredible.

HELL YES!! Standing tix for my bro and myself, decent-ish seats for my parents. WOO!

Had a huge weekend, hence the reason I haven't been on earlier to say that :P

Valley Fiesta was good! Last Dinosaurs were awesome, and Jinja Safari get better evey time I see them.

I have the new one, very annoyed that they put Foals and Arcade Fire on the same poster!!!

my Killers/TT poster is on my wall, but it has a big rip in it anyway :(

^They do have some great posters though. I'm surprised no one had thought of this before now. Oh, and does anyone have a link for little red's new album, i cant find it anywhere/

I'm a big fan of Oz music. Silverchair is my most favorite Oz band. Daniel Johns is pure sex.

^^

have you seen them live in the last few years? daneil johns has gone from being one of the most awesome frontmen in australia to being one of the most arrogant and egotistical. it's a shame cos their music is still very very good.

Yep I got what you mean. He's been like that since the Live from the Faraway Stables DVD if you've seen it. I might sound biased, but I reckon he has the right to be arrogant and a dick cos he is simply... Daniel Johns, he is just brilliant.

^^

i'll admit that he is brilliant but he would be respectable if he behaved on and off stage with more class and professionalism.

I think that an artist, any artist, can be as arrogant as he/she likes but off stage there's really no need.

On a completely unrelated topic, THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME!

Their new one "Coming Around" is even better imo, though I can't find a video :(

Edit: haha, the forum won't let me put 'wrist-watch' in one word or it gets asteriked :P

hahaha. they should make an exception for the aus music thread cos most aussies dont even know what that word means.

hungry kids of hungary for me have become lost in the sea of young indie bands saturating the scene at the moment. but i enjoy their sound.

Fair enough. These guys are a bit of a standout for me though, I really love the new song.

Could you please elaborate on his off stage behaviours? He is quite big here (I'm from Oz), and he is still respected as he always was.

well i've watched a lot of live footage of the band from their young modern tour and he just looked like he was going through the motions and trying to be a pompous rock star. completely different to what he was like through the 90s.

off stage he went through permanently-drunk-cos-my-wife-left-me phase. and it was this showing at the APRA's that really got on my nerves.

nevertheless i do love all 5 silverchair albums. although young modern i listened to death so i try to stay from that nowadays. im curious to hear where they take their music next.

im not sure about the rest of you. but personally ive never really felt attached to any aussie bands the same i feel about radiohead, pearl jam, coldplay, the white stripes and arcade fire. the closest for me would be The Panics but i simply enjoy their music, there isnt anything emotional there. i really felt something with wolfmother when they first broke through but we all know what happened there.

do any of you have an aussie band you really really connect with? at this point i most certainly dont.

before i forget. im loving the new children collide album. it is missing some great things that the debut possessed but at the same time theyve added a new facet to their music, they just sound much tighter and more confident in their music. in terms of pure musicianship and band chemistry they would have to be one of the best in the land.

Any ideas as to when The Middle East will release a new full length?

Ah yeah, I remember this. Well, you're right, he's over the line with this one. But I don't know, I still worship him, haha, like I told you, I'm a biased Silverchair fan.

And to answer your question, I'm Aussie, so pretty much I don't have a problem with connecting with Oz bands/artists.

well they canceled their spot at splendour in the grass to record the debut. a friend of a friend is a roadie for the band and he tells me that they're making the most of their american success at the moment so a LP is most likely early next year.

well im aussie too as is everyone else on this thread (except briggins who is canadian(what happens when an aussie is left in the fridge) and eddie who is kiwi (but aussie when he's cool)) but there just hasnt been an aussie band who has delivered album after album of quality music to the point where i can say yeah i wanna be passionate about that band.

i guess i'll stick to loving this scene as a whole.

Hmmm, that's an interesting point that I haven't really thought about before. Now that you mention it, there are a lot of new Aussie bands I really like, but they obviously can't compare with the likes of Arcade Fire, Killers, Radiohead etc just yet. Powderfinger are probably the closest I come to that, I think. Perhaps I'm a little un-aussie at my music heart, haha (though I don't like vegemite, so maybe there's more to it :P)

EDIT: WAIT no, I forgot, The Temper Trap! They are brilliant imo, right up there with some of my favourite bands. I know they're based in the UK now but they're still Aussie! So yes, there is an aussie band I can connect with!

Ah, my bad, wasn't aware that you're Oz too. Well, to tell you the truth, I don't think I'd put any Oz band on my top 5 bands list, well maybe Silverchair could squeeze in there.

I really connect with Angus & Julia Stone. I think their records are just fantastic.

i dont think i/we properly welcomed you to our thread. so hello and welcome :D

if you dont mind could we get a quick run down on you. which city are you from? how old are you? who are your favourite bands? who are your favourite aussie bands? who have you seen live?

have you heard many 2010 albums? cos we're really looking to have more people on our panel/team to choose this thread favourite aussie album of the year. at the moment i think theres 7 of us, but imo 8 would be an ideal number.

im sure we'll learn lots more about you over the coming months. :D
