I just don't understand why they would play all these festivals if they didn't have any new material? Maybe that's just me.

They played Glastonbury in 2002 before releasing AROBTTH?

People who spoke to Phil Harvey said he told them not for a while and the recent Q Magazine interview had it listed as late 2011. Even though all other indications (not just festivals) seem to dictate it should be out earlier.

I recogn it's pretty weird, but maybe they want to test the new material during festivals and decide afterwards which songs will make the final cut on the album depending on crowds reaction?! A french artist did that...

White Lies did it this year, they played new songs at some festivals but the album is coming out in January

The waiting is what's killing me. If they could only put the offical statement. Like "Hey guys no album til late '11 so don't wait for it" and I'd be soooo greatful!

There are rumors going around that Coldplay has booked some venues in the U.S. this upcoming summer (security and venue staffers leaking info, apparently). Why would they do that if a new album wasn't coming out early next year? I say LP5 comes out in a few months. March 2011 perhaps?

I think they are just saying late 2011 to cover up in case sometime prevents them from releasing it int he next few months. :D I have faith in them.

I'm not sure if you intended to mean it this way, because Christmas Lights is definitely a single, but it's not going to be an off the album single. We'd definitely have been told if it had anything to do with the album.

I think that or it will released on June or before maybe may . Given the fact that viva and x and y where released in June (parachutes in early July) , maybe they want to release this arrouns the same dates , maybe is a lucky charm :)

I couldn't agree more, Im guessing april at the earliest and august at the latest. I cant imagine them taking another year to work on the album when they basically have all the songs recorded, there simply isnt that much left to do on the album during that long length of time.
