Do you still buy CDs/go to concerts?

Featured Replies

Very curious! Feel free to post what you own or how often you go to gigs, or why you don't :)

My rule is that I only buy CD's I will pass on to my children.

I would go to more concerts if I had the money. Which means I will go to more concerts in the future.

I buy CDs of bands I really like and for who I know I will play in my hi-fi a lot. As for gigs, I go when I can for artists I really care about.

oooo i really like that approach. just looking at my record collection now and i cant wait to introduce them to my kids (hopefully) in however many years time :D

im planning a bit of a cd splurge tomorrow so i might keep that in mind.

:awesome:

no money = no concerts/cds

Usually I download all my music and if it's damn good, I'll go buy a physical copy.

i yet buy albums although less than before, mainly cause here they are damn expensive most of the times and there are other options as streaming which is free, no concerts for me this year.

And I'll still be going to concerts when I'm an old lady. :P

+1

I fully intend to rock on in a walker when I'm 80

concert addict.

cd junkie.

this.

I hope to be doing world tours in my 80's

haha! same here.

Who doesn't buy CDs? I still buy vinyls! :P

I've noticed that vinyl's have been making a big comeback lately.

Love live music, but don't see enough. :(

Love physical copies of music and buy lots of it when budget allows.

I love sorting through album cases and flipping through the books. I love carefully selecting a stack of options for the car or living room. The limited number I can take makes me appreciate the individual albums more. It's fun to think of a range of moods and pick one cd for each, and think of how the different sounds will go together. I especially like how much richer lossless music, especially vinyl albums sounds than compressed files.

The music I would pass on to kids or whoever is the music I invest in good vinyl copies of. Albums from the 30s and 40s are still perfectly playable now if they've been taken care of, and the plastic in CDs is supposed to start to degrade after about 50 years, so it's not the greatest for archiving, even if it's the perfect physical medium now.

I do, if I can afford it.

And as for concerts, I can't really afford them, and the acts that I like normally go to the neighbouring country. Lulz.

YESH. I buy about 10% of the music that I downloaded (judging from my iTunes library), but I only buy the albums that I *really* like (otherwise they would have to be extremely cheap) and only physical cds. I go to quite a lot concerts, on average about 2 times a month, depending if anyone interesting is playing. If I had to choose between concerts and cds, I'd choose concerts hands down (seeing as I'm not rich I frequently have to make this decision). Partly because I'm addicted and partly because I believe that's the best way to support artists. :nice:

Funny that everyone that voted so far, has voted for both ...

Yeah, so I don't only buy CD's to support the artist, but also because I love CD/vinyl artwork and those CD's/vinyls look damn good in my house!

and I love concerts, they can move me in ways that the CD cannot and it's of course a nice opportunity to hang out with friends (or in my case also a good excuse to visit another country to see a show, since I love mostly Danish bands and I don't live there)

Buy C.D.'s whenever I can. Don't go to concerts as often as I'd like, because I'm not in a city that big bands usually frequent.

I mostly pay for d/loads just cos it tends to be a wee bit cheaper than the cd and cos you get the music straight away, no waiting for the stupid postman, or I borrow the cd from the local library and rip it :shame:

I do buy cds of stuff I'm really excited about or if a cd happens to be cheaper or just as cheap as the d/load, or if I spot a bargain in an actual shop. My media player library is flippin huge tho, if I had a cd for every album on there, there'd be no room for people in this house

I go to a gig every couple of months generally and I actually see more bands these days than I did when I was younger, for many different reasons. Seeing a band live adds a whole other dimension to the music, I'd like to go to gigs more often, but then I figure going to just a handful a year keeps them special too, it makes you cherish those moments more.

+10000000000 Plus, you can really 'judge' a band by seeing them live. Some will disapoint you (musically speaking), some will blow your mind. A live is a good 'barometer' IMO.

i buy cd's because ive started a collection where i tape them to this archway in my room

...they are now all the way up the arch and halfway over the cieling.

plus sometimes i feel like listening to a cd in its entirety.

and concerts im addicted to

I still buy CDs yeah...

still can't make friends with mp3 albums on my laptop

well, I wish I went to more concerts, but since there is nobody around who likes the same music like me I barely go to concerts...:(

I've only bought about 5 CD's in my life. Mostly download :/

As for concerts, I go to as many as possible however it is hard to find people to go with me as many of my friends don't enjoy the same music I do!

What are they into, then? Lady Gargoyle?

I buy CD's that I really, really like. I like having the physical copy. And I love going to concerts, but it's quite expensive so I often have to choose which ones to go to.
