I don't particularly like it... but maybe I'll watch it just to see if the whole thing looks better.

I'm . . . cautiously optimistic about this?

Setting myself up for disappointment, though.

It seems more like a more insecure version of House to me :\

Even though Jonny Lee Miller is a fine actor, I'm not really feeling it :blank:

^that, it makes me also think of House :uhoh:

Maybe I'll see one ep and then realise I better didn't

Same here. I mean, I love Jonny Lee Miller and I think he's a fantastic actor (going to be seeing him and Benedict in Frankenstein in July!) so I think he makes a great Sherlock Holmes. . . but my only problem with this is their Watson. No, it's not because they made him female, my problem is because they completely destroyed the canon characterization of Watson. He's always been a noble, strong former army doctor that was unfortunately invalided home and found himself needing a flatshare with Sherlock. But to make Watson a former doctor (not an army doctor, which I feel is an important aspect of the character) but one that was sued or something (at least I'm pretty sure that was the story, can't be arsed to look it up but it was mentioned in one of the first articles about Elementary).

The trailer looks extremely promising in my opinion, with the exception of Watson freaking out over a dead body (you're a doctor? you must have worked with cadavers in med school????).

So, tl;dr: I think it would be good, I like JLM, but I don't like their adaptation of Watson.

I've only seen Jonny Lee Miller in a few episodes of Eli Stone, but he does seem like a great actor. He seems like a really cool guy too. With an adorable face. :wacky: (Ooh, nice! I'm going to see Frankenstein too! I'm counting down the days until the screening. Which version are you seeing?)

It's definitely understandable why people are concerned about the change to Watson's history. You're right; according to the synopsis, she lost her license after one of her patients died. :\ But like I said before, if the writers can make Joan a strong character who overcomes these obstacles and past demons, I'd be okay with the change. Maybe.

The things I'm most interested in are the deductions, Joan, her relationship with Holmes (not necessarily for the romantic aspect or whatever), and Holmes' characterization. Honestly, I'll be happy if this is, at the very least, a decent show. For me personally, it's just really exciting to see a woman of color as one of the lead roles, and I'm hoping Joan will be an awesome character.

Yep . . .

I'm seeing Benedict as Victor and JLM as The Creature. Going to try to see the other version too though, but it all depends on timing and such.

It's funny, because I'm least excited about Joan. I'm probably most interested in seeing how different it is from Sherlock; I always love seeing how different adaptations are.

Oh, and since today is Reichenbach and everything hurts, have a spoiler-y, depressing gif I made.

HAPPY REICHEN - wait.

That's a great gif, Christina! The colors are really nice.

Ah, cool. Hopefully you can see both versions. :nice:

That's alright! I'm just really intrigued by Joan, but the show will have plenty of different things to interest people. Guess we'll see how it is once the pilot airs.

I love it, though! Well done!

When does the pilot air? Is it in the autumn?

Yep, sometime in the autumn.

Benedict got my attention now! He's quiet great!

BTW, I received DVDs today! :D

Andrew Scott got a BAFTA! Sooo well deserved. And Moffat got the special award also deserved. :vuvuzela:

BAFTA AWARD WINNER ANDREW SCOTT

Well-deserved for a brilliant portrayal of Moriarty, imho. :wacky:

Why isn't there a picture of him and Benedict together? I demand a picture.

Very pleased to see Andrew win a Bafta, although I completely don't understand why they failed to see Benedict's brilliance as an actor in his category. He should have won a Bafta ages ago already.

Congrats to Andrew on winning a BAFTA and Steven Moffat too. But Sherlock losing the Youtube award thing. No. Just no.

Oh, his acceptance speech was adoooorable. Very well deserved indeed :3 Gutted for Benedict, though :( (as you've seen on my twitter :P)

I'm just gonna leave this here... :escaping:

:wacky:

He was such a sweetheart! Completely adorable :wacky: I felt a bit flushed, tbh! I got such a crush on him :wacky:

I love Martin Freeman and I think he had a great performance in the 2nd season of Sherlock, but I'm really happy for Andrew! He really did a fantastic work and he totally deserved the award! :D

I'm a bit sad for Benedict though. I don't know the work of the other nominated actors, to be honest, but it's a bit unfair that he hasn't received any BAFTA award yet! :(

:wacky:

It was clear that he was a bit nervous, which made him even more adorable! :wacky:

By the way, that's a really nice picture! :nice:

you know that I had tears in my eyes during Andrew speech :wacky:

And Benedict with Matt giving an award to Steven  so funny!

Congrats to Andrew Scott. I was moved by him. :)

Oh this ^

BTW, look this interesting ad I found. hahaha :laugh3:

It is a boring ad at most of time. But I saw this and thought this is good. :laugh3:
