🌙 COLDPLAY ANNOUNCE MOON MUSIC OUT OCTOBER 4TH 🎵

Why did Coldplay left off to play Speed Of Sound live?

I sincerely hope that the decision to stop playing Speed of Sound had nothing to do with the Clocks comparisons or the fact that Chris sometimes mocks X&Y. I got to see it in 2008, and it was one of the bigger sing-alongs of the night.

I just miss it massively!! :bigcry:

Speed Of Sound, that is ....

SOS is MY SONG!!

The song which started everything of in a bigger way ... :)

And personally I think SOS would have fit much better to the visuals they had for Glass Of Water ... :(

Besides SOS I would kill hearing White Shadows live as I wasn't that lucky to catch them during their Twisted Logic tour ... :(

So I missed out on that and many other great tracks .... :bigcry:

So do I. Chris always puts down X & Y but I love most of the songs on it.

I was at the last gig of the x&y tour, and they seemed to have got pretty sloppy and blase about Fix You. I said at the time I hoped they'd never play it again, but this tour (thanks to Eno I think) they seem to have got a lot of their passion for the old songs back (and passion in general), and I've enjoyed Fix You tremendously at each and every one of the six shows I saw this tour, it was a real highlight.

Now Speed of Sound, I loved hearing live after I finally got into this song on the first UK leg proper of the tour, it was magical. But it is too similar to Clocks (which unfortunately they'll never drop - I'm so sick of that song).

White Shadows was incredible live, Square One was just about the perfect intro to any gig imaginable, and GPaSUYF (proper version) was always one of their most impressive numbers live...sigh...

Still, at least this tour I've heard Trouble and the wonderful Green Eyes a number of times, Square One and GPaSUYF (proper) once....and my beloved The Hardest Part almost every time, so I suppose I shouldn't complain too much. But it's hard not to when they padded the set out with a long version of Billie Jean at the last three gigs I went to...and two versions of LiT, with The Escapist as an outro also? I know they want a theme for the whole night, but...

Moan moan grumble grumble. Surprised someone hasn't already come in and said 'don't like it? Don't go to the gigs' but it's only a matter of time.

Warning Sign I will never hear live again, I know that now, it's finally sunk in after this tour

I couldnt imagine a coldplay concert without Fix You

just because the song means something so very very personal to me

hearing them sing it right in front of me

...considering where i was when i first heard it........

it just illustrates how increadible and miraculous it is when events and decisions change your life. its mindblowing

...for me at least

I would love to hear Speed of Sound though maybe instead of Clocks since theyre so similar

Oh, the clock is in history!:(

I wish I came back to X&Y era to hear Swallowed inthe Sea, White Shadows, Speed of Sound, Clocks with coloured blocks on the screen and of course to see Chris's tricks with lamp during Fix You! :rolleyes2: but then I was just a poor student

well see thats why im going to do that in Bogota on March 4th

only instead of a lightbulb it will be a glowstick...

but yeah im going to pass out glowsticks in the pit and see if i can get some people to swing them around during fix you at the same part chris did with the lightbulb during Twisted Logic Tour

it'd be awsome

Mmmmh I must admit I was not impressed by how Speed of Sound sounded live on this tour, it was less powerful than on cd, so I really didn't miss it on last year's concerts.

Other than that I consider myself lucky cause even tough I saw them live in 2005 for the first time, I got to hear Shiver in one of the very few gigs they played it, so that's one song less on my list of Coldplay songs I need to hear live :P

I saw Speed of Sound on leg one and it wasn't as great as Clocks. They are far to similar and Clocks is the better of the two.

On the Fix You note, lyrics hit close to home. I get how it means so much to so many. The last two times I saw them I did not like it as much. I think the open air, 90,000 singing made it hard to top.

I understand how its hard for the boys to play a different set night in and out. I would like to see some slots where there is a choice and they can change say 5-7 songs for cities close to each other or night one and night two.

Like Death Will Never Conquer or Till Kingdom Come.

Politik or Square One (what I Would give to hear them back to back)

In My Place or Talk

Death and All His Friends or Fix You

Scientist or Trouble

Yellow needs to go. They need it to sit out for awhile and one day they will have passion for it again.

SoS was underwhelming suck when it was played.

Maybe because they played SoS at C-stage in Australian leg of the tour? and it was acoustic version...

C-Stage doesn't really matter, the acoustic just kinda sucked. If they played that everywhere else, belch. I don't know whose idea that was but it was a bad one.

I know, it's just that I don't really like it... unless they change it for Lost?.

But I know they won't :dozey:

yeah.. but during Lost! Chris throws a lot of things in the crowd, so.. I hope you will be lucky)

OH and I would love to hear Daylight. :)

Daylight is the good song as for conception of VIVA tour, such a nice vital hymn, not better that Strawberry Swing. So its strange that they forgot about this song...

Its so sad they dont play it, i would LOVE i they play it live on the latín tour!!

I think that latin tour setlist will be generally the same that was in 2009:\

So do I. Chris always puts down X & Y but I love most of the songs on it.

Very cruely that Coldplay play only Fix You from X&Y now. Those weird versions of

Talk and Hardest Part I can't count as real X&Y sound.

I would love to hear Speed of Sound though maybe instead of Clocks since theyre so similar

Similar in what?

Mmmmh I must admit I was not impressed by how Speed of Sound sounded live on this tour, it was less powerful than on cd, so I really didn't miss it on last year's concerts.

 the only song that was less powerful than on cd is Chinese Sleep Chant for me. So I think Chris's voice on CD in this song is not natural:P
