They're just guitars.

nothing ever stays safe and same

even my grandpas comfy leather chair is gone. his living room layout is different

it will never look the same as the night before i saw coldplay in Mountain View

..im spending christmas with strangers.....

everythings changing and I dont feel the same!

It's called life... you know? that's the way things are supposed to be, everything is constantly changing all the time.

What she's trying to say, is, "Calm the fuck down."

Good.

 k now im officially ok with it

can you delete a thread?

I don't like this auction either, honestly. And no, not just because I can't get anything.

It's not fair that they have to sell everything so important to them.

Honestly, if I did win Chris's first guitar, I'd ship it back to him.

It's stupid.

Haha)

:dozey:

First I don't like the dealings with people here - that's not nice, especially around Christmas Time you should not be that piqued by a user who is just posting her opinion.

Back to the topic:

Memories are in your head and do not lay in objects but I know what you mean about the sentimental value of these things.

I don't think that Coldplay will sell all of their memories in this auction - for example they maybe have photobooks and videos that they will not sell for sure. And maybe there are lots of other things they will keep for themselves - we just do not know about it. I think they know what they're doing - sometimes you just have to get rid of some things just to be able to begin a new phase in your life. Plus it's for charity and it's the perfect timing for a auction now that they're are one of the greatest bands in the world because a lot of people are interested and will spend a lot of money in the auction.

On the other hand I agree with you - I also miss the "old Coldplay" although I just have been a fan for one and half year now. Their music was a bit more soulfull in my opinion - but I hope Coldplay will find their way back to the right track in the future.

Merry Christmas to everybody!

i couldnt have said it better myself... maybe if i could a few other users wouldnt have gone all douchezilla on me

whatevs ya know?

merry christmas to you too

and happy new decade :)

one day you look at your first guitar in the light and think, man that's a bag of shite

I looked at my first guitar in the shop and thought "that's a shitty guitar"

Alas my father bought it anyway.

On topic, if they WANT to sell their instruments and whatnot, they can, it's their stuff not yours/ours/the collective's/whatever.

Changes are weird indeed. But they are necessary. Look at it this way - that's who they are now. Wouldn't it be lame to say the least if they did the music they didn't feel like making, write about stuff they don't feel, that they left in a chapter earlier? People change, emotions grow... you can't forever embrace the same philosophy in life... Get what I am saying?

I love Parachutes and ROBTTH, but I don't want them to make those albums all over again.

Change is good as Strawberry Swinger just said

good or bad, change is inevitable. they can't make music for people only - there will always someone who doesn't like what they are doing. they have to stay true to themselves - art requires that. staying true to who you are and what you feel.

"everythings changing and I dont feel the same!" - reference to keans everybody's changing maybe?

I think what they are doing is great, it would of been like seeing their children go off to university (difficult) but they have done the right thing. Move on and get ready for a new era

it took 5 pages for someone to get that reference!

lol thanks :)

i got the reference just so you know.

i understand some people had some fun at the post-starter's expense - mostly, i assume, for the drama of it - i don't think it's that big of a deal. i mean, people here are all sort of amiable together. i don't think anyone meant anything bad.

that said, you just have to look at the returns from the auction. they made SOO SOO MUCH money for charity. i don't really know the charity, so i'm not pretending to be some uppity person. i just know that they've done a good thing. if they've lost something special, they've helped others gain much more.

that's truly the christmas spirit.

The thing is, it's obviously Brian Eno's idea. Which is to forget about the past and do something new.

I personally don't think it had anything to do with the charity in the first place.
