The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)

Featured Replies

Are we gonna post lists of bands we like, so the person who's making us a mixtape can see it? A few people did that last time, and somebody suggested everybody should do it this time.

You can post a list if you wish not to recieve artists that you already know well. Just remember that this might make it difficult for the person making your tape if you listen to a lot of music which leads me to the next option. You can say which sort of music you don't want to get or just be happy with whatever comes your way. The choice is yours. If you do post a list however, I will link it to your name on the first post to make it easier to find. Just don't be too disappointed if you get some music that you have heard before, its basically inevitable.

We also have 24 people signed up in the last 24 hours. Thats incredible guys, well done.

I followed the last few exchanges and always thought this is pretty exciting and interesting. Strangely enough, I never got to participate.

That's why I guess you can count me in this time. :)

Everyone has been added to the list. I suggest that people start on there mixtapes now to make the two week deadline.

I've already started coming up with some ideas for mine

Can I make a suggestion? You know, after all the mixes have been sent, listened to and reviewed, ppl generally post their links so everyone else can d/load and have a listen - well, can I suggest at this point we also upload our mix tapes with all the info still on each track. Cos after ME4 I d/loaded a shitton of interesting tapes from other ppl and now have a bunch of un-named stuff in my mediaplayer library and without trawling thru the old thread I have no idea what's what & who's who. Just a suggestion.... :)

Ok. What I'll do is when they send in their mixtapes they will be required to send in a tracklisting as well. When the reviews are posted, I will link the tape, the tracklisting and the review to the persons name in the first post for everyone to download. Sound good?

^Yeah that's a good idea, it was such a pain organizing all the new songs I liked.

edit: Here's a list of artists I don't really want, I suppose. :nice: I kept it pretty short.

Apparatjik

Aqualung

Arcade Fire

Arctic Monkeys

Bat For Lashes

The Beatles

Coldplay (well... duh)

Gorillaz

Hey Rosetta!

The Last Shadow Puppets

Los Campesinos!

Radiohead

Sigur Ros

Thom Yorke

Yep...

edit: Also I am going to review my mixtape totally honestly, don't be super offended if I say it sucks...

It isn't complicated at all... O_o

this is too complex i dont have much time for this

Which part complicates things? Anyway I can make it clearer?

hmmmmm do i have to really make like a compilation of mashed up songs then send it in as a file??

Yes, that's the main idea. You get a heaps of songs and put them into a playlist, then remove the info and upload it in a folder or as separate files.

Ok. What I'll do is when they send in their mixtapes they will be required to send in a tracklisting as well. When the reviews are posted, I will link the tape, the tracklisting and the review to the persons name in the first post for everyone to download. Sound good?

hmmm yeah, but then I'd still have to manually type all the track name/album name/artist name etc and I'm too lazy for all that... I just thought it'd be nice to be able to download the same mix with all the track info still there, after the event of course. It don't matter

I'm in! :)

EDIT: Artists I don't want are:

Coldplay (of course)

Muse

Radiohead

Owl City

Death Cab for Cutie

Green Day

...and any other mainstream radio bands out there.

I'm in, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make an interesting tape, I'll definitely try anyway

You don't mash them up, you just pick some, delete the artist, song, album names, etc, and put them in a .rar file or something and put it on rapidshare or something.

(I assume you mean a mash-up like some sort of remixy thing)

well I've never done a mixtape before but I'll give this one a go :)

Awesome. Mr Boss is on the bandwagon!

I suppose. I'm not really going to force everyone to upload there tape again with a tracklisting especially when some reach up to 80mb. The best I can really do is what I offered, Sorry.

Thanks for joining in Lore. The more the merrier.

Some people don't want to get what they already like, and some don't want to get what they don't like, and if they post a list it may be useful information to the mixtape maker. But then again, some mixtape makers wouldn't want to change their idea because of a list. I don't know...

I wouldn't mind if a song or a few by a band/bands I already like is in the mixtape.

edit: ok, here's a list of musicians I like (but I haven't heard all of the songs by a few of them!). Whoever is the one who's going to make a mixtape for me, they don't even have to look at the list, if they don't want to.

Apparatjik

Arcade Fire

Arctic Monkeys

Bat for Lashes

Battles

The Beatles

Beirut

Coldplay

Death Cab for Cutie

James Morrison

The Last Shadow Puppets

Late of the Pier

Metric

Muse

Owl City

Radiohead

Snow Patrol

Thom Yorke

U2

^You have a point. It's really up to the person. I for example have tried to put mainly in music I like but is resonably varied but Im not going to change it if the person already listens to a certain artist.

well I've never done a mixtape before but I'll give this one a go :)

Yeah Bossman is with us!!

For the mix, personnally, I'll upload also the nativ version of my mix with the infos. I don't mind doing it :)

As for the list, I want a surprise so I won't put one. Don"t mind having sthg I like or hate. I had a great time last year knowing nothing :)

I think that it's okay what you put in just as long as it's not Coldplay, Muse or Radiohead...unless they've never heard any of these bands which is unlikely

Oh, I would certainly like to join in on this one! :) Count me in, please! :nice:
