Band of Horses

Band of Horses return with their much anticipated third album, Infinite Arms, on May 18. But what label will release it? Possibly Sub Pop, who released their first two albums, but possibly not. The label hasn't been announced yet.

Touring members Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds make their debut on record with Infinite Arms, which was produced by the band and Phil Ek, who worked on the band's past albums. All five members contributed to the recording process, causing frontman Ben Bridwell to state, "in many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record."

Album to be released on May 18th by Brown Records/ Fat Possum Records/ Columbia Records

Band of Horses, the Low Country’s premier rock n’ roll outfit, will release their third full length LP, entitled Infinite Arms ,on May 18th through Brown Records/Fat Possum Records/Columbia Records.

The album package will feature the photography of the band's long time collaborator Christopher Wilson.

Produced by Band of Horses with additional production from Phil Ek, mixed by Dave Sardy, and recorded over a 16-month period, the songs on Infinite Arms project the essence of the different locales across America that became the setting for the recording and songwriting process behind the album. The rich musical heritage of Muscle Shoals, AL, the sublime beauty of Asheville’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the glamorous Hollywood Hills and the vast Mojave desert all influenced the sounds on Infinite Arms and helped yield the group’s most focused and dynamic recordings to date. The serene woods of Northern Minnesota and the band’s native Carolinas inspired the songwriting, lending the compositions an air of comfort and familiarity.

Band of Horses are Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. Long time touring members of the group, Infinite Arms marks the recording debut of Ramsey and Reynolds, while Barrett and Monroe graced the last album, Cease to Begin. Through touring together in support of Cease to Begin and during breaks in the Infinite Arms recording process, the band have become a cohesive force with all members making invaluable contributions to the unmistakable sound that founder Bridwell has crafted since the band’s inception. As Bridwell himself concedes, “in many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record.”

Oh yay, a Band of Hoses thread!

Anyone else a little let down by their latest album, though? The previous two met such high standards that they set equally high expectations, but still, I'm not feeling the same magic here...

Do you still feel disappointed by it, Michael? I absolutely love it. But then, Infinite Arms was the first album of theirs I listened to. Been listening to Cease to Begin and really like that one too. My favorite tracks on Infinite Arms are probably Laredo and On My Way Home

Yup, next week :awesome:

Just opened the album. First response: What a beautiful albumcover. Then I managed to rip it :|

It is a beautiful album cover! Sorry you ripped it! :( Have fun at the show!!

just stumbled on some of the band's songs & quite like the 2 i've heard so far (St Augustine, No One's Gonna Love You)...any other song suggestions? :)

I'd rec. Factory, Compliments and NW Apt off the new album.

I'm yet to invest in the previous ones, i should get on and deal with that really as they seem like a decent band :)

I love No One's Gonna Love You! I'd second squareonefivesix's recs, and I'd add Laredo, On My Way Back Home and Blue Beard. I posted On My Way Back Home on my tumblr... a few posts back. :D
