he's still training to get better fitness and hasn't been playing in the qualifiers

we'll see if he will play against Turkey in october

Lahmy for captain!

guuuuurrrrrrl.

controversial statement right there. I just hope he doesn't get hurt in 2012 because he most likely won't be at the world cup in 2014 so I just want him to be able to play one last time for Germany

IDK about Lahm for captain love him, but I feel like is should go to Schweinsteiger if anyone

I know I hope he does play in 2012 and i agree he probably won't be there for 2014 but Miro is aiming for 2014!!!!!! I was so pissed when I saw the replays off the Boateng Incident :(

I AGREE WHOLE HEARTEDLY!!!!!!!!!!! Schweini for captain!

But Lahmy is capitano at the moment and that works for me

p.s Arne and Per are both hurt.:dead:

Bye Bye Toshack :)

Judging by his appearance, Toslack would be far more appropriate.:P

I spoke too soon Ballack is injured again out for 6 weeks :(

but Ballack said he won't retire he just needs to stop attracting injuries like they're going out of style :whip: :(

Are you trying to say he looks gay because I honestly can't see what else you could be saying with that 'pun', and if you are that's quite bizarre. I'm sure you aren't though, you might just need to explain it to a fool like myself.

wrong thread my bad!

watch lyon vs schalke today on a shitty stream

but yay lyon!

Are they gonna be entering the European Championships in two years time? :p

Emile Heskey Back For England? Err.. NO!?

What a funny world football is.

It wasn't long back - apart from a very few - that Emile Heskey was met with groans when his name was on the Villa's team sheets but since Gerard Houllier arrived and he brought Heskey on as a super sub, he's looked like a different player.

Now fair enough, a few good performances do not a great player make, but come on, admit it, did you ever think you would be saying 'we weren't the same after Heskey came off' as 'most' (?) of us did during the Spurs game?

He set up the goal and was putting in another good shift v Spurs before the old Heskey problem, injury, meant he had to come off.

Certainly strange to see what a difference certain managers make with certain players, must be down to their approach or just their ability to fill a player who is struggling with confidence.

Confidence and aggression seem to be the two things that Emile so often has missed from what I can see, certainly during his time at Villa. He's one of those that I ... and many others ... SO wanted to see do well because he did come as an underdog. To be fair he had resurrected his career at Wigan and a fair few of their fans were upset to see him go but we've seen very little in his time here to make any of us worry about a Heskey exit until the last few games, now he looks the business.

Apparently Heskey came off with a dead leg, so hopefully it won't take long to recover from and the international break could be in his favour.

As I say, what a funny world football is.

Capello makes plea for Heskey to come out of retirement

Emile Heskey has rejected the chance to come out of international retirement to ease England’s striker crisis.

The 32 year-old Aston Villa striker was approached by Fabio Capello last week and offered the chance to be in his squad tomorrow to face Montenegro in the Euro 2012 qualifier on October 12.

Before receiving the Heskey knock-back, Capello explained: “I saw Emile against Wolves and he played very well. He is in very good form. “We need him at this moment :whatever: and we will try and speak to him. We are talking about one game against Montenegro so he will have to decide.”

The SOS call to Heskey was made following a crippling injury list to front-line players which has prevented Capello from selecting either Jermain Defoe or Bobby Zamora. The form of West Ham’s Carlton Cole has also become an issue for the Italian coach.

Heskey won 62 caps for England, but scored only seven times during an 11-year senior international career. But he hung up his international boots immediately after the World Cup this summer.

It is understood that Heskey turned down the approach because there were no guarantees that he would be selected beyond one game and would be forced to announce his retirement for a second time.
