December 3, 201015 yr I'm starting to get so excited I might burst soon.   I saw the big long extended preview that has been doing the convention circuit at Hal-Con and it blew my mind. It looks so amazing. And now the soundtrack is more or less out and just WOW. Daft Punk are awesome. December 3, 201015 yr Author ^ Word of warning, it's a soundtrack not a dance album. Ambient Vangellis sort of stuff with an orchestra thrown in, but with a sort of craftsmanship and subtle innovation to it that completely blows my mind.
December 3, 201015 yr the movie looks pretty bad. haha. I'm not a big fan of the soundtrack. I love Daft Punk, but I love their Dance/House music, so I can't really get into it. It also seems a bit too soundtrack-y to listen to by itself? does that make sense?
December 3, 201015 yr It is quite different genre-wise than their usual stuff but because I love them I want to hear it. Whether or not that means I see the movie, I dunno. Some way or another I want to hear the whole soundtrack.

There are some pretty good parts on it though.
December 18, 201015 yr Author ^ :wtf: Saw Tron Legacy at a midnight showing Thursday night. I don't know if I have ever liked a movie this much that made me want to punch out the scriptwriters this much. It is so beautiful and so amazing, and then has such a big problem with the plot by the end. Need to see it again, though. Also, best 3d I have seen yet.
December 18, 201015 yr I think that either this movie is going to be amazing or it's going to fail miserably. I'm not sure which it's going to be though. :P
December 22, 201015 yr Good special effects, great music but boring storyline... Plus, Garrett's acting talents are very underemployed here... :dozey: I know it's just an action movie, but still...! (look at TDK!)
December 22, 201015 yr I haven't seen it but it looks as though it's really pretty but the plot/acting fails! my local cinema just got 3D!! I'll see it soon.
December 23, 201015 yr Actually, many people complain about the plot and writing being weak. Wouldn't surprise me at all. Yay for music and effects though.
December 27, 201015 yr haven't seen it. don't care to see it. just from the preview it looks extremely stupid, just like any other movie with mindless action from start to finish.

(look at TDK!) I haven't seen it but it looks as though it's really pretty but the plot/acting fails! my local cinema just got 3D!! I'll see it soon. watched it this week in 3D...& imo, Tron: Legacy is one VERY pretty/cool movie! & i think this movie is one of the very select few that i think must be watched in 3D (the others being Avatar & Despicable Me...& perhaps How To Train Your Dragon too). the movie itself even opens with a note typed terminal-style saying that it was filmed for 3D viewing & to have our 3D glasses on throughout to fully enjoy it. ...hence, i'm not too sure if it'd still be as cool if watched in 2D. :\ the easiest way to put it is that this movie is pretty much a 2hr+ Daft Punk music video (ala Interstellar 555). storywise, it's no Inception or Scott Pilgrim. & it's pretty predictable. but there seems to be an underlying message sneaked in about the open source movement's goal vs a corporation's capitalistic goal (Ubuntu/Linux vs Microsoft anyone?) in all of this. i got the OST long before i watched the movie so i knew the songs already & it's great to have lovely luminescent imagery to fit in with the soundtrack. & Derezzed still remains the most awesome track on that OST, especially within the actual context of the movie. btw, to a minor extent, i think anyone who's played the Kingdom Hearts II video game would have had an idea of how the Tron world would look like with today's computer graphics magic vs what was achieved in the 80s (which was/is still impressive when i watch it). Tron: Legacy meets my expectation after Kingdom Hearts II's Tron world (called Space Paranoids :D) + 100x more. geek's dream come true, perhaps! :wacky:
January 2, 201115 yr Though I love the original Tron, hardly anyone I've talked to has seen it, so I'm not sure how much newcomers have gotten out of Legacy. Personally, I thought it was decent at best. After seeing a bunch of 3-D movies that looked absolutely awful in 3-D, it was nice to see it done properly for a change. Plot...eh, I think the problem with the plot is that it just wasn't interesting. I honestly didn't have any problems with the characters or casting, and Jeff Bridges is always fantastic. But there was a lot of dull build-up to a less-than-stellar conclusion. In the end, though, there have been far worse franchise revivals. Not really a loyal Daft Punk fan or anything, but I thought the soundtrack was one of the highlights of the movie. But I don't think it should be a substitution for a proper album.
January 3, 201115 yr ^Haha yeah, the plot is shit. But it's good if you wanna kill some time and Olivia Wilde is a plus.
