Everyone needs to calm down. What's so bad about an American citizen bringing up an issue she finds unfair? In New Jersey, they recently made a law that if a bear is found in a neighborhood they can take it away, even shoot it. If a disgruntled citizen thought that was unfair, would there be such an uproar as this? I think not.

Those poor bears.

She's not just doing it as a publicity stunt. Just because she cares to stand up for a cause doesn't mean she's doing it to bring attention to herself.

Just because you dislike her and her music doesn't mean you have to hate on what she does. Bitching about it doesn't make it less of a fact that she actually cares about things like repealing and getting others to repeal the DADT.

Like. Bolded part = win.

Exactly. She has more of a right to complain about the law than you do, Mark, because she lives here. It's in her rights to stand up for it because she's a citizen. It doesn't matter if she wears makeup (every female in my high school does, does that mean they can't stand up for anything Mark?) because physical appearance means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. And neither of us knows what her actual personality is, after all have you met her? I certainly haven't. Beyonce wears skimpy outfits when she performs, does that mean she's an absolute airhead whore?

Christina, I love you. :wacky:

Exactly my point ^

I hate Ke$ha but if she stood up for something I wouldnt be mad about it.

Besides if anything dont be mad at the person, be mad at the actual issue.

Again, good point.

So if I got a few thousand people to click a button on Facebook saying "Mark doesn't understand our points" would it be true?

He might not be on TV, but they do a lot of publicity for the causes on concerts just like U2 and I imagine many others...

And well, at least she has an opinion on a matter unlike you and many other Americans who don't care.

True.

I understand what you're saying on that second part, Ivet, but is it really that bad to not have an opinion? Ionno, I think people should be able to care/not care about what they want. It's all subjective.

So just because you don't like her she should be banned from the airwaves? D:

I really don't see why her supporting this is something to get upset about.

It wouldn't matter, since the airwaves plays what people want, and since people like Lady Gaga, they'll play her.

Also, I don't really have a problem, either, if she wants to do something like that.

it really isn't that hard to avoid her music, just don't listen to top 40 radio stations simple as that.

Exactly!

I will say, however, that because my marching band is doing a diva show with Lady Gaga in it, there will be times when avoiding her is impossible.

Get over yourself. Let the woman do whatever the fuck she wants to do. Does it affect your daily life? No.

YAY ALEXA. :awesome:

That it's pretty useless since being gay is pretty much disgusting to the eyes of the politicians and religion and it will never change :D

Unfortunately, this is pretty much true.

As has been said before, even if Coldplay is pop (and there are many people who dispute this), it's great pop, as opposed to what Gargoyle churns out, which is awful superficial cheese.:dozey:

Many people would be apt to disagree with you.

I wasn't saying they are pop. I also believe their genre is "alternative rock". I was merely saying that comparing Coldplay to Gargoyle is like comparing champagne to fizzy water.;)

They do have that tag on Last.fm. Then again, there's also an "indie" tag, and they're not indie at all, so you know. Honestly, I could care less what genre Coldplay are, because no matter what, I'm going to like them.

thou art pwned

From 2009 grammys, they won:

Best Pop Duo or Group With Vocal

* Coldplay - "Viva La Vida"

* Eagles - "Waiting in the Weeds"

* Gnarls Barkley - "Going On"

* Maroon 5 - "Won't Go Home Without You"

* OneRepublic - "Apologize"

tsss , really , I thought this was a Gaga free Forum

BUT NO !

They're everywhere ! :uhoh:

Is this to say you have prejudice against Lady Gaga fans? That's a bit unfair. I mean, it's not like people have bad taste because they like Lady Gaga. Ivet listens to her and likes her, and yet with all the other stuff she listens to, I think she has excellent taste in music. :nice:

It IS indeed very hard to believe that you can be very much 'into' Coldplay

while being busy with Gaga

So you can't like more than one artist at a time? Oh, the horror! :blank:

just because you don't like doesn't make it not music

YES.

Are you saying that 'Yellow', 'Speed of Sound', and 'Talk' aren't pop songs?

It's not just one hit song, it's quite a number. They cover a few genres but pop is certainly one of them.

Point well made.

Very true. It would be a bit like Barack Obama addressing America's citizens dressed as a clown!

I wonder how many people would take him seriously then?:P

There are a lot of people here that don't take him seriously as is, so who knows?

Gargoyle has about as much chance of doing a song with Coldplay as Miley Cyrus does - or Mickey Mouse or Kermit the frog for that matter. Coldplay want to continue to be taken seriously and retain their credibility.:smug:

Well, Chris Martin did a duet with Kanye West, and I'm sure there were people that disliked that, especially since a lot of people view Kanye as a complete douchebag.

Disclaimer: This is not to say I'm one of those people. It's stupid to hold artists responsible for who they collaborate with, and while I dislike Kanye as a person, I think he makes good music.

Well if that's the case, it means she definitely uses "autotune" on stage.

You're truly a terrible troll. There is absolutely no reasoning with you. The woman simply sings live and well. She has one of, if not the best, voices in the genre of pop music right now.

I do think it's important for people to have an opinion, Violet.

I think it's important for us to contribute our two cents to an issue and to be able to talk about it and to help create change.

If not, we're left as ignorants kicking and complaining but doing nothing.

I like Violet's multiquote.

I like Violet's multiquote.

agreed

^^^ I'm not saying that it isn't important. I'm merely saying that Gena has the right to not have one. At any rate, even with us putting our own two cents into topics, change doesn't happen overnight. Equal rights for different races has been as issue for forever, and even with the laws put into place, I don't think we've reached that goal.

^^ Thanks. :nice: It was originally going to be more massive than that, but after reflection, I decided to cut it down.

^ Again, thanks.

How many times does it have to be said - no one has an issue with her views on the subject. It's just that most people find it an attempt to be an attention seeker. For one John McCain's PA will not alert her man to the fact that 'Lady Gaga has something to say to you'. Politicians have a lot more serious work to do than watch videos of pop stars. If she wants to have an impact do what Geldof does. Do what Bono does. Meet them face to face.

Overall I think people have a right to criticise Lad Gaga. She hasn't won any new fans the past week with her desperate publicity stunts. The meat dress was totally wrong in every way. How in God's name does a dress made out of meat convey support to homosexuals? How? I'm not even vegetarian but I found it extremely tasteless.

She feeds on publicity - and that's the worst kind of celebrity.

Who said her meat dress was worn to support hoomosexuals?

it wasn't.

I completely agree with you. I remember reading about this, and I was baffled as to how the two issues related. Also, I know she mentioned that she didn't intend on insulting vegetarians and vegans, but using animal products in that way would be VERY insulting to that community. I myself am against using animals like that, to an extent. I think that as long as you kill an animal and use it to sustain yourself, then it's perfectly fine. If you just use the fur, and you use it just as decor because it looks cool, then that's not OK at all. Lady Gaga using meat in that way was offensive to me because I don't think animal products should be wasted in such a manner.

Anyway, I'm not sure where I was headed with this, but I believe you get the general idea.

Who said her meat dress was worn to support hoomosexuals?

Err she did.

"In the show, Lady Gaga reiterated her stand in wearing the meat dress at VMA 2010 saying, “It is a devastation to me that I know my fans who are gay … feel like they have governmental oppression on them. That’s actually why I wore the meat tonight.”

It's one thing providing concrete evidence. It's another thing trying to deny it was ever said when it was.

loln

I wasn't denying anything.

I was asking who said it as I was not aware that she had said it

lol offended by meat. The designer who made it revealed it wasn't even good cuts, not like she was wearing filet mignon or ny strip.

Who said her meat dress was worn to support hoomosexuals?

Actually, Lady Gaga did.

LINK.

the way it was worded for "Supporting homosexuals" made me confused

and i agree that's a dumb reason for wearing meat don't even see the connection ya know?

lol offended by meat. The designer who made it revealed it wasn't even good cuts, not like she was wearing filet mignon or ny strip.

WTF? What kind of reasoning is THAT? Just because it wasn't prime meat doesn't make it OK. As a person of lower-middle class, that meat looked perfectly OK to eat from my perspective. I'm sure there are people like me (or, even, less fortunate than me) who would see my view on that, too.
