I approve of that statement.

Track 1: catchy, like the music a lot, especially towards the end, but not so much the vocals.

Track 2: too ethereal, not interesting enough for my tastes.

Track 3: voice is familiar, might just be the accent though. What is up with the echoes though? Too 80’s for me. Glasvegas-like. This would’ve been better had it been faster.

Track 4: this one’s good! I have a feeling this might be Living Things, I saw them back in ’06 at a festival. I really dig the chorus, quite shoutalongable, and the synths are a welcome addition.

Track 5: voice sounds like AFI, I don’t know the song though. It’s okay, but I’m not smitten or anything.

Track 6: Just another up tempo indie rocker. I don’t have much of an opinion on this.

Track 7: Good voice, nicely dramatic intro.

Track 8: this is Modest Mouse, but I haven’t heard anything newer by them. I quite like the trumpets and strings as an extra to the song. This cheers me up!

Track 9: about half a year after I heard their album Dutch radio stations decided this should be a gigantic hit: Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis. Dudududu, doodoodoo, etcetera. Reminds me of standing at Pinkpop Festival and shouting along with a beer in my hand. Not much depth to the music but good lyrics and a killer bar brawl melody.

Track 10: isn’t this the song with those weird half-naked dudes? Iglu & Hartly or something? Again, singable, I fancy this as long as I don’t have to see the dudes and ignore the lyrics. I wonder if they’ve ever made any other music. You know, where they’re not half naked. And where someone has told the singer not to sing through his nose so much. In THIS CITYYYY.

Track 11: Mika? Yes. Mika. Happy, but after a while his tone can get somewhat annoying.

Track 12: this would have been bordering on whiny even without the auto-tuned, high-pitched overdubbed vocals. This is just not my thing. Sappy, badly rhyming lyrics, slow, boring piano tune. Must be James Blunt or that dude who did a song with Nelly Furtado. I don’t know, this just isn’t it, sorry!

Track 13: Now this I like, original melody, Bright Eyes-esque lyrics, a pleasant guitar sound and the little piano riff in between tickles my fancy! I could listen to this over and over again.

Track 14: Woo for the little 8-bit intro! The rest of the song is pleasant enough, a little emo/pop standard though.

Track 15: I have a feeling I know this band or at least their garage rock-ish sound. There’s a little Libertines in the guitars which I quite dig.

Track 16: 35 seconds of oh ey oh oh? Honestly. But the semi-spoken word vocals are rather nice and the lyrics are interesting enough.

Track 17: I knew this one in 5 seconds flat, Franz Ferdinand’s Ulysses. Excellent choice, definitely my favorite off the album!

Track 18: I love the guitar intro and the drum work. This would be the better side of emo! I’m very curious which band this is.

Track 19: I can’t believe whoever made this tape knows ZOX! They are a brilliant violin-laced ska/pop punk band from the U.S. I used be really into these guys, sadly they’ve only ever had one gig in my country. At which was the only one to sing along to every song! I love this song.

@ whoever made this: There are a couple of gems in there, one or two songs I just plain dislike but most of it just misses the target of my music taste. If I am a bit harsh in some places, it’s just how I feel about the music! It's definitely nothing against you personally or your taste, the tape was definitely well-made and the music fitted together. Thanks for introducing me to some new stuff!

I made this :D

I can't believe you actually got most of the guesses right :P

I originally had 20 songs, somehow the tarcklisting got all messed up...

1. Countdown - Jupiter One

2. The Gospel of Goro Adachi - The Boxer Rebellion

3. Dominos - The Big Pink

4. Oxygen - Living Things

5. Veronica Sawyer Smokes - AFI

6. A Choppy Yet Sincere Apology - Riverboat Gamblers

7. Happiness is Overrated - The Airborne Toxic Event

8. Dashboard - Modest Mouse

9. Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis

10. In This City - Iglu & Hartly

11. Good Gone Girl - Mika

12. She Came Home For Christmas - Mew

13. Hallie and Henry - Say Hi

14. Racing Lights - Stars of Track and Field

15. I'm Always Right - The Pigeon Detectives

16. Now We Can See - The Thermals

17. Ulysses - Franz Ferdinand

18. This Photograph is Proof - Taking Back Sunday

19. Little More Time - Zox

Now, my review...

Track 1: Really catchy piano/synth part, but got a little boring after a while. Sounds like something from the 60's or 70's in my opinion.

Track 2: Now this one was okay, it was very slow and relaxing. I liked the organ part in it, but that's pretty much it. The vocalist sounds familiar, however, this was probably my least favorite off the mix.

Track 3: This one I recognized within two seconds... The Beatles! My friend plays this song all the time. Not exactly my taste, but its a likable song.

Track 4: YES!!! MGMT!!! Love them so much. Nice to hear something up tempo after the first three tracks. Electric Feel is probably my favorite song from them.

Track 5: Very nice song. Indie, with a catchy beat and guitar line. Interesting lyrics, the vocalist sounded like Death Cab for Cutie, but I could be wrong. Track 5 to my iTunes Library. Can't wait to find out the real artist.

Track 6: The intro to this song really drew me in! Couldn't really understand what the vocalist was saying, but another song with catchy drums and guitars. The tambourine in this song was a nice touch. Started soft, then got louder, then became soft again. I like songs like that. This could pass for an Oasis song, I think.

Track 7: At first, I thought the guitar sounded really familiar. Then the vocals sounded really familiar. I have heard this song before, but its driving me crazy that I can't figure out what it is. I have heard this in a movie before, and the fact I can't remember that either is driving me insane too.

Track 8: The first bluesy track on the mix. Not a big fan of female vocals, and this song didn't help change my mind. I did like that quiet little saxaphone riff though. It's probably a good song within it's field, just not really my taste.

Track 9: Great intro for this song, I really liked it. The vocals were slightly boring, but it didn't really detract that much from the song. The violin was nice, and it really got interesting when the drums kicked in. Good, but it's not that extraordinary.

Track 10: "Noisy birds, noisy birds..." Nice and catchy song, which is surprising for something that mellow. Jazzy, but towards the middle it becomes a rock song.

Track 11: I liked it at first, but as it went on it became increasingly repetitive. not much to say

Track 12: Catchy male/female vocals in this one! The guitar and lyrics kept things interesting. I actually started dancing a little when I listened to this. Waiting to see the artist behind this song too.

Track 13: Probably my favorite song off the mix. Catchy drum beat and guitar riff. The vocalist had a great voice and the lyrics were interesting. Excited to see the artist. Another song from this mix to my iPod.

Track 14: This was a calming and soothing instrumental, great second-to-last idea for a song.

Track 15: I seriously liked this song. Mellow, but had a great piano line with a slow drum beat. Interesting lyrics and vocals. I feel like I know this artist or have at least heard the song, but I don't know who or what song it is. Great way to end the mix.

In summary, there were about three or four songs I really didn't like because of my tastes, but there were also plenty I really enjoyed. I also liked how the maker of the mix orginized the tape. All in all, a nice mixtape that mixed many genres.

And now I see there's some Mew hate!

I love mixtape reviews. I already have a nice list of bands to check out :wacky:

I WANNA PARTICIPATE NEXT TIME :bigcry:

</3

edit: yeah, I was just thinking how long it's been

Hi SarahSchimidt!!! Glad you like my mix :D

Here the tracklist

So, here is my review:

1- :wideeyed: great start. Beautiful piano.

1- Prelude - Rachmaninov

I wanted something soft to open the mix. Glad you like it!

2- Geez I know this song! (just don’t remember the name) it’s a classic! Loved!

2- I want it all - Queen

:D I wanted something totally different and 'clashy' to contrast with the first one and I thought Queen (who is one of my fav band) who be good for that! Classic never gets old!

3- OMG! OMG! Mew!! :wacky: listen to it, you all. It awesome! :awesome:

3- Behind the draps - Mew

I HAD to put Mew in this mix since I discovered them through Apparatjik. I didn't to put an obvious track as 'comforting sound' or 'Am I wry?'...So I choose this one that I find beautiful and that capture well the 'Mew spirit'!

4- I don’t know why, but this song remember me of afternoons in the beach… so bright!

4- Failure - Operation Aloha

Don't be surprised to feel being on the beach cause this a song from collectiv project where musicians from differents bands (such james and Jesse from maroon 5) had been put on a island for a few weeks without..well nothing exept some rudimental instruments. The result is a accoustic album that smells sun, beach and peace! You can listen their album here: http://www.operationaloha.org/sounds.html

5- Little of hip-hop, interesting!

5- Glamourous - Fergie

I'm not really into Fergie but I love this song and I wanted sthg different to clash with the previous one ^^

6- Another bright one. Liked the beat and the soft voice of the singer. Kinda reminds me of Jason Mraz.

6- Parachute - Tahiti 80

This is actually a french band called Tahiti 80 ^^ They sing in english. It's a 'feel good' band (plus the guys are really sweet in real life!). Great live!

7- Wow! Country music! I´m not a big fan of it, but this one is funny to hear.

7- Long legged guitar pickin'man - John Cash&June Carter

I said earlier: classics never gets old. This is the great Jonny Cash and his lovely wife June Carter ^^ Love this song, you can sense their love and complicity in this.

8- This is the kind of song that I like to listen in my way to work. Gives you energy, has a great beat. That’s definitely one that I´ll listen a lot from now on.

8- Love long distance - Gossip

GOSSIP!! A great band lead by the great Beth Ditto! Awesomeness!

9- I feel so :cheesy: listening to this song! Oldie and romantic… :wacky: really liked it!

9- No other way - Paolo Nutini

It's sound old and sang by a 50 years old man but it's actually a 2009 track sang by a 23 years old young man! This man is one of my favorite singer/songwriter, I'm in love with his voice (yes, in love :P), so full of soul (not the music genre). If you like this one, listen to his two albums! Both have been n°1 in UK.

10- Owwww :wacky::wacky:! so calm and sweet and good to hear! And the guitar! :cheesy:  Lovely! I wish I could understand French, it seems like the lyrics are so damn good. My favorite so far.

10- Acacia - Julien Doré

Beautiful song from a great artist! In France, half of the population hates him and half loves him...I'm on the 2nd batch :D Love his voice and personnality (he's a weirdo on stage XD). Glad you like it so much! I put him also on the previous mixtape exchange and made a fan... (right Gail?!! :D) Seems like I made a second one!

11- Beautiful!:cheesy: I felt like dancing while listening to it.

11- Never forget you - The Noisettes

Love this song and it's 'old school' vibe. Glad you like it!

12- Is that old Kings of Leon?? WOW! LOL! Really good.

12- Red morning light - Kings of Leon

:D yes, it's our Followill brothers! I loooove them but I didn't want to put a song from 'Only by the night' (people know it too much) so I put the opening track from 'Youth & Young Manhood', their first album. I hesitated with 'King of rodeo' from 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' but I finally put this one ^^

13-

Powerful song. And the singer has such a stunning voice! This one is for cheering you up during a rainy day. Second favorite. No,wait. After listening to it over and over (5 times and counting), I´ve decided that this one is my real favorite. xD

13- Cosmic Love - Florence+The Machine

 I'm SO glad it's your favorite!!!! This track is from the great UK band Florence+The Machine, which is the recording name of Florence Welch and a collaboration of other artists who provide backing music for her voice. Their 'sound' is based on Florence amazing and powerful voice backed up with powerful drums and harp. But one of their most distinctiv characteristic is Florence's presence on stage: very intense and mesmerizing.

They are actually n°1 in UK with their debut albut (and nominated for 3 Brits). I made a thread about them in the music section: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65920

If you like this one, then you'll LOVE the album ;)

14- This one is sweet. and kinda sad... I cant decide how much I likeit. And I can totally see it in one of One Tree Hill´s season finales...

14- Morning theft - Jeff Buckley

This is an artist that HAD to be on my mix since he's my musical god and I thought this track (not well known) would be a great way to close the mix. I agree with Jeff's music can be...depressing  but that man was a genius and his voice is just haunting. Maybe you know his cover of 'Hallelujah' from Leonard Cohen? This cover had been used in various TV show.

Anyway, sorry for my long 'description' XD but I'm glad you like the mix!

So here the full tracklist without my babling:

Here the link to the mixtape where I left all the infos on (easier if anyone wants to DL it afterwards)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PNWAAI6H

Mixtape is on iPod. Having a listen tonight. Know what the first song is already (and it makes for a great opener), and I think there's another on there I'm familiar with too. :)

Will of course report back.

And now I see there's some Mew hate!

I love mixtape reviews. I already have a nice list of bands to check out :wacky:

I WANNA PARTICIPATE NEXT TIME :bigcry:

</3

edit: yeah, I was just thinking how long it's been

Why didn't you participate this time?

I'm not allowed to download music or anything like that </3

And there's no way I could even download or upload my music because it's on my mother's computer due to the fact that the computer only ever had 8GB of Memory and it's pretty much used up :P

You and I, my dear mysterious mixtaper, have extremely similar taste in music. I pretty much, with few exceptions, loved my tape.

Unless otherwise stated I loved the song.

Here we go...

1. I don't who this is but I desperately want to. Seriously, besides the songs I already knew from this tape this is definitely my favorite. The driving beat really kept me hooked despite it being a little long and overly drawn out. So many instruments too, how many people are playing in this song! Roam/Rome repeating throughout has been stuck in my head all day. Speaking of, love the lyrics especially "could he be waving from a tropical sunset" near the beginning. Really great.

2. Calming down a bit from the first song? His voice is similar to the first songs, but I don't think its the same person. I feel like I've heard this song in either a commercial or tv show before. Very dreamlike. Slightly muddled lyrics, and very lethargic instrumentation. I liked it.

3. No one says you can't get stoned John Mayer. Well at least I don't because I love your music. I absolutely loved his last album, Battlefields, probably more than his previous ones. Thanks for including this, despite it being played all over I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

4. And IIIIII will diiiiiiieeeee. Honestly, the first time I heard this one I kind of wanted to kill the singer. And I've definitely heard this one before, I think my brother is a fan. You really like longer songs don't you? The scream singing about wooden nails really didn't do anything for me. But then it paused and came back a few seconds later with nice and calm instrumentation for the last minute, which I really enjoyed. And redeemed the song enough for me to appreciate the guitar work throughout the rest of the song.

5. These bands all have very similar vocalists. Besides JM of course. Anyway, I really liked the piano counter-melody in the background of this at the beginning and nearing the end and the drumming was pretty amazing throughout. I've definitely heard the part where he gets all high pitched before, but Ive no idea where. Despite it being nearly seven minutes in length, it really didn't ever drag and I find myself going back to it. Its a definite keeper.

6. Skinny Love by Bon Iver = My my my, my my my, my my. I'm actually using this song and Blindsided for my lyrical dance songs for school. Whats funny is I really don't know many other songs by Bon Iver. Any recommendation on where to go next?

7. What is that instrument? Its like nature noises. Very interesting. A little busy sounding, but somehow it works. Stick up for yourself, son. The message didn't really seem to fit with the really cool sounding pseudo-Jamaican beats. And its somehow synth-y at the same time. Ah well, Im enjoying the head nodding, rocking back and forth feeling this song emits.

8. Kinda bland. I mean, the background music is very toned down and the lyrics seem to be the main player here, but I'm not sure if this singer can pull that off. Its very soothing in its own way, especially at the chorus. I feel like I need to listen to the lyrics a few more times to see if theres a story here that Im missing. Or some sort of key theme, but right now I've got nothing more than soothing nap time music. Not necessarily bad but not necessarily great either.

9. Fleet Foxes  Honestly, I had to go through my collection of songs to see which one it is, as I don't often listen to their EP even though Textbook Love is always stuck in my head. With that guitar part being as awesome as it is I really should go back shouldn't I? I looove their harmonies. Thanks for reminding me how good they are. So Long to the Headstrong.

10. RAH RAH AH AH AH ROMA ROMAMA GA GA OOH LA LA

Is it possible to not dance during this song? Whats funny is that I stopped the tape in the middle of the last song and drove my sister to her friends house with the both of us dancing and singing like fools to this song on the radio. love love love.

11. Duuuuuust in the wind. I have no idea who sings this but I most definitely know and have heard this song soooo many times. Its a classic isn't it? Great choice, I've always loved the violin in the middle. Really fits with the rest of your selections.

12. White Sky by Vampire Weekend :D Despite my earlier complaints about Contra

this song may be one of my favorites by them. This and Giving Up The Gun. and Horchata. And everything else. Seriously I don't know what I was complaining about before. Love this band.

13. This song definitely fits perfectly after the last one. I kinda love it. This woman's voice fits perfectly with the song and style...it is a girl right? There really isn't much to say about this one other than that I definitely didn't expect it, have no idea who it is but I like it anyway. Its happy, has an old style to it, but sounds new. Once again I love the strings.

14. And we have a language change up ladies and gentlemen. Verrrrrry pretty. Soft. I like his voice. Are those horns?...Strange choice, yet fitting. I like it...despite having no idea what he is singing about.

15. And we end with a short, sweet Beatles note. Her Majesty, in fact. Made me laugh after all of those severely long songs. Kind of bridged the gap between the different genres represented throughout the mix. Nice way to end the tape.

I recommend definitely listening to 1, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, and 14.

Thanks again! :D

Well that was me :p I was really iffy cos I had a feeling we were kinda music compatible :uhoh: Glad you enoyed it though :nice:

I'm so happy you liked #1 :surprised: it's one of my favorites <33333, #4 I first heard a couple of months back in my friends truck when she played it on our way to a football game, it's a grower but it's goooood :D, #6: LISTEN TO THE WHOLE FOR EMMA, FOREVER AGO ALBUM, IT'S PURE BEAUTY AND AMAZINGNESS AND WOW...

#8 gets that alot, soothing-like...but it's actually quite sad

#9... Fleet Foxes had to grow on me for a while but the EP was beyond awesome :nice:

#10  i was so scared that my partner would hate me for putting this in there... I'm so happy you don't!

#14 Sigur Rós <3333333 beautiful music

I love Mew's latest single though, Repeaterbeater. Just this song isn't my thing ;)

SarahSchimidt[/color]!!! Glad you like my mix :D

I rock, I so guessed that was you :P

the mixtape I was supposed to have is corrupted so can the person re-upload it please ?

Until then The Escapist was sweet enough to give me one of the spare mixtapes so Im currently listening to it, and will review it with pleasure :)

I rock, I so guessed that was you :P

You did?!! What betray me?! (Gossip?! :P )

You did?!! What betray me?! (Gossip?! :P )

(shush, my partner hasn't reviewed mine yet). French songs and different styles :)

I'm so transparent  now you've seen a part of my sometimes sucky tastes! :D

a-chan > looks like you've got eclectic tastes, I do, too, so I'll give it a try (although I already know I'll dislike some of these artists, and btw I belong to your other Julien Doré category ahah)

a-chan > looks like you've got eclectic tastes, I do, too, so I'll give it a try (although I already know I'll dislike some of these artists, and btw I belong to your other Julien Doré category ahah)

 I KNEW you would be a Julien's hater! But hope you'll like at least some of the tracks! ;) Can't wait to hear yours :curtain:

Crazy mix of songs/styles there Aurelie :D

Yes, that's me! I've got multiples personnalities  Same goes for movies and books. At least, if someone gives me present, he has a good chance to find something I might like

Love the new avi btw ;)

Thx! This pic make me laugh.... This shirt is priceless and reminds me of Fez from 70's show

Just downloaded mine. Will post some thoughts on it later.

Kay, I wrote half of my review but deleted it by accident.... well fail but just pretend I wrote this as I was listening because that's what the original was like. (I listened to it once during school today but in broken-up segments, then as a whole this evening.) (thpoilered coz it's long)

Track 1 - Really really awesome, I love this song so much. Good instrumentals... good... idk vocal humming or whatever. I don't know why I like it so much but it's really good, and a really good way to start off the mixtape. .... I really like it :wacky: I am really eager to see who the artist its...

Track 2 - This track is OK, but it's too long and... emoey I guess, the bit about this not being a fairy tale and it being real got a little tiresome. I did like the "tell me telll meeeeee" parts though.

Track 3 - The vocalist sounds a little like Brandon Flowers in some parts... but I don't think this is a Killers song so I don't have any real guesses. I did like it, though, a lot. The first time I was eh about it coz the chorus is realllly repetitive but I like it more now. (haha... "you win some you lose some, I feel bad for you man"... reminds me of Optimistic... oh phooey i am such a radiohead fangirl :disappointed:)

Track 4 - I like this too... catchy, it's nice. Digging the vocals. A bit rockier than I normally listen to but I really like it.

Track 5 - The coolness rating of this mixtape goes up about 10565 points here... "sweeeeet dissssposssittionnnnnn" -- one of my favorite songs ever, kudos dude. :nice: I love The Temper Trap, specially this song. Put a huge smile on my face when it came on. Great spot to put it, too, after the last song... the mix was getting a bit tough but then this track is all like "yeah I'ma chillax this mixtape out naow" and stuff... yeah well good positioning. :nice:

Track 6 - another relaxed tune, I liked this too. I am pretty impressed with this mix so far. nice song. I really dig the little... idk "rum pum ooh ooh" things in the background... WAIT IS THIS GRIZZLY BEAR? THIS IS GRIZZLY BEAR ISN'T IT. Please tell me I am at least on the right track here... I'm surprised, I listened to Veckatimest but it was boring as shit, I like this song though... well gee wouldn't it be embarrassing if this song was on Veckatimest... silly me... anyway really good song, maybe I should give Yellow House a listen or something. Thanks a bunch. :nice: (If it is Grizzly Bear. God I would hate myself if it wasn't, I would lose so much indie cred :shame:) Good thing you reuploaded this then.

Track 7 - IT HAZ A SAXOPHONE AT THE BEGINNING. I really like how this mix has mellowed out. I love the little... I really don't know what to call it, it's like this squeaky thing "boo boo dee doo... ba-dee dooo" or something. I like it anyway. this song is good. Has a nice jazzy vibe to it, and I like it when the singer goes into falsetto too. This one grew on me a bit also.

Track 8 - What can I say, this mixtape is really good, I dig this one too. :nice: I'm basically 100% positive this is Sigur Ros which again adds awesome points. Haven't heard this song I don't think, though, thankies thankies it's really good.

Track 9 - CROWN OF LOVE :freak: +moar points

Track 10 - Pretty flipping sure this is Arcade Fire too but it must be off of Neon Bible coz I never really listened much to that album... eh heh heh. Why is this mix so nice? :nice:

Track 11 - I like this too... the vocalist is nice. He reminds me a leetle bit in some spots of Tim Baker...? (This is good, because Tim Baker is awesome.) ...Yeah I like this one too, I really want to find out who made this tape coz they are awesome. :wacky:

Track 12 - This one is good too... I don't like the singer as much as the others (incidentally I don't think there are any women singing on this tape... kinda sad coz I listen to too many dude singers ) anyway this one is good too, though, I imagine I'll warm up to the vocals over time, I usually do if I like the instrumentation of most songs.

Track 13 - The piano is so lovely. I'm a sucker for lovely piano, what can I say. Lush little ambient track, nice nice nice. Really pleasant. :wacky:

Track 14 - I really like the transition, coz it was all... you know... we just finished a piano song so let's start the next song with moarrrr pianoooo (:cheesy:)... so yeah. I think I mayyyy have heard this somewhere before but I'm not sure. Gah nice mixtape is nice. Who are you, mixtape maker? I really wanna know.

Track 15 - Last track  Really pleasant song, great way to finish this off. This sounds a lotttt moar like the Killers than Track 3... actually I am pretty sure it is. Well anyway I haven't heard it (I'm a terrible fan ) so... again, thanks thanks.

zomg thank yew so muchhhhh... artist names track names album names etc etc NAOW plz... I really liked thissss :wacky: Track 4 was especially a lot different from what I generally listen to so thanks, always good to find songs I like in genres I don't appreciate as much. Really thank you. I'ma go listen to this moar. :escaping:

incidentally I want mah review  from my person

Edit: You can really tell how nice this was because of the embarrassing amount of smilies I used, I almost never stoop to such huge amounts of smiley usage unless it's thuper good. ^-^

Let's go!

My mixtape Review:

When I first saw what you named the songs "Crazy Frog...." I was thinking... Oh gawd... but you were just messing with me.... :laugh3:

Overall it was a great mixtape and I got this 80's British pop-rock feel from it, very cool :cool4: ( i dunno, i could be completely off here)

01. I liked this one :nice: Something about "fucking in the alley" and I was like ooooohhhh :surprised: I knew I was gonna like it... I also enjoyed the chorus very much makes me wanna get up and throw my hands in the air and dance -----> Very upbeat sex song, I'm guessing, hahah

02. Mew, right? Funny story: I just got this album like a few days ago :p

03. "Tell me why does the river not flow" DUN DUN DUN!!!!!! I'm strangely attracted to this song :wacky: I have reasons to believe I would not like this but yet I'm liking it...I know it makes no sense but... :toilet:

04. I like the starting beat... It sounds so familiar but I'm 100% sure I've never heard it before... I dunno, It keeps the same beat throughout but it's pretty good :nice:

05. Oooooh I liked this one from the moment it started! "I dunno what to do, I dunno what to do..." Makes me think of like Disco era and I wanna dance

06. Hmmm, there's potential of me completely hating or really liking this song. It's gonna be definite grower if the latter. I mean, it's not baaaaaaaddd but

07. Very sweet song, kinda inspirational..."My light shines on!!!" I really like the Choir singing in the background <3

08. This is like a remake of a Christina Aguilera :o I like it... I like it very much :surprised: :guitarist:

09. Ehhh... For some reason I found it a bit annoying. It seems like something I would play when I mad and trying to trash my room from the rage hahahah!

10. I WANTED TO SHOOT THE SINGER there for a little while but then all of the sudden (!) I started to like the song... And I found myself nodding my head along to it wishing I knew the lyrics so I could sing along xD

11. Hmm... interesting song, but I didn't like this one very much

12. Kinda soothing music, AAAAAaahhh oh oh oh!! I like it :wideeyed: Really awesome song :D :D

13. The lead singer was sorta Fleet Fox-like but the music was completely different, nevertheless, I enjoyed the song very much :nice:

14. Ooh! an acoustic guitar!...and WHOOOAAA! I <3d this song :D it's really upbeat and fun and :awesome:

15. Meh. I didn't like it... at all...

16. I think I know what this is... I've heard it before... omg ...omg ...It's Oasis :), right?! Omg... I love this song... I dunno if I have it... it's quiet beautiful, The Masterplan <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Wonderful way to end the mixtape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go!

Song 1: Not too bad. Good instrumentals, but not crazy about the vocalist. Wonder what band this is; they've probably got a lot of stuff I'll like!

2: Postal Service :D haven't listened to them in a while. A few summers back, I was a huge PS listener but dialed it back as Deathcab rose. Good song.

3: Couldn't get into this one. Too plain/folk-like/indie for me. I think I've heard this before? Not sure where.

4: Maybe my favorite song on the whole CD. Never heard anything from these guys before! Cool intro, good vocals and strong lyrics. Definitely worth checking out.

5: I'm beginning to think the person who made my mixtape has excellent taste in music and appreciates good instrumental work. Knowing artists that I'm into, they have been able to mostly avoid stuff I've heard (which is a lot) and still keep it in the wide ranges I like. Vocals were maybe a little airy/mopey for me, but otherwise still a strong offering.

6. "You have to set yourself on fire" an interesting little intro to say the least. Gets into great opening instrument work when smooth vocals enter. Very happy song with quite a few different sounds going on. Works well!

7. Cool background work, but the vocals are awesome! Love her sound; really want to know who this is. Definitely the best lyrical track on the CD.

8. Imogen Heap-Hide and Seek! I haven't heard the non-Tiesto remix (which I LOVE) in a really long time. She has great vocals and the song is quite different from what most are used to. She has a lot of other great songs and is worth a check out. Thanks for reminding me of the original :)

9. Starlight-Muse. One of my more favorite Muse songs, so much so that I've actually inserted it into my NHL10 on my PS3's music list. I hear it in the menus so I'm growing a little weary of it but it's still a great song.

10. No Sunlight-Death Cab for Cutie. Catchy song but not my favorite from Narrow Stairs (which is an amazingly good album). Excellent choice for the middle of the CD though!

11. Where the Story Ends-The Fray. Another of my favorite bands, and one of my favorite songs from them! This, Look After You, and Vienna are three songs I could listen to on an endless loop. Brought a smile to my face :)

12. Human-The Killers. Been a huge huge fan of them ever since I got Hot Fuzz a little after it came out and completely memorized the CD. Thought Sam's Town was a little weak, and that their newest album was the weakest so far. Human was certainly the bright point of the album though, and it's a shame it'll be remembered as part of it IMO. Good dance-y song!

13. Treasure Hunt-Howling Bells. One of the two songs I've listened to by them, and forgot how much I liked her vocals. I'm going to resume my quest to find more from Howling Bells!

14. Kiss With a First-Florence+The Machine. This is one of those songs you know you've heard at a party or something and couldn't for the life of you remember what it is and it kills you! Love this song; much better than the third song but still kind of in the same genre.

15. I Feel It All-Feist. Thought this sounded a little like Feist :D I take back everything I said before this track: THIS is my favorite song from the CD. I've listened to it a lot already and it's made its way onto my daily walking huge playlist, quite an honor.

16. Flightless Bird, American Mouth-Iron & Wine. I've Viennese Waltzed to this song! Heard it when a friend sent it to me. I later found out it was on the Twilight Soundtrack (promptly pounding my friend) but it's still a great song. Very pretty and fun to VWaltz to!

17. No clue who this one is. Cool instrument work, but not all that crazy about the vocals but the lyrics are good. Catchy.

18. Somewhere Only We Know-Keane. CLASSIC song, been used in tons of great scenes for years. Despite how much I've heard it, I always find it hard to skip over. One of those songs that just make you say, "WOW." Must listen!

19. Young Folks-Peter, Bjorn and John. I'm beginning to sense that the person who made my tape is a big fan of songs they've heard on TV and in movies :p Pretty cool song. Takes a little while to hit the vocals, but they back up the interesting intro and are really unique.

20. Fell in Love Without You-Motion City Soundtrack. Just recently started listening to MCS (actually heard their albums on the drive back to college for this semester) and I'm impressed. Vocals are much better than bands of the same type and the slightly repetitive lyrics still work really well. Great ending song!

Thanks so much to my mixtape maker! You added quite a few new songs to my collection and gave me more artists to check out, which was more than I had hoped for.
