November 13, 200916 yr Frédéric Chopin wrote almost always for piano, and yet his music is absolutely amazing. I read that wrong :wreck: I agree with Tnspieler (I forgot your real name)
November 14, 200916 yr Well, some people could argue that because of Chopin's exclusive writing for the piano, his music is pretty much the same. I'm not saying the pieces themselves are different, but his music in general is. ... You know what, forget I said anything. I give up.
November 14, 200916 yr That's right - A piano can simulate a tambourine, simply by placing castinettes on the pedals. And a harp, if one opens it up and plucks the strings! Plus, adding a gong to the lowest note's corresponding key (it's rarely used anyhow) really offers a unique opportunity to enhance the Piano's instrument range, and "bang a gong" whenever one feels like it.:PThat is the weirdest example I've ever heard. How does a piano correlate with music sounding the same? The capabilities of any instrument are infinite. Most great bands almost always write music for guitar, would we presume that they all sound the same? Its not the instrument that differentiates an artist, but the the type of music they compose for it. I think everyone, especially Eddie, knows that.
November 14, 200916 yr OK, I get it. I don't need multiple explanations as to why I'm wrong. :annoyed: I just fail to explain myself. Honestly, I don't even know why I try. People either don't get what I'm saying or talk to me in a derogatory manner because they disagree with me or think I'm stupid. [/rant]
November 14, 200916 yr lol its okay, I just felt obligated to throw in my two cents which accidentally richochetted off the lampshade, hitting the ceiling and causing a torrent of rain water to spill in right on top of you.
November 14, 200916 yr ^^ or as we say where i come from................the shit hit the fan and now its all over the place. :laugh3:
November 14, 200916 yr True, true. I knew what I meant to say; I just chose a REALLY bad example to corroborate it. :freak: :P
November 14, 200916 yr I wouldn't be surprised if watd was Thom Yorke in disguise. And Tarkovsky - oh so you know Jonny Buckland personally to know that he ain't as good as Greenwood! Well as far as I'm concerned, Buckland has stated his position in the band and that is to create atmpospherics with his guitar. And do you know what.... know one does atmosphere better than Coldplay, and without Buckland, they'd be stripped of all that BEAUTIFUL atmposphere he creates with his guitar. Why bother with non sensicle riffs when you can make a band? lolwat? Coldplay are just simple guitar songs.

November 14, 200916 yr ricardo i apologise for doubting the credibility of this thread at the start. this has turned into a fruitful discussion of the finer points of modern music. and has given my good friend howyousawtheworld the chance to voice his unbiased well informed opinion on radiohead. if only he did that more often, the world would be a better place.
November 14, 200916 yr Fact: Jonny Greenwood is a more versatile musician than Jonny Buckland. This isn't even a matter of opinion. Jonny has composed and performed multiple soundtracks. He plays the guitar, he plays the piano, he plays the Ondes Martenot....etc.

I think perhaps it was that chris martin used to keep saying that he was the best guitarist in the world or something and that kinda turned me off.
November 14, 200916 yr Fact: Jonny Greenwood wears his mom's army socks.:P Opinion shminions, soundtracks are just the things that go with the movies. Oh yea, let's see him play some cool riffs from the Scorpions then!:biker::bandana::guitarist:

November 14, 200916 yr And does Jonny Buckland do this? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX7WaFn2Zf8]YouTube- Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead is The Gr8est[/ame]
November 14, 200916 yr [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSNGOpyWWOs]YouTube- Jonny Greenwood - Future markets[/ame]
November 14, 200916 yr Author That was n't my intention actually... I guess I should have added more random stuff I WISH IT WAS THE '60s I WISH I COULD BE HAPPY I WISH I WISH I WISH THAT SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN one of the worst radiohead lyrics ever....
November 14, 200916 yr HA! Why on earth are we comparing Jonny Greenwood to Jonny Buckland? Buckland has nothing on Jonny Greenwood. I'd like to see him do an awesome solo instead of playing the same old boring stuff. Also to contribute to those videos showing off Jonny Greenwood's amazingness... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyKCwDJ7ZUc]YouTube- Jonny Greenwood Max/MSP patch[/ame] I'd like the see Buckland pull that off.
November 14, 200916 yr all of you admiring and praising jonny buckland's ability on guitar. please please please for your own good do not say that in public! you'll be labelled a laughing stock. if we're going to compare radiohead and coldplay member by member. the only fair match is thom v chris. and my vote would go to chris but only marginally.

I'm pretty Buckland actually could do that, considering Greenwood is just blindly thrashing at the guitar.
November 14, 200916 yr And does Jonny Buckland do this? I'm not saying one is better than the other because I don't know enough about guitar to say, but I don't get why people think it's so "badass" when guitar players treat their guitars like lassos and clubs. He looks stupid. And that's a waste of a fine instrument. Just my opinion, though. It's the instrumentalist in me talking. I'd never walk onstage, play my horn, and then start throwing it up in the air like a moron to impress people.

I don't find smashing guitars that great either (except for Pete Townsend <3)
