Ode to deodorant

Featured Replies

I know there are some song that have strange meanings, and there are also some threads talking about terrible lyrics.

But there is something about this song. what the fuck? an ode to deodorant, just because it is the confidence he needs.

Is there someone that can explain me this?

I don't know...was he "the smelly kid?" And this was the only way he could get up the courage to talk to the ladyfolk? hmmm

I think Chris wrote the song as a joke or just for fun. I mean, it's like a full-out rock song about something mundane, like deodorant.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you're looking for . . .

do you think there is a relationship with the "teen spirit" that nirvana smells?

I think Chris was "spraying" for forgiveness when he wrote it.

Nothing grandiose. Just deodorant.

Same with "Yellow". He just saw the Yellow Pages on the shelf. Well, the song was about more than just the Yellow Pages, but not the name of the song itself. Sorry to disappoint.

I like it the way it is. It's supposed to be crappy and obscure.

The lyrics are pure genius though. :awesome:

Nice guitar riff, crappy lyrics.

I agree with rickenbacker, fantastic song!!

And I just see it as a fun song. Maybe it was made late at night as a joke but then it turned into a proper song, who knows!

Rove  asked a similar question btw, 5:25mins:

Amazing song! It's a joke, like The Nappies, but Ode To Deodorant has something more...

Maybe there's even a link between the two, bearing in mind that nappies smell, and the deodorant could be an antidote!:P

Yes, I reckon you should go ask it immediately!

I like the song! especially the guitar riff and I think the lyrics are hilarious. I believe it was meant as a joke so if they decided to record a new version of it, I would be happy :D
