When someone insults an artist you love, do you take it personally?

Featured Replies

I take it personally if they're deliberately insulting the music I listen to in order to make me feel bad.

But if it's someone who honestly has a different taste in music, meh!

in my life, I never liked the insults. others about a band I love.

Now, with the only band that I have chosen, because it's also crappy as my life. the groupies is the first to insult me my life my personality and my own family and family that does not exist .

it's horrible

off thread is importante to have a sister called louise-louisa that he was beaten, in real live I suppose .

I do not suppost the insults that people make to my band....!

It bothers me how quickly people come to conclusions about what kind of music you like just by one artist.

Story of my life~

^ Yeah, that's really dumb. People like that don't grasp the concept that hey, maybe my music taste is actually more diverse than that.

those. some people mind is too closed.

anyways yesterday i was reading reviews of an artist and i felt  of some dumb comments, man if you don't like the artist, let them go and mind your business. there are millions of bands and songs out there, ugh!

is plain stupid to see some comments on vids and so, of the sorts of 'they sound gay, they are dumb, they look bla bla'... give a reason, or may be the dumbest is the one wasting their time to go there to bother the fans.

if someone like a band no matter what other say, they'll still like it.

worst is when they cross the personal insult border for just commenting on a song, is plain stupid for both sides.

and way more pointless is when fans fight against each other for liking this or that artist cause those are competitors (tour at same time, are on different labels), when the artists in particular are good pals, i'll never understand that.

music is out there, as variated as the painter's palette, to be enjoyed freely if you don't like some artist move on to some you like and don't bother others for liking them.

I feel affronted for my favourite bands/artists if someone slates them but I just laugh if it's an attempt to try and get at me! :D

I just had someone on The National forum tell me that they couldn't take me seriously based on the fact that I love Muse and Owl City. Talk about being a jerk. :dozey:

It's only personal if the insult is directed personally. For instance, "Coldplay sucks!" is a whole lot different than "You're a douchetard for liking Coldplay!" The former doesn't irk me, but the latter is obviously an attack at the person. Granted, it works indirectly as well, as even though I rarely have someone tell me that, I often see and hear similar things directed at different people.

That said, I admittedly have little right to complain. I give crap to Nickelback and Black Eyed Peas and their fans fairly frequently (Facebook is the best place for this because people are perfectly open about sharing their love of those bands on FB), so it's a vicious cycle.

What a sad sad moron. It's music snobs like that who need to get a life. You merely have a more diverse music taste than that narrow minded moron.

That last thing you said was exactly what I told this person. My different tastes in music don't make opinions I have on anything else invalid. :|

The funny thing was, some other poster had also made a comment along the lines of, "Yeah, that's exactly what I thought about Owl City. You should listen to The Postal Service!" It was funny because it seemed like she assumed that because I like Owl City, I don't listen to The Postal Service. I have all their music on my iTunes.

TBH i really think its great if you have a diverse taste in music. Clearly that idiot doesn't think so.

I take it very personally

"I can't take anything you say srsly if you think Muse winning a grammy or the news of a new Owl Shitty album could be good news, SG."

I like your responses. :P

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL AT THE SELLOUTS COMMENT

Ah, I was creeping in their other bands subforum.

I understand that you may not like the same things that I do. However, I don't believe my differing tastes in music should have any correlation to how seriously you decide to take me when I say things. Yeah, I love Muse to death. They are my favorite, for a wide variety of reasons. I like Owl City, too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. (Oh, and regarding your comment, watchthestars. I'm already familiar with The Postal Service, and I have their album. Thank you for the suggestion, however.) At any rate, I, like everyone else, love The National, so you can't really say that my taste is absolutely terrible. If anything, I like to think of myself as a relatively diverse listener.

You go Violet! :awesome:

*high fives*

If it's a big band I like, like Muse or Coldplay, I don't really give a toss because I know they're rolling in it!

But when it's bands that mean a hell of a lot to me, or bands that have never made it big because of label pressures, other pressures or just reasons that most people wouldn't know, it does grate a little bit. Good examples being Reuben or Amplifier (the former have got me through a lot of crap over the years, and the latter had to make their newest record all on their own over the past 5 years).

So that's my answer.

OMG, you guys are stalking me in my other forums. :stunned:

Anyway, I logged on this morning, and apparently, she either didn't mean it, or she was taken aback by how I responded. I have since responded back. We'll see what happens.

seems so or you all are in the same boards and with the same usernames :uhoh:

not my case :P

Hehe. :wacky: Well, if they were being rude we could always spam up their forum, you see. :awesome:

Woah lady, take a freaking chill pill.

She doesn't seem like a very awesome person. :|

I only take it personally if that artist happens to be Radiohead. :P

not insult my friends

Oh, look what I got to read this morning on The National forum:

AHM is right.

By any means, you're about as thick as a plank and as dense as...a dense thing if you're going to get your panties in a twist if some stranger online doesn't like your shitty music taste. It's a freaking message board! Who cares what I think? If you want to like those bands, go ahead, but everyones entitled to their own opinion.

And yes, you may take that how you will.

If you'd like to read my response to this, go to the thread and read it on Page 10.
