I'm voicing an opinion of what many people probably feel. I know this lounge is a place for general chit chat (non-coldplay related), but it is ruining the board.

 

Why is this happening? Ian is in charge he can do whatever he wants. That is fact. He pays to run this site, he can manage it how he wants. And he does a pretty fair and damn good job ok? Everyone just deal with it. You have to. The lounge used to be a nice place to visit but instead of talking about cool stuff all it is is arguments and bashing.

 

Thats not what this place should be about. And I doubt any of you will listen to me but oh well. And yeah I know I don't post here anymore, but there is a reason ;)

 

It's really not that hard to just get along and be civil at least. Why are you all looking for fights? You can't all be that bored or whatever. Everyone is looking for drama for drama's sake!

 

This is all just a waste of time. I doubt things will change soon but c'mon on people. We all came here because we like Coldplay, and this is not what Coldplay fans should be about. We are better than that.

 

Whatever feelings and arguments you have just let it go, it's not worth it, and if you have issues put people on ignore or just ignore people. You shouldn't care what random strangers over the internet think.

 

For the sake of this board and all the good members not posting anymore cos of this stuff, lets try and stop all this drama and crap.

the problem here is people's opinions are being deleted and 1 member worths more than 50 other members. I seriously think Ian overreacted.

 

Some people get answers to their requests and questions while others don't. I think people is asking for answers to fix this thing instead of inviting them to leave the site if they don't like the way things are going.

If you don't like the 'drama' and 'bashing' then ignore it, use your own advice. Whenever there's some arguments on the board people talk about it as if it invades every single thread, that's only because they go looking for it and then can run around saying "There's more bashing and flaming over there it's horrible!".

 

Look at the Lounge page right now, there's 3 topics I can see that focus on the 'drama', here's an idea, don't click on them. Pretend they aren't there. It affects nobody if they don't want to know. The same way I don't really click on topics that are dedicated to someone or a group of people because I probably won't be interested in what's happening inside.

 

For some of us this is important, it's free speech. You didn't get banned, and you don't know the members who did get banned.

 

It may be fun to come in here and set us all straight, but all you're doing is adding to what you see as the problem, and clogging up the forum with more 'drama'.

Like Reilly said, you'd be causing less drama if you just didn't create this thread. And it wasn't making drama for the hell of it, it was for a cause that you weren't here to see.

I don't think the intention of this thread was to start up more arguing. I think it was quite the opposite of that, actually. And yes, free speech is important, I think that's why all this arguing and drama has gone on for so long--Ian allowing everyone to voice their opinions and deal with stuff on their own. But when in the defense of "free speech" all that's happening is fights and drama, what's the use of that? I don't think the purpose of coldplaying(yeah, hellooo it's supposed to be about people being fans of the band,right?) is to come on and argue with people.

 

I also haven't posted much lately, so I'm sure people will say "what the hell does she know about what's going on," but I do take a look once in a while around here, and it does seem like the drama is taking over and definitely makes it less fun to be around.:\

It's also a very sensitive forum. There's a difference between arguing and disagreeing.

 

Like I said, 3 topics, just ignore them. I wasn't saying that this topic was written with the intention of causing people to argue, that would be a silly accusation.

 

This is adding to the 'drama' because all that we were ever going to do in this topic is talk about either; a) how there is no drama and you're all wrong or b) there is so much drama out there let's talk about how bad it is.

 

Either way, we're focussing on the thing this topic was supposed to negate.

 

I've made plenty of posts today that haven't been in those 3 'drama' topics and apart from the 'drama' which directly involves me as I have gotten myself involved, I have posted like I normally would on any other day at any other time.

 

Those few topics haven't hindered my enjoyment of posting in other topics, so again, I just don't see how it's "everywhere", it's only there if you look for it.

How is it 'ruining the board'? It is the ability to converse and disagree that keeps boards like these alive, I wouldn't come here otherwise. If all you want to do is agree that you love coldplay day in and day out, stay in the coldplay section. Most of this so-called fighting and incivility is often the direct result of people trying to stifle meaningful conversation. Ironically you've come here to assert your own opinion, but God help me if I disagree, for that would constitute an argument, and we can't have that can we...

 

No one is creating drama for drama sake, drama is merely the inevitable result of people saying what they really believe. The whole point of a forum imo is to serve as a place where one can express themselves with greater sincerity and honestly than real-life. If you're going out of the way to avoid any type of friction with people you'll never meet for the shallow sake of 'getting along' than it's clearly you that has a problem.

 

Furthermore, as others have pointed out, you have no idea what went on here. Multiple people had their accounts disabled, and people have a right to discuss and be upset about that. Obviously Ian has the authority to do what he wishes, but don't tell people not to care about what is obviously important to them.

So I thought I won't participate in all this but I have to.

As people already said we are here for Coldplay, and first I don't get people who join this place and don't love them. Of course you are all free to love different stuff but if this is COLDPLAYing than you should at least like something about them. But thats not the subject that is important here.
