February 1, 201016 yr Hey guys- Ten years ago, she was nothing more than a teen idol with very little talent. She, along with ‘NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, dominated the pop music charts in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Everyone feverishly hated on her, and savagely poked fun at her. And everyone theorized that she would disappear like all manufactured, teen-pop acts. Well- She didn’t. Last year was a banner year for ‘The Princess of Pop’. She went on an incredibly successful world tour that was critically acclaimed and highly attended. It was probably her biggest tour to date. Hell, even my two 35-year-old co-workers went to see her live at the AAC in Dallas. Britney seems to have won and/or re-gained the respect from the mass audience. Everyone last year was like: “Britney’s back and she’s straightened herself out”. On top of that- She still lip-syncs. How do you feel about Britney’s renewed popularity? Has your view of Britney changed in the wake of the revitalization of her music career? Have you developed deep inside you a newfound R-E-S-P-E-C-T for Britney? When you think of Britney’s recent success story- Would you say “Good for her”? Why or why not? By the way- Let’s avoid such clichéd assertions like “The music industry sucks”. I’m trying to find some fresher arguments regarding Britney’s mark on popular music. Thanks guys.

February 6, 201016 yr Kate Bush decided to stay out of the limelight because it affected her as an artist. The limelight has affected Britney Spears as a mentally stable human being. She's got enough money to live out the rest of her life without being on the front of magazines and within 5 years nobody will care, and she can raise her kids as a decent mother. The last news I heard about her is that she was losing her kids again some years ago. I don't know what angle the original post in this thread was written in, but it's incredibly annoying in terms of gaining the scoop, please fuck off and die.
February 6, 201016 yr Author ^I wasn't trying to gain a 'scoop', whatever that is. Nor was I even trying to cause trouble. Like I said, Britney was hated 10 years ago because she was leading that whole teen-pop era of the late 90s, and everyone shits on teen pop. So I was wondering if people have had a new-found acceptance of her now that she's had much success for over 10 years and maintained a solid fanbase. That's all.
February 6, 201016 yr what the fuck :laugh3: That's pretty funny. Rolling Stone has always been as much about popular culture as it is about music. I could find covers that are even worse. I still think that some of their feature articles on different artists are the best around. Never judge a book, or in this case a magazine, by it's cover.:D
