January 19, 201115 yr It is dark and I love it. Songs about a world caving in on itself amidst war and terrorism (Politik), someone who questions what his purpose in life is and whether he is contributing to the worlds good or bad (Clocks) or a man torn apart on the inside and contemplating suicide before he finds someone meaningful in his life (Amsterdam). It's not just one of the darkest albums ever made but it's also one of the most beautiful albums ever made.
January 20, 201115 yr i like how one of the darkest albums contains a song called Daylight :awesome: I find Daylight (lyrically and musically) to be a very dark song. As for the list itself, it's not great. Even though it contains two of my favorite albums ever (A Rush of Blood to the Head & OK Computer), and a bunch of pretty good ones.
January 20, 201115 yr AROBTTH , or at least half of it, is rather dark. And that's why it's my favorite song on the album...after it, only Twisted Logic on X&Y and Yes on VLV were dark. And BTW just because something is considered dark, doesn't mean it has to be metal or whatever you guys think. The album is dark, because of the song topics primarily. I think that's what they meant by most of these albums, like for example Billie Holiday.

January 21, 201115 yr That list is ridiculous. This album is probably not even in the top thousand darkest albums ever. This is an album with hope peeking around every corner. It doesn't wallow in despair or declare life hopeless. Seriously, "Green Eyes" is on this album. This isn't saying it's a bad album. It's just not the musical equivalent of Edgar Allen Poe.

Lol. i can kinda understand the whether he is contributing to the worlds good or bad bit because of the "am i part of the cure/or am i part of the disease" lines. :shrug: and i guess the other conclusion could be drawn from, "confusion never stops." :P (though if you ask me, it's a tiny bit of a stretch; at least, those lines may describe the character who is singing, but not what the entire song is about, per se...)

'Lights go out and I can't be saved, tides that I tried to swim against, have put me down upon my knees' - he's tried hard at something but has ultimately come up short and failed and is begging to be a success at something. 'Confusion never stops' - these failures leads him to question himseld whether he can consider himself proud at his work in life so far or not 'Closing walls and ticking clocks' - his life continues to tick by and is pondering whether the many options in life are now becoming slimmer by the second. 'curse missed opportunities' - ever thought for a second in your life about something that you wish you had done but the opportunity has passed you now? This is what he is cursing! 'am I a part of the cure or am I part of the disease' - contemplating whether he has contributed much in life by going out and exploring new avenues or sat on his arse doing very little 'home, home where I wanted to go, I went home...' - Where he ultimately finds himself - in the comfort of his own home rather than exploring these new avenues. Not very ambitious. I don't think it's a song about idleness (ok it is in part) but it's a song cursing his idleness caused by loss of confidence in himself because of past failures. Whoever he or she is because I don't think it's from CM because the last thing I would call him is failure/lazy and unambitious. Home and idleness go hand in hand on many cases. You know the feeling - 'fuck it. I'll do that at some other point. I'm far too busy searching hilarious youtube fail videos' where you could have been spending that time exploring the world or working hard at your job or studies or even meeting new people. It's a song about lack of ambition/idleness and how he resents himself for being so. Well that's what I believe!
