What's the best british band at the moment?

Featured Replies

Don't you think that's being a bit close minded and elitist?

And also if are not a big Burial listener, how can you make an accurate assumption?

If that's the case then why don't we all just say that Beethoven and Bach are better than anyone else ever in the history of music, and leave the discussion at that?

In what way am I being close minded or elitist? Like I said it's opinion on who you or I think is the musical geniuses but I always believe history carries through the best ones. I don't think Burial is one of them but I could be wrong.

God, no one is denying that.

This is all about your arrogant/elitist comments.

You just admitted it's all about opinion and just a few hours ago you posted that stupid comment ditching Eddie's comment.

It's his opinion. While it might sound weird for some, that's what he feels like and what he thinks about Burial and you can't just dismiss it just cos you can accept anything influential other than the obvious bands.

I said he was entitled to that opinion! It's just that you've got to have something to hold up a comment as sensational as his. The way he put it, it was as if it was a given fact. It may be to him the greater than The Beatles but you've got people on here who think the same way about Coldplay. With that comment you won't have any problem with that will you. I mean you can go from laughing at Juanma in The Lounge for idolising Chris Martin to now accepting people's own feelings on things. That's quite a turnaround. But a turnaround for the better so I'll hold you to that.

I understand what you are saying. I mean I think that The Beatles are definitely one of the most important and influential bands. What I'm trying to get at is that the way that you posed your argument towards Eddie, it made it seem like you thought he was an idiot for liking Burial more than The Beatles or thinking that they're very influential.

I didn't even criticize anyone here, just you for being so authoritarian with your opinion, as if it was the only right choice/opinion in the world.

You were a fucking douche instead of opting for a rather respectful post, since he wasn't even being a dick like I am sometimes, he was merely expressing his thoughts and you went all douche with him as if you were the extreme God of taste in music for liking the fucking good old Beatles. What the hell?

You always express as if all the bands you liked were the best in the world, I don't even do that with Radiohead, and you can't accept any fucking different opinion without dismissing them as being delusional for liking FUCKING BURIAL dammit.

You are a narrow minded ****. I didn't even want to get to call you that but you never really express in any other way, you always sound so hysterically elitist and narcissistic.

edit: I wasn't mocking him, I was merely curious to know if that was real. I wouldn't idolize that hypocrite.

I thought it was ridiculous in the way he put it across as though it was fact. It was opinion but it wasn't fact. If we can accept his way of putting things across then no doubt he can now accept those on here who say the same things about Coldplay and the such.

He can sound like an elitist at times like myself. What's wrong with countering that? There's an unbelievable stench of arrogance that comes from you and his posts at times particularly when it comes to issues surrounding Coldplay fans. Your post to Juanma was downright uncalled for but it's an opportunity you would never miss because it's alright to laugh at a Coldplay fan's preferences but when it comes to someone of the opposite preferences you all of a sudden put on a different face. As you have shown on this post you really aren't worth the time because you are the biggest, most petulant hypocrite on here. And no I won't resort to the lowest of all lows by calling you filth.

Do you even read? I was genuinely curious. I would never idolize someone like Chris Martin and I certainly don't even idolize Thom Yorke for that matter. I could easily mock every single post in this thread that mentions Coldplay, and still, I didn't.

I simply mocked your stupid arrogance.

I've told Eddie before that he's been a little arrogant kid and he admited it, if he changed it or not I haven't seen it, and I'm not here to be aware of all the ones who mock people like you do, but you're not the only one.

I have no preference, and I certainly don't go tell people they're cnuts just cos they don't like the same shit I do. If I don't agree with something I just say it.

You're just obsessed.

What Eddie responded to with his apparent fact about Burial strayed so far from what I was discussing about the impact of the bands from the 60s. I wasn't saying none of the acts after that period were not influential but he comes in with a ridiculous arrogant comment that did not relate to my post in any way.

And don't you dare suggest I called anyone a **** on here. The only person who called someone a **** on here was you to me. Your posts are nothing but angry, hypocritical nonsense.

And there's one thing I'm sorry for. I'm sorry to Jony the creator of this thread for allowing this argument on to this thread and ruining it completely. If you want to respond to me i'maveryneatmonster please do it by PM.

Won't do what you tell me to do :nice:

How was his post arrogant? It was opinion and wasn't quoting you. He just said it. You went all dick on him without reason instead of just asking how could he possibly say that.

I guess you'll never stop being the arrogant prick you are. At least I admit I'm a dick but you try too hard to look like a justice figure here. You're only a hypocrite and you always sound so damn false with your overly polite posts. That's just narcissistic.

I'm not even angry, this is fun and you're just feeding more and more my curiosity, are you really that silly or are you pathologically narrow minded?

Oh btw, I meant that unlike you, I don't spend my time looking for people like "me" to question like you always question me =D

edit: And while you might not use bad words, you always find a way to be a prick to several people here. I guess that does make you a hypocrite.

Haha, and don't go all "I'M SO SORRY FOR POOR JONNY, I'M A GOOD GUY I SWEAR!" Cos you started this shit.

Won't do what you tell me to do :nice:

All I can conclude from that post and your previous post is that you are a perfect example of a cretin. In fact that's being kind on you. You really are just a blithering idiot with no meaning. Just refer back to this post when you respond. Cheers.

it didn't relate to your post in any way because it wasn't aimed at your post in any way

My post was just my opinion on british bands at the moment.

I'm glad you finally responded. If it wasn't aimed at my post why did you refer back to my talk of pioneering/revolutionary music. Let's not be stupid here - you were clearly dismissing my post. FUCK DAT OLD SHIT? Come on.

I certainly don't remember even reading your post. I have talked about this topic with other people and i was probably just referring to something someone else had said.

I was just being silly when I said FUCK DAT OLD SHIT. I was getting bored with my argument so i said I prefer newer music to older music...in a weird way.

WHAT I'M SAYING IS

I like the Beatles and I respect them and their influence on a lot of artists/modern music. I think that Burial's first album had the same effect on the electronic and especially the dubstep scene that the Beatles' albums had on the pop/rock scene at the time.

Obviously it is not as significant, it's not like we're going to see rock bands with clear Burial influences (except maybe Radiohead...Thom seems to be obsessed with that post-dubstep thing)

ehh

It certainly looked like that you had read my post but if you say you didn't then you didn't. I'm not bothered about whether you like The Beatles. I couldn't care less if you hated them. I love them but I also find it amazing the ever lasting impact they and their contemporaries had on music beyond that which I feel hasn't nearly been matched in the decades after it. I certainly wasn't dismissing the many great and influential acts that followed.

All I can conclude from that post and your previous post is that you are a perfect example of a cretin. In fact that's being kind on you. You really are just a blithering idiot with no meaning. Just refer back to this post when you respond. Cheers.

Does that make you feel better about yourself? Your post does make me feel great about myself, you're so deluded <3

Refer back please. Thank you and goodnight.

Basically it would be like if Eddie came onto the forum, only used caps, and then everybody else used all caps. His affect on Coldplaying would be similar to the Beatles on pop/rock. Just on a smaller scale. But still important.

And Fuck dat old shit, who cares if Ian invented smilies.
