i think i was on the verge of having something profound to say about this particular date, but i don't quite have it yet (i do have a nice rant about how the bush administration has done everything wrong since then, but i'll save that one. at any rate, i guess i thought i couldn't let today go by without at least ONE mention of what happened. as much as any of us hate to relive it, especially after all the initial overexposure, you have to admit the date looms large even now.

I don't want to sound disgusting or anything, but I haven't got much to say... I'm used to these kind of stuff as you know, so what I have to say I've pretty much said thousands of times so far :(

 

I really, really hope things will only be better. The world has turned into such a mess I feel like running away into a different reality.

I was in Florida when it happened, I remember waking up to watch Regis and Kelly, and I saw the 1st tower get hit, being half asleep I thought I was watching a movie preview or something, then as I watched i realised it was real, then the second plane went in, and I really woke up....then it just progressed....my ex girlfriend who I was with at the time has a sister, who's husband is in the army, he was in the pentagon when it was hit, luckily he was ok, but for those few hours after, when there were no communications except the pictures we saw, it was a nightmare. i remember the feeling of utter uselessness, just sitting there, watching people jump hundreds of stories to the ground rather than burn alive, and that has never left me. My infant school teacher's sister was in tower one, they never found a body, I knew her, they are family friends. She was only in New York for two days on a business trip. Everyone was affected that day, every race, colour, creed. it wasn't just a New York thing, it wasn't just a US thing, it was an attack against humanity itself. I could've flown today to see Jessy, but I defered back a day and am flying tomorrow, I just didn't feel safe flying today, I wonder how many did. It's sad something like that has had a huge effect on everyone.

 

Anyway that's my memories and views on 11/9/03 (UK date) Hope I haven't brought anyone down too much.

i cant believe it...i was a naive 6th grader in first pd. and i had no idea what thw wtc was. than my teachers all started whispering (than you knew something was wrong) and than came break and everyone was whispering about how they had fallen. it never did hit because i was so young but now i just look at documentaries and stuff of the sort. it also hit close to heart when i actually went to nyc and saw ground zero. my life where a state of awkdness hit nyc is such a wonderfuk place. its horrible

i agree with former mayor rudy when he says " it was the worst day of my life and in another way the best" because that day was horrible. horrible cant describe it. yet it was a great day . because america got so close . we actually used that title "united states" everything does happen for a reason. even if you hate to hear that especially related to this title. something good did come out of it. patriotism. even tho i sound hypocritical because i say sometimes how patriotic stuff isnt "me" i do love the fact that ppl really showed their true love for america that day.

i remember that day very clearly. i was in school in grade 6 and my teacher went out of the room when another teacher came in and took her outside. i remeber her soming in looking pale and extreamly sad. then she told us the news and we were all silent sitting there shocked. for my sister mindy, her teacher came in and he was on the verge of crying. i felt so bad for him. one of his friends that he hasn't seen for a while was in one of the buildings and he died. it was so sad because he had told us that his friend was planning on visiting him a few weeks after the sad event happened. i remember standing on the second story of our school looking down into the big window showing the library where all the teachers had gathered watching tv. it was so shocking to see it. knowing that it was real and not some movie. then it was on tv everyday for what seemed like forever. :(

 

today in school we had a moment of silence to remember.

i cannot believe that two years has gone by. i guess because everyone vividly remember what they were doing that day which is why it feels as if it was a few weeks ago.

 

i was at school going to second period and my friend who had just come from home told me what happened and she saw it on tv and i didn't believe her. then more people started talking about what they had heard. and in the middle of the class another teacher started running down the hall screaming 'the pentagon is on fire' that scared the shit out of me, and after that i grabbed my friends and we went to her house and watched the news. we were all in a complete state of shock. my friends father was flying home from pennsylvania that day so she was very worried about him.

 

after 9/11 i became obssessed with watching the news. for two weeks straight i'd stay home and watch cnn. i wanted to learn all of the details of what went on. to this day if there is something on tv about it i try and watch it.

wow..two years already. When it happened I was in my second week of just starting highschool and I was sitting in my gym class with all the rest of the girls in my class and we were just sitting in a circle trying to go over what had happened and people were running down the halls screaming and crying, and I really felt that at that moment, the whole world was going to die. I guess that'll always stick with me..

Personally I really don't think this would have happend if Clinton would have been in control he would have at least asked why. ??? has some done such a horrible thing.

 

The reason why I think this horrible day happend was because when bush took control of the states he brought people in to his adminsration that was in the Game 10 years ago when his dad was in control the world was a completly different place then. These peoples thinking is old school powell rumsfeld and co.

 

When clinton was in charge ( now this could have been the media sexxing it up) But it seemed that he made more of a effort on his foreign policys than any other US president that I have ever known the world did seem it was shaping up to a new order. But as soon as bush came in it was destend for disaster. his people skills are non existant he does not understand how other people live their customs he just seems to think in a 1900's Klu klux klan thinking from a southern state of america. Thank fuck he would only have 2 terms.

 

Also bush is responsable for the worlds ecomany fucking up all those years when clinton was in control he slowly built America ecomany and this was having a positive effect on others.

Hello everyone.

Hey I'm trying to write in normal this time,with no smilies and so on.

 

I still can't believe what happened there. I still know that it was on a Tuesday. I had one of my Kung Fu lessons at my local Kung Fu school. I changed my clothes for the training and then sat down at our bar.

It has been just 15 minutes to the training. We have radio turned on very loud always,so this one day,too. After some time,the first news headlines reached us. There it was said,that POSSIBLY a SMALL plane crashed one of the towers. So nobody didn't really know what had happened in NYC. Everything came over and over. After some more minutes it was already the speech about the second plane. I already began thinking of it...

 

After our training was end, my brother picked me up. There he said that you wouldn't believe what I'm going to tell you now.THERE I KNEW THAT SOMETHING MORE HAD HAPPENED THAN "JUST" A SMALL PLANE. HE told me that two planes had hit the World Trade Center In New York and another one the Pentagon in Washington.THERE I KNEW THAT IT WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK.

 

I WAS DAMN FUCKING SHOCKED WHEN I SAW THE PICTURES ON TV. I WAS ALWAYS THINKING: THAT CAN'T BE REAL THAT CAN'T BE REAL.

 

MY head just didn't know how to work with these pictures. I just thought why on earth? WHY? how can somebody hit the WTC in that way? HOW?

 

I still can't believe it and i also think that it is still like yesterday.

i just think it's weird because everything seems to have changed since then, but at the same time nothing's changed at all. i was at work yesterday on the anniversary, and a coworker said to me at about 9 am, "you know where i was two years ago right now when all that shit started happening? doing the same thing i'm doing right now, right over there." but at the same time, hardly anybody feels the same about their position in the world. for the billions of people in the world who didn't lose a loved one in the attacks or in a war and the billions who aren't living in a country that's being torn to pieces by war as a result of the attacks, it's all about state of mind. there really hasn't been any sharp rise in terrorism anywhere in the world (except for israel, but that's unrelated), but none of us feel safe. and it's a damn shame that our politicians here in the US are trying to play off of that fear and paranoia to secure votes in elections.

 

september 11, 2001 ushered in an era of fear and distrust, and hopefully we can come out of that era and realize that $1 billion per week would be much better spent fixing our own problems here at home instead of creating new problems for people overseas, endangering their lives and our troops' lives, and creating even more hatred of america.

 

thus concludes my long-winded, boring speech, spoken with a typical american self-centeredness. :P

Although that is quite valid, the terrorists had been planning this event before Bush was elected. They had started planning this while Clinton was in power. It took years for them to plan that event, don't think that it took them a couple weeks to do it. Bush was elected in 2000 and the event happened in 2001, it took them a few years from the idea and planning out exactly what they would do, to the terrorists taking flight lessons and all the rest. So I disagree with the statement that it wouldn't have happened if Clinton was still in power, on the contrary if another politician was in power during the Clinton years this event might never have happened.

My memories of that day are very strange and kinda contrary to how most people remember it. It's because something strange and unexpected and wonderful happened to me because of my actions that day that I remember it more with joy than with sadness. But that's not because I don't care about all those ppl - it was a terrible thing that was done there, in NY. But my own, personal memories are of something miraculous that happened to me. Don't ask me to tell. It's all my own.
