What the fuck is wrong with people?

^Yes, you've said that before, but that generally hasn't been my experience.

That's the point - I don't believe it does, generally. From my experience, people in other countries are generally far more courteous and polite. The funniest thing about this is that you're complaining about people being rude, but you're about as rude as they come, and you don't even seem to realise it.:dozey:

Since when has "generally" meant never?

You're so wrong. I actually had a conversation about this with someone in work a while ago. He lived in Switzerland for half a year as he said the one thing he found depressing about the place was that he hardly ever saw anyone smile.

Sorry, that comment wasn't aimed at you, which is why I edited it.;)

MARK SHUT IT NOW! You're destroying this thread with your pointless posts!

To get back to the topic (hopefully):

I'm sitting here at work (I'm a security guard so I am at the exit to the building), as people leave I smile at them and if they say goodnight, I'll wish them the same thing. But the vast majority of people when I smile at them, rather than sharing a few seconds of pleasantness with another person choose to stare at me for a few seconds like I am a piece of shit, while walking out of the building and completely forget I was even there as they walk through the door. This genuinely annoys me so much, I could easily sit there with a face like an arse ignoring them as they walk out, but no I actually try to be nice to people and they don't even give a shit. I dunno if it's me that has an old style mentality or what but I get actual joy from people being polite (not because they feel like they have to but because they want to) to each each other, does that just not happen for most people, if we can't even connect with each other on such a basic level then what the fuck is the point?

I'm not saying you should go round saying hi to everyone, that would make you a lunatic...but it's little bits of niceness and tiny acts of selflessness that make me smile. Am I really in a minority here? Are most people really as self obsessed as they seem to be?

I must say that for the majority of people who are like this there are still a handful of genuinely nice people who are friendly etc, but they really do get lost in a sea of shit, it's lucky those people exist or I'd just lose faith in humanity completely.

I don't even know why I made this a thread, I just need to get it off my chest before I snap and punch the next person in the face who walks past.

I hate it, too, when people are just like mindless pieces of flesh that don't give a crap about others. Fortunately when I was younger I happened to get shout at by a teacher because I didn't hold the door open for him. And then I learned my lesson and suddenly discovered that people (well most of them) are happy that you actually notice them.

When I was at an university a few weeks back, there was a cleaning lady with a giant packed cart in the hallway. There were also hundreds of students just ignoring her, and she had to go through a big metal door but didn't have a free hand. So I just held the door open for her and she looked like she was about to hug me :stunned: I mean, how can one ignore such a person?

If I smile at someone or being nice and I don't get a positive response I believe that this person is just too busy or grumpy. I mean, humans can be so different that I expect every reaction. Oh and I can only agree with Gautama; if you have unpolite and rude parents, you automatically copy their behaviour. It's rather sad that every person could be polite but just isn't because of bad education.

I hope I'm not rambling too much...

I smile and then run away.

I smile and then run away.

...

well at least you smile! :laugh3:

(hopefully not that creepy wacky one :uhoh:)

How would you :wacky: anyways?

Is that kinda like sucking in your lips or what?

It's still not the most genuine smile though. :P

The wacky smiley kind of looks like the Grinch when he smiles.

simple... suck on a lemon or something really sour and try to smile

All I'm saying is, whatever your opinion about why a thread might have gone "off topic" (which isn't a crime, incidentally), you should in no way be condoning abusive posts from the likes of Gautama or people being sworn at/abused merely for expressing an opinion.;)

Mark how the fuck do you expect people to take you seriously, you spend most of your time arguing with people half your age on a Coldplay forum. Grow up and get a life. Trolling people and acting like a child on a forum is not going to help you get anywhere in life. We're tired of it. Stop acting like you're such a victim, no one feels sorry for you. Have you ever thought that maybe the reason people attack you all the time is because you really are those things they call you and accuse you of. If you really think you're being abused that much then do yourself a favor and click the log out button, and shut down the computer. There's way better things to do out there irl rather than acting like a complete cunt online. I'm being deadly serious now, if you continue to go on the way you do then you really need help. (please don't ignore my post or reply it with the usual "you're biased " bullshit, I really am being serious)

Sorry for bringing this back up, but Mark's attitude was really bothering me..

I eat lemons and such all the time and my face never does that. :disappointed:

I WAS BEING IRRELEVANT.

That post was completely unnecessary, as the discussion had finished ages ago, and it had nothing whatsoever to do with you. I don't have respect for anything you say whatsoever, anyway. If anyone needs help, it's you, and you should follow your own advice. End.;)

Those parents aren't even really rude, they're conformist to what is required on a too low, yet commonly, unconsciously agreed upon level of ethical education. And I've seen that all over the world.

VALERIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guapa, como estas?!

Julie just summarized rather valid points.

I don't believe she did. I believe my point about your comments was far more valid, and it's still being ignored. You're obviously going to agree with anything she says, anyway, so no surprise there at all.;)

yo soy muy bien, gracias. y tu, ivetitita? :nice:

No one ever said it was "finished" and I have every right to bring it back up if I want. Why do I need help? For getting angry with you? Whoopdeedoo! Welcome to the real world, where people get angry and question you when you do retarded things. Get over it.

No one ever said it was "finished" and I have every right to bring it back up if I want..

No you don't, as it had nothing to do with you, and several people had requested the thread return to "topic", which it had done until you stuck your nose in (as everyone will have seen).;)

If you hadn't responded it would still be on topic.

I stuck my nose in? It's a public forum, not someone's private conversation. I have every right to voice my opinion.

"Several people"?! What like, 2? Maybe 3?

Tonight was great in a way, since there was none.
