11:10 a.m. - Wrapping it up with Coldplay

Jobs reviews all the new products. He mentions "the strongest lineup of iPods we've ever had."

As for Ping, "we think this is going to be very popular, very fast,' because all of the people who can access it starting today.

Jobs says his familiar wind-up catch phrase of his new products: "I hope you're as excited about them as we are."

Then he talks a bit about how much Apple loves music. "Whenever we have our music events, we like to remind ourselves why we do this -- and there's no better way to do this than to ask one of our favorite musical artists to perform."

It's Coldplay. So Chris Martin is coming out to play. "This is probably the toughest closing gig we've ever had," he says. "We don't have any new products to announce or nearly as many billions of downloads."

He begins playing a solo song on the piano...it's "Yellow."

11:21 a.m. -- Encore!

"I think we're finished," Martin says. "Is Steve around to tell me what to do?"

The audience asks for an encore.

"I'm afraid I'm played all the hits," he said. "Now we'll do the misses."

He makes some good jokes about a song with new chords "that even our closest rivals don't know anything about."

"It's called i Minor," he says.

Coldplay's Chris Martin makes surprise appearance at Apple convention

Singer debuts new track 'Wedding Bells' in San Francisco

Coldplay's Chris Martin showcased a new song this evening (September 1) during a special surpriseguest appearance at an Apple convention.

The singer performed 'Wedding Bells' at the end of a press conference for the company's new products at the Yerba Buena Centre in San Francisco which was also screened live on TV screens at The Brewery in east London.

Introducing the track, Martin who was wearing a white Flaming Lips t-shirt, joked: "This is a new song called 'Coldplay 2.6' and it has a lot of new features, it features seven different kinds of chords and even a new one that our closest rivals have no idea about," before adding: "This could be the only time you ever hear it. It could go terribly wrong but we'll see what happens."

The melancholic piano ballad featured the lyrics: 'Wedding bells are ringing/I don't want to swallow such a bitter pill/I always loved you and I always will'.

Earlier the Coldplay frontman also played 'Yellow' and their only Number One single 'Viva La Vida' which Martin revealed: "Our record company said this is not a hit single. But with the weight of Apple, they managed to turn it into a very successful single. So thank you."

Chris Martin played:

'Yellow'

'Viva La Vida'

'Wedding Bells'

Chris Martin Performs at the Apple Event in SF

It's tradition to have a performance by a popular artist at the end of the Fall Apple event, and although we made our guesses, we were not disappointed about who actually made the appearance. Not only was The Woz in attendance of today's presentation, but Chris Martin also hit the stage with a piano to perform some tunes. We were treated to one of my fave Coldplay songs, "Yellow," and Chris gave some major props to Apple for pushing Viva la Vida into the stratosphere.

Apple knows how to spice up its events.

Musician Chris Martin of Coldplay performed today during at Apple's special event update at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco

Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced an overhaul of its iPod line, reports USA TODAY's Jefferson Graham, a revamp of its underperforming Apple TV box, and a new social media network in iTunes. In a widely anticipated announcement, Apple cut the price of Apple TV to $99, down from $229. It will be available in four weeks.

Aftera new lineup of iPod models was rolled out, Martin took the stage to perform a new song on piano, as well as Coldplay hits including Viva La Vida and Yellow.

A Lady Gaga video was also used while Jobs unveiled "Ping," a music-centric social network set to be included in iTunes 10. The singer appeared in a pre-taped video from the studio to discuss the new feature, reports Billboard.

Suntan makes Chris looking older than he is! hihihih, but he looks nice anyway, tho you can tell he's been working out in the gym!

It's always nicer when they perform all together, but again, nice to see him playing, hearing some live stuff and so on ^^
