Noel's will shit on Beady Eye but still, Liam's album will shit on most of the troll out there. Hence the circle of life. Corkus
Radiohead is a given, but then again, I also said that was one of my most anticipated of 2010. :P In terms of bands who are certainly releasing albums this year, I'm looking forward to Death Cab for Cutie, The Strokes, Coldplay, Bright Eyes, British Sea Power, and Elbow. Obviously I'm also looking forward to new material by Metric, Fleet Foxes, U2, Snow Patrol, etc., but upcoming album details are still vague with all of those. Crying Lightning was incredible! but when it was released I was extremely disappointed :\ I've never heard how it sounds live but I really like some of the songs on the album. MrMagpie
http://thebrokenspeaker.com/2010/12/30/looking-ahead-anticipated-albums-of-2011/ Braids – Native Speaker Release: January 14th Free single: Lemonade (right click/control, save as) This album has been pretty hyped not only in Canada, but also by influential alternative music critics such as Pitchfork. Data Romance – TBA Release: TBA Free single: Bones EP While no date has been set for this band yet, 2011 should be a great year for the band as they are set to move feet on the dance floors of pop lovers, hipsters, and the cool kids. Hey Rosetta! – Seeds Release: February 14th Free single: non available Already the most hyped album of 2011 for the Broken Speaker, you can check out this guide to get a sneak peak at what to expect on the new album. Jenn Grant – Honeymoon Punch Release: January 11th Lead Single: How I Met You (available on iTunes) Known for her entertaining live shows that leave a smile from ear to ear on your face, Jenn Grant is set to deliver what is her rockiest and most upbeat album to date. Fun and smiles on the way. Joel Plaskett – TBA Release: TBA Joel Plaskett has been roadtesting a vast number of new songs over the past few weeks. On the 27th, New Scotland Records posted “The new year approaches and it’s almost time to roll some tape at the Scotland Yard!”. A pretty good indication that some recording of some sort will be taking place in the not so distant future. Metric – TBA Release: TBA Metric have been going none stop ever since the release of Fantasies. Relentless touring, acoustic releases, etc, they had their hands full. There are no signs of slowing down as they head into 2011. On December 23rd Emily Haines wrote “So far the sessions have been intense. We’ve got about 12 new songs bouncing off the walls in there and only another thousand hours to go. Which is alright by me.” Rich Aucoin – TBA Release: TBA Free single: Push (right click/control, save as) Rich Aucoin offered the Public Publication EP in 2010, a teaser of sorts for the long awaited new album. While there has been a demo rough version of the album floating around for quite a while now, a polished version with new songs and such will be exciting for all party loving people. The Rural Albertan Advantage – Departing Release: March 1st Free single: Stamp Their debut Hometowns was one of those albums that I didn’t listen to until after the fact, but it has received many listens since then. This album will show if the band were one off wonders, or if they are here to stay and make solid music for years to come. The later seems more likely. Young Galaxy – Shapeshifting Release: February 8th Free single: Peripheral Visionaries (right click/control, save as) and Cover Your Tracks The Montreal based band are set to release their 3rd album produced by Dan Lissvik of the Swedish electro duo Studio. This band is never satisfied with making the same songs or sounds over and over again, so it will be exciting to hear what they have in store for Shapeshifting.
