I need your advice...

Last night I started my college course. It's going to be two nights a week, four hours sessions for six months. It's not that bad, plus it's a web-design and design in general course, which is something I love.

Problem is... I don't know, I got a good impression last night, everyone seems nice but the rest of the students are all in their thirties or so, and I'm the only one who's seventeen :o I feel a bit alone.

Plus I thought this course will help me to improve my design skills, but turns out it's pretty basic. They start from scratch because these people haven't got a clue in webdesign... I've been working with webdesign and designs for about five years now so I'm pretty skilled, so most of the things I'm going to study there aren't new to me.

I will get some sort of degree when I'm done, and I will learn some things... but most of them are pretty much things I can learn on my own? I practice a lot as it is anyway. I don't need to start learning everything all over again.

Is it really worth my $1500?

Shall I quit or go on?

I would say stick it out a little longer then make a decision - you can't really decide after one day. Would you get $$ back if you quit?

its up to you but from what you wrote id say quit :dozey: :D ..i dont see any advantage jus that peeps are nice...lol.....but....after having a look at your sites i deffo think you dont need to spend $$$ for a "basic" course :)

Cheers Momo :D

Thanks both of you though... I think I'll stay for a week or two and then see where it goes. I really hope I get my money back... well, my parents paid for it and now I feel awful :( bahhh

maya are you going to go to the army?

If you think the degree will take you somewhere, take the class.

If you are not learning anything, I would say take a more advanced class.

(that's just my opinion)

I would, but turns out there isn't an advanced class

I guess I'll stay for a bit and see what it's like :D Thanks for your help guys!

Yeah, next year though :)

for how long, 1 and a half years?

I would approach the course leader and see if there is some flexibility in the course design. You may find that he may allow you to do project work which he could provide aditional supervision on when they are covering issues you are confident about. You could then re-join at the later advanced stages...

Failing that quit out if you can get a rebate because there is no point in wasting time when you know something is time wasting...

And yes your existing sites are very good so I'm sure you should be 'advanced'! :D

That's exactly what I did yesterday - I phoned him and he told me not to worry as later I get to go as further as I want and kinda "do my own thing". So in the meantime I'm staying :)

Thanks a bunch though!

If you have already paid; Go on, a shame to waste money.

If you haven't already paid: Quit, it aint worth that much money to learn such few things.
