I got some unbelievably soft, pink, ankle socks.

From your aunt?:P

Nope, I got a towel and star-shaped soap last year.

It's nice that people still get you something for Christmas to fair. They really don't know me at all.

Only socks?

No, I was just descibing the socks I got.

Better socks than say a gift-set of shower-gel & deodorant

God I hate that so much.

My mom always gives me tons of socks! I think I got about 8 pairs this year :laugh3:

There was green, black, cream, grey, grey with blue stripes and pink toes, blue, another grey, and...I forget what else :D

Well that's just another example of a pointless gift IMO.:dozey:

Hopefully, I had nicer gifts. :inquisitive:

You haven't had them yet?

Christmas is the only time I get socks, so they are a good thing to get.

Not really pointless though isn't it Mark, as I will use the shower-gel/deodorant over the year.

A pointless gift is something which serves no meaningful function

Well completely unimaginative and "impersonal" then. I've got all the socks and shower-gel I could ever need and am more than capable of getting that sort of stuff any day of the week.;)

At least the scarf I got was something I would never have got around to buying, unlike socks and shower-gel.

but what if my mum said she wanted shower-gel... ? :uhoh: ;D

A gift card to a shop you never visit is something that is completely unimaginative :P

How is s scarf any less readily available than some socks?

My grandma gave me a gift card for Wendy's. :blank:

Well, she gave me a lot of other gifts besides that, that was just one thing. :P

why not? a scarf is cheap and you can buy it everywhere, even here and it's summer.

as someone else said, it's the thought that counts, specially if is someone you don't see that often so they don't know if you'll like a certain music cd or a shirt.
